RR5991N / BAIRD [TV]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for RR5991N / BAIRD.
List of fault symptoms:
- Crackling audio.
- Immediately after switch ON, vertical amplitude is too low, after approx 2-3 mins returns to normal size.
- PIP assembly (MBTV 5002).
- Screen insertions are unsynchronised, if no aerial signal is present. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Cannot be controlled by the RCU. Red and green LEDs never light up together during operation.
- No picture. via tuner.
- Switches off by itself. after start-up.
- Menu is in French.
- Starts up three times then switches off.
- Picture has shifted upwards approx 5 cm.
- Only a horizontal line at the bottom. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Dead. Trips.
- Microprocessor HD 404019 A05.
- Intermittent field collapse to four inches at centre and rolling white lines.
- Remains in 16/9 mode.
- Sometimes switches off by itself or does not switch on.
- Horizontal size varies. intermittently.
- Flyback lines. at top (after a few hours).
- No raster deflection, no picture, background faintly lit up. Resembles picture stain in bottom of picture. TV does not start. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Bright picture. Retrace lines. (RR5991N tips)
- Coloured spots rising from bottom of blank screen.
- No vertical deflection.
- Pincushion distortion.
- Occasionally white interference stripes on screen. Picture via scart ok. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Blank raster.
- Wrong channel standard.
- No HV.
- No E/W correction. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Intermittently picture and sound are missing.
- No aerial reception. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Red, green and blue vertical lines with some space in between.
- At the left picture edge, several (approx. 4) approx. 1cm wide bright bars in picture.
- Use of the lithium battery.
- Field scan is reduced to 2 inches with 9 white lines within it, ¼ inch from top.
- Faulty adjustment of N/S correction.
- 5cm black edge at lower picture part. Flickering stripes when operating RC.
- Vertical fault.
- Distortion lines on left screen side, especially if SAT reception, poor if AV. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- No start-up.
- Incorrect vertical deflection.
- No start up. PSU does not oscillate.
- Horizontal line. in the centre. (picture attached)
- No picture. No audio. intermittently.
- Vertical collapse.
- Only three coloured lines at bottom.
- Reduced vertical size. Picture shifted vertically. at top.
- PSU not functioning.
- No picture. after warm-up.
- Reduced vertical deflection.
- Vertical lines roll over whole area of screen. (picture attached)
- Switches off by itself. at start-up.
- Wavy verticals on teletext which increase when warm.
- No spot suppression.
- E/W amplitude changes with the beam current. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- At switch on RH speaker makes loud crackling noise.
- Tuner picture.
- No start-up. LED blinks once shortly.
- Picture jitters or horizontal tearing for approx. 5 min., then fault disappears
- Insufficient blue resembling CRT fault. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Line in the centre of the picture. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Teletext clock stops. Each 5cm high part of the picture is missing. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Low FM sound level and high background noise. (IMC Chassis only).
- Trips.
- Failure for a moment in PB.
- Field collapses intermittently with 3 inch high rolling bright flyback lines at the centre of screen. (picture attached)
- No picture. via tuner (intermittently). OK via SCART . (with circuit diagram extract)
- Teletext display does not lock on.
- No picture. No sound. Pulsates three times. Protective circuit switches TV off.
- Reduced vertical size at bottom.
- Memory is erased. Picture appears for a second during preset change, then black screen. Sound OK.
- Switches to protection mode.
- E/W fault.
- Line tearing is greater in the top third. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Intermittently dead.
- Loss of memory. Crackle in sound. Flashing picture. Distorted µPC. No sound only noise. No stereo reception. Does not always start up. Wrong values which cannot be changed. Wrong colours and distorted PIP-function. (RR5991N tips)
- Interference stripes in VHF range.
- Displaced picture approximately 3 inches down screen. (with circuit diagram extract)
- No picture. Sound only briefly present.
- Commands are only carried out with a delay.
- No RC functions. (service info for BAIRD -RR5991N)
- Switches to protection mode (after start-up).
- No picture. intermittently. Flashing picture.
With help of this list a solution is found often when BAIRD RR5991N fails.
