7176I / ACER [17" monitors]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for 7176I / ACER.
List of fault symptoms:
- OSD moved to far right so only half is visible.
- Clicking noises.
- E/W cannot be adjusted. (ACER - 7176I information)
- Reduced horizontal size.
- Powers down with a burning smell.
- Dead. Green LED lit.
- No picture. OSD menu present.
- Bright with flyback lines or dark picture.
- Pincushion distortion.

- Dead. Yellow power light flashes. Occasionally relay also clicks.
- Retrace line not blinking.
- Background adjustment.

- No picture.
- Dead. Amber LED flashes every 2-3 secs.
- Picture breaks irregularly in the line.
- B+ adjustment.
- Q311 shorted.
- Colour end stage (blue) is defective. (ACER - 7176I information)
- No picture just white screen.
- Monitor does not start up. PSU chirps.
- Screen is only red.
- Change mode failure. (ACER - 7176I information)
- No start-up.
- Inadequate picture and bleedover when contrast increased.
- No vertical size control.
- Excessive width with E/W bowing.
- Shuts down.
- No blue.
- Resolutions and picture repeat frequency. (ACER - 7176I information)
- Transistors Q311, Q312 and Q313 work for about an hour and then fail again.
- Horizontal overlapping picture out of frequency. (7176I tip from ACER)
- Too bright or too dark - intermittent.
- Picture disappears after longer operation time. LED becomes yellow.
- After switch on picture appears for a short time, lines foldover, picture disappears.
- Picture width jitters - intermittent - in all resolutions.
- No output.
- PSU is ticking.
- Picture width alters. Occasionally picture is white.
- E/W-fault: Q321 has S/C after some time.
- Bright raster. Retrace lines.
- Vertical lines on right hand side of picture.
- No raster.
- Size regulation.
- Yellow picture.
- H-size pre-setting.
- Horizontal hold adjustment.
- Geometry specifications.
- Focus voltage flashover at the spark gap.
- Mains voltage and power consumption.
- Poor focus.
- Pincushion, trapezium cannot be regulated, black line in picture. Q313 gets very hot.
- Contrast and brightness factory setting.
- Intermittently dead.
- Horizontal phase shift - no control. (7176I tips)
- HV starts up briefly, then the monitor switches off.
- Goes into protective circuit.
- Fuse broken.
- Spot killer faulty.
- Dead. Amber LED OK.
- Inadequate colour. Green drive CTL inoperative.
- Focus adjustment.
- Pulsing then attempts to power up.
- No red.
- HV adjustment.
- PSU and line end stage fail again.
- No horizontal size control.
- Specifications.
- Wavy picture. Unstable horizontals.
- Horizontal output transistor keeps failing.
- Smoked.
- Partial line collapse.
- Horizontal linearity fault.
- Dead.
- Intermittent picture, standby LED and sync.
- Excessive width. OSD controls not pulling in picture.
- White raster but no video. (7176I tip from ACER)
- No picture, no OSD and white raster.
- Horizontal phase and picture height vary intermittently.
- Fails horizontally. White vertical line in centre.
- Dead. Amber LED on front flashes every 3-5 secs.
- Goes off. Burning smell.
- Screen is bright with flyback lines.
- E/W fault.
- E/W output stage is defective.
- No HV.
- E/W-distortion and no function.
- Dead. Amber LED steady (powers up with LED disconnected). (7176I ACER repair tip)
- E/W is distorted, vertical lines are bent.
- Horizontal output transistor Q311 shorted repeatedly.
- One colour missing. No fault can be measured on the RGB board. (7176I ACER repair tip)
- Convergence adjustment.
- No green.
- No high voltage. LED only lights up yellow.
- E/W fault. Sometimes a 3cm wide dark stripe wanders from the left to the right. (7176I tips)
- Dead or goes black intermittently (common problem).
- Screen gets too bright after operating for a few hours.
- No power up. Amber LED flashing.
- Flickering picture.
- No i-screen, i.e. intelligent OSD with white text on blue background.
- Smoke from power supply.
- Pincushion. Sides lean inward and user adjustment slightly bulges.
- Power supply whistles shortly after switch on.
- No vertical deflection.
- Foreground adjustment.

- Picture becomes too bright.
- High voltage abnormal.
- E/W defective, picture present.
- E/W trapezium adjustment.
- PSU electrolytics are destroyed and VRT 601, 602 are defective.
- No picture no vertical synchronisation.
- No power up. High voltage tries to come up and surges. Amber light flashes.
- Horizontal shift.
- No horizontal deflection.
- Screen is only bright with flyback lines. (7176I ACER repair tip)
- Geometry adjustment.
- PSU switches off immediately.
- Wavy picture.
- Pulsating at start up, LED cycling yellow and green, powers up when warm.
- Brightness slows down after warming up.
- No EHT, relays on PSU operate.
- No RGB output.
