7000 / AMPRO [Projectors]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for 7000 / AMPRO.
List of fault symptoms:
- White stripes on the top of picture, which spin. After approx. 5 seconds picture becomes dark. (service info for AMPRO -7000)
- Powers up with burning smell, then dead. Mains ON/OFF switch inoperative. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- E/W fault.
- Moire pattern.
- Noise in audio. at low volume. (7000 tip from AMPRO)
- Picture appears only after several restarts or after operating picture search.
- Ballooning effect.
- No new channels can be adjusted, no reception but old channels however are stored.
- No functions. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Contrast problems.
- Horizontal stripe.
- Dark picture. after a while. (7000 tips)
- After few mins of starting up, only half picture at bottom of screen. PSU chirps.
- No vertical deflection. when cold. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Focus problems.
- Dancing white horizontal lines on a stripe which is approx 10cm wide. Dark picture. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Dark picture without colour. AV picture visible, without colour, dark and only intermittently visible picture noise.
- No reception. in VHF.
- Horizontal output stage transistor fails repeatedly after few days/weeks without any apparent reason.
- With low brightness and contrast, the UHF range is affected by distortion up to channel 28. At maximum brightness, the picture is ok. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Switches off by itself. constantly.
- Image position adjusts itself vertically wrong.
- Blank screen (no field scan) and smell of overheating. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- No function. Appliance fails very quickly twice. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Picture visible in 1" strip at left hand side of screen, rest blanked.
- Visible television picture in TXT (display shows lines). (7000 tip from AMPRO)
- Does not switch to standby.
- No horizontal synchronisation.
- No audio. intermittently. Noise in audio. Knock sensitive.
- No picture on lower half of screen. Top half picture OK.
- Single straight line 2 inches from top of screen.
- Bright line in the lower part of the picture.
- Occasionally the East/West scanning fails.
- Picture too dark. Blooming with full contrast.
- Occasionally picture becomes very narrow (East-West). (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- No function. Faint whistle.
- Picture is overmodulated when picture content is bright. Picture flickers intermittently black.
- Horizontal linearity fault. (7000 tips)
- No synchronisation.
- No vertical deflection.
- Trapezoid picture.
- No picture and no sound. The mains relay does not pull in.

- The stations cannot be memorized.
- No RC functions. (service info for AMPRO -7000)
- Zig Zag verticals.
- Horizontal picture amplitude cannot be adjusted. E/W is defective.

- Switches on 3x for a short time, then goes to protective circuit.
- Irregular sound mute. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Intermittently appliance switches off, one or two times per day. (picture attached)
- Faulty TXT.
- Lines flash on picture, may not affect all channels.
- Line output transistor fails repeatedly. (7000 tips)
- No indication. Blue picture with flyback lines. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- No E/W correction.
- Black screen. after a few minutes.
- No channels visible. Dark picture, without colour. AV picture visible, without colour, dark and intermittently only picture noise.
- Battery dead.

- Flashing "PS" in display in standby. Switches off after a short while. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Sound fails.
- After some time, switches off and then sometimes switches on again by itself. Dragging sound. Slight frame cramping. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- All settings (colour/sound etc.) set to 0.
- Loud noise or crackling in the speaker during stereo transmissions.
- Line tearing.

- Unsteady frame scan, lines may be present.
- No picture, no sound. No stations are found during station search. (picture attached)
- Intermittently dead. (picture attached)
- S/C in PSU. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Failure to start up. Standby LED flashes at about 1Hz when appliance switched on at mains. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- After light spot when turning off.
- Only 7 to 10 raster lines in centre of picture. Lines are moving and are not close together (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- No HV.
- Vertical roll.
- Switch on condition of the primary power supply.
- Pulsates 2 up to 3 times, otherwise no function. (AMPRO - 7000 information)
- No picture. Audio OK .
- The picture is intermittent and jitters.
- Snow in picture. Noise in audio. after a few minutes.
- Blurred picture with lines and hardly visible. Very dark.
- No picture. No audio (intermittently). (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Switches to protection mode. at start-up.
- No picture. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Brightness fault.
- No or intermittent start-up. Switches off by itself. after a few seconds.
- Picture dark and line visible in the top part. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Dead or trips.
- Switches off after about 30 mins. If restarted immediately will function for a short time then switches off again.

- When the appliance has been on for approx. 10 minutes it quits and then comes on again on channel 1. This reoccurs in quick succession and then stays off completely after the third time. (part of circuit diagram displayed) (AMPRO - 7000 information)
- Intermittently image and sound disappear. Then only dark flickering. knocking makes screen completely dark. Image conitues appearing if brightness key is pressed. Black/ white only. Image and sound normal again, also if key COLOUR is pressed.
- The top half of the picture is rainbow coloured and cannot be adjusted.

- Slow start-up.
- Pincushion distortion. (7000 tip from AMPRO)
- No channel search and no band switching possible.
- Picture is dim and faint.
- Random clicks with Nicam sound.
- Wide dark stripes on left side of picture.
- Tuning drifts, patterning.
- Appliance switches briefly on three times and switches to protection mode.
- No start-up from standby. PSU ticking. at start-up. (picture attached)
- No blue in the scale of colours. Grey wedge OK. A picture recorded via scart on an external appliance is in order. (picture attached)
- Functions only after several attempts.
- Erratic convergence values in the top third of the picture.
- No TXT.
- After switching over station has disappeared. After switching off and on again station returns.
- Y is missing. (picture attached)
- Colour flickers, Picture I ok, picture III cannot be adjusted. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- The PSU pulsates very faintly three times a second. Power processor, quartz, LOPT and BUs have already been replaced unsuccessfully. Mains transformer and flyback transformer have been completely resoldered.
- Switches off or cannot be started up. (7000 tip from AMPRO)
- Enter service mode.
- The PSU collapses when the load is changed.
- No function. Trips three times. (picture attached)

- No luminance but colour is present. No signal on TR47, but 12V is present. (picture attached) (7000 tip from AMPRO)
- Jagged picture vertically.
- Vertical fault.
- Goes back to standby after approx. 5 minutes and then can be switched on again via the remote control. After a while the appliance switches off again and the situation repeats. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Versucht 3 times to start up, then remains off.
- Channels cannot be switched over. Channel display stops on channel 5.
- Noise bars.
- No start-up. (picture attached)
- Picture is disturbed. Vertical lines are wavy. Picture improves when appliance is warm.
- Flickering, flaring, brightness and contrast changes in picture or white with flyback lines.
- Popping noise at switch on.
- Pulsates 2-3 times and switches off.
- Occasionally loud cracking and noise in the sound, also when the volume is turned down.

- One colour missing.

- Dark picture. on upper half screen. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Poor, noisy stereo sound. Sounds distorted. Mono OK.
- Intermittent serrated vertical edges in picture.
- Intermittent white, horizontal line in the middle of the picture, otherwise dark.
- No start-up. Standby LED flashes .
- Bright picture. Stripes in picture.
- Height drifts. (7000 tip from AMPRO)
- Image compressed horizontally. Insufficient width approx 1cm on left and right of screen.
- Power supply pulsates 3 times, then no further function.

- Horizontal stripes at 3-4cm distance. Dark picture. Loud chirping in line transformer.
- No tuning. in UHF. VHF OK . (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Incorrect picture size.
- Drop out in picture.
- No OSD. No TXT.

- Dead, low whistling.
- Picture interference plus noise on sound.

- Picture and sound are missing, raster ok.

- White screen. Flyback lines.
- Poor picture contrast, picture can hardly be seen. Becomes a little bit better with more brightness. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Dark and colourless AV picture. Occasionally only interference visible. No channel display. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Picture collapsed to a 5 cm horizontal line in picture centre.
- Picture is shifted. Linearity fault.
- Very short, faint crackle at switch on from standby
- No start-up (intermittently).

- Immediate S/C. Brief HT, then standby. (+ extract of circuit diagram)

- Poor vertical linearity.
