time and money: repair databases

| Database
consumer electronics, TV Tech Tips |
+
EURAS is independent from manufacturers
The system offers you
everything from top manufacturers to lesser known Far East and no
name manufacturers – all under one uniform user
surface.
+ Repair tips and service information
More than 1,000,000 tips in the system. Each month more than
1,500 updated service tips are added. 50% of the data is provided
directly by manufacturers, 25% by specialist workshops and 25% by
EURAS system users (marked especially) – all directly from daily
workshop praxis. The information is sorted by appliance. Enter the
appliance type as search criteria; the system guides you via user
friendly search logic (appliance – fault area – fault
description - remedy). Tips and circuit diagram extracts can be
printed.
+ Circuit diagram extracts
Many appliances have printable circuit diagram extracts as
useful additions to the service information (for parts location etc.).
+ Appliance data and product information
Useful technical data and information regarding modifications.
+ Adjustment instructions
e.g. the most important adjustment for camcorder, CD player, video
etc.
+ Spare part top ten
Parts that fail the most frequently are listed according to
appliance.
+ Check lists, tips & tricks
e.g. which parts need to be tested/ adjusted after changing the head
drum, deactivating child lock, timer programming, service
modification...

| Spare parts hitlists |
Parts hitlist for more than 100,000 appliances/models in the consumer electronic and white goods area
While searching for a model xyz, the repair tip database will start a search “Most important parts for xyz” (if available) at the same time and display the relevant parts.
Clicking on the found model will open a table with the parts in sequence of its relevance indicator.
Relevance signifies: The higher the value the more often the part of this appliance was either defective/worn-out and replaced. The data displayed derives from various EURAS partner workshops as well as manufacturers, that do support us in this respect. The part hitlist is available for many appliances in particular for appliances in the white goods area. The list will become especially helpful, when no repair tips for the appliance were found. It therefore makes sense to check the parts with the highest relevance indicator.

Exchange

s |
| Pinboard
system |
The
pinboard system is a communication forum that helps you to be in
contact with technicians from other workshops. It is like a virtual
pinboard where you can post your own questions and answer other
technicians’ queries. There are various pinboards in the EURAS Internet-System:
+ Pinboard for difficult repair problems
When you come across a particularly difficult repair problem - and
the EURAS repair database cannot help you either – describe the
symptom on the pinboard. Your question becomes automatically visible
to other participants and chosen repair specialists and
manufacturers. Profit from your colleagues’ knowledge, who have
come across the problem before and can give you an answer or get
advice from experts who support the pinboard in an on-line chat.
+ Know how exchange communication forum
Take part in discussions, talk about problems and develop solutions
together. You can discuss important topics with colleagues, exchange
experience and form new contacts in the various discussion forums.
Only specialist workshops are allowed to use the EURAS internet
system so that you can discuss delicate topics such as costs charged
for different repairs and experience with customers, manufacturers
freely. Know how forums: telecommunication, PC technology, satellite/
cable, security technology, radio technology, tips&tricks,
product valuation, digital photography, ...
+ Small Ads
Are you looking for a reasonably priced measuring instrument or do
you want to sell one? Are you looking for an appliance that is not
manufactured any longer? Place your offer or your question in the
pinboard. Your small ad will be read by colleagues who can offer
help quickly.

Here
you can discuss directly ONLINE with colleagues and exchange
experience. You can meet up at specified times or join ongoing
discussions. Contrary to the pinboard, communication is not time
delayed – and all on cheap internet tariff for all participants
(not a long distance call). There is a specific date once a week
where many colleagues can meet up for a chat.

tools for your daily work: Tech knowhow

| Original ECA database
|
All subscribers to the EURAS System will get access to ECA's VRT Online database which
contains detailed information for more than 180,000 semiconductor! The vrt online
database is the software version of the vrt data book series. The database covers
more than 100.000 different devices (transistors, diodes, thyristors and ICs)
including their salient data, manufacturers and - where possible –
appropriate replacement types. In addition to pin assignments of all discrete
semiconductors it contains the pin assignments for all standard CMMOS 4000/7400,
TTL 7400 circuits, many operation amplifiers and some Audio- and Video ICs.
| TecTra
|
TecTra
is a unique database for identifying electrical compatibilities when
inputting ICs, IC combinations or transformers. You can use your
circuit diagram archive much more efficiently with the help of TecTra.
This is how TecTra works:
- An everyday problem
You need to repair an appliance but you don´t have a circuit
diagram available or the information
for the defective stage is insufficient.
– Use TecTra
TecTra makes use of the fact that the increasing use of ICs in
more and more appliances results in electrical compatibilities
because the IC circuits are often fixed by the relevant IC
manufactures. Today, many different appliances have the same ICs,
including their circuits, e.g. in colour processing, in IF, in reset
circuits... Those appliances do not necessarily need to be compatible,
e.g. the same IF IC can be found in a TV as well as a video
recorder. This also means that you can use this part of the circuit
diagram for the TV as well as the video recorder, depending on which
circuit diagram is available or more detailed. Therefore, you can
conduct your fault finding in certain areas of an appliance with the
help of a circuit diagram from another appliance.
To
test this, enter the IC or IC combination for that circuit in your
appliance, where you suspect the fault may be or where you want to
carry out measurements. If available, a list of all appliances where the IC
is used electrically (electrical compatibility) will be
displayed. In addition to that, sometimes you will be
offered information on the quality of the diagram in the relevant
original service manual and page number of the IC. If you already
have a circuit diagram for one of the listed appliances, you may be
able to use that one instead for your repair.
–Your advantage
You
can carry out the repair in many cases without buying a new service
manual because you already have the IC diagram or a manual in your
circuit diagram stock. You will save time because the information you need
is immediately available and money because you don't have
to buy a new manual.
The appliance reference list and number of IC diagrams is constantly
updated.

| FCC
ID database |
The
FCC-ID is an identification similar to the former FTZ-, ZZF- or BZT
numbers in Germany, whereby an appliance is registered with the 'FCC' in
the USA. The first three FCC IC digits identify the actual manufacturer
the remaining number gives information about the appliance type. You can
find out appliance compatibilities even when the name on the appliance
is different.
