809266 / BAUR [TV]

List of fault symptoms:
  • No vertical deflection.
  • No RC functions. No front panel function.
  • Switches off by itself after a while. Vertical lines on picture right side of approx 10 cm. Jamming in AV mode.

  • No red.
  • E/W fault. No E/W correction.
  • Line output transformer is defective.
  • Blank raster. Flyback lines.

  • Poor start up when cold. Hiccups. OK after several attempts.
  • The appliance remains in standby and the LED remains lit up. (809266 tip from BAUR)
  • Intermittent no video or front display.
  • Ballooning.
  • Goes on and off again for a short time.
  • Purity fault and the sound hums. The positive temperature coefficient resistor has been changed.
  • Power supply. When rebuilding this supply, it is possible that R512 may have failed.
  • Appliance is dead. Sometimes starts if turned on and off several times.
  • Tuning drifts.
  • No sound or picture channel change indicator o.k.
  • Impossible to go into standard LL as the appliance remains locked in standard BG.
  • Hiccups 3 times and switches off. Lamp lights.
  • Blank raster noise appears when aerial is unplugged.
  • Distorted picture. No audio (intermittently).
  • Hum in picture. Lines shifted on top.
  • After changing the deflection transistor BU 508 it blows again after 1-2 days. (picture attached)
  • Image jitter in upper part when turning on. Disappears after a short while.
  • No start up, stuck in standby. Red LED switches off when trying to start up.
  • Vertical lines on right of picture. First line is blue. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Station memory cuts out intermittently, especially when connecting the cable the stations fall out. Then the contrast adjustment gets defective and the appliance doesn't respond to the RC.
  • Switches on. Pulsates 3 times, then switches off.
  • At switch on, blank screen and loud hash noise.
  • BU508 fails in line output stage immediately after start-up.
  • Occasionally vertical picture jitter until total failure of the vertical deflection stage.
  • Dead. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Shuts down. Standby LED does not light.
  • Bright picture. Flyback lines.
  • Trips. when cold. No or intermittent start-up. when cold.
  • No synchronisation. intermittently.
  • The picture is green and purple. No SECAM identification.
  • Black shadow in centre of picture.
  • No start-up from standby. (picture attached)
  • Very distorted picture with very strong vertical waves and picture almost black and white. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • No colour.
  • Hum on sound and picture. (picture attached)
  • Enable Hotel mode. Disable hotel mode.
  • R702 fails at once if the aerial cable is plugged in (cable connection).
  • White spot when switching TV off. (809266 tip from BAUR)
  • Picture is horizontally highly distorted.
  • No sound or nasal sound.
  • Set dead. Trys to come on but trips rapidly then cuts off.
  • Picture width varies according to picture content. Power supply voltages ok and stable. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Intermittent shut down, numbers still light up and the channels can be changed.
  • Stand-by LED does not function.
  • Mains fuse blown and mains transistor T707 (BU908) s/c.
  • PSU does not oscillate. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Power supply does not function.
  • No green.
  • Vertical lines on left side of screen, thiner towards edges and bigger towards centre, approx. 10 cm on screen. Lines tremble. Fault present also in AV mode with black screen. Switches off after a while.
  • Comes on for a short time. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Blinking colours or no colour on Canal Plus.
  • Faulty vertical deflection.
  • Vertical stripe in the left picture third.
  • No vertical deflection, only a horizontal bright line. Sound OK.
  • Snowy raster. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • Stuck in standby. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • Low contrast (after warm-up).
  • No audio. No picture.
  • Does not start up from standby, cracking is audible and appliance switches OFF, standby LED switches off.
  • The station storage breaks down completely, when connected to cable, all the programmes are mixed up. The contrast control is defective and the remote control does not work. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • Line transistor blows after 1 hour.
  • Standby LED flickers for approx 10 secs. Switches off.
  • Line shakes in the top part of the picture. V amplitude jumps.
  • Poor quality picture in high channels.
  • No power supply outputs.
  • Line S2055 fails immediately. FBT has been changed, TDA8372 has been changed.
  • Colour is uncontrollable. (809266 tips)
  • Stretched picture.
  • Excessive horizontal size.
  • Dead. Whining.
  • PSU chirps for approx 10 secs, then OK. (809266 tip from BAUR)
  • Intermittent colour bands at high contrast.
  • Picture flickers horizontally.
  • Vertical collapse.
  • No tuning. Higher channels in band I/III/V are not received.
  • Switches off intermittently, comes then back.
  • Picture becomes snowy and image offset after approx 20 minutes of operation.
  • No start-up (when cold). Standby LED flashes . PSU pulsates.
  • Stuck in standby. LED flashes once and goes OFF.
  • The appliance goes out of tune in VHF.
  • Does not start. PSU starts up briefly, then protective circuit is active.
  • G2 is too high, if attempting to decrease, picture is visible for a few secs then becomes dark.
  • No HV (intermittently).
  • Picture is missing, but sound is ok.
  • No start-up (intermittently).
  • Carries out unwanted operating steps eg. switches off, switches over channel, changes volume etc.
  • Vertical jitter.
  • Chirping.
  • Shuts down. at start-up.
  • No picture. Sound OK.
  • After half-an-hour flashing lines appear on screen.
  • Sound but no picture.
  • Twisted picture when switching on from cold.
  • Picture pulls inwards at the top
  • No function, red LED lights up for a short time at switch on.
  • Power supply squeeling and dead.
  • Standby LED lights even after switching on, and switches then off. Lamp lights.
  • Sometimes while watching a TV channel, TXT appears twisted, as if it had line tearing.
  • Reduced picture, low brightness and varying sound.
  • Occasionally the PSU does not start up. If it does, the appliance is ok. (PSU on the right with STK54041).
  • The lower half of the picture does not exist.
  • Flickering colours with Canal Plus.
  • Starts up only after several attempts, fizzles for 10 secs, then OK.
  • Hum on sound and picture. Capacitor on mains rectifier has been changed. 12V and 16V on IC521 are too low. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Power supply BU908 blows occasionally at switch on, never during operation. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Appliance will not start up. IC701, D717 and C711 have already been changed. Appliance still won't start up.
  • During operation switches over by itself to other channels.
  • E/W pinch and picture is folded up vertically at bottom.
  • When in standby appliance hums or crackles. LED pulses.
  • Erratic start-up.
  • Encrypted Canal Plus after 1 hr.
  • Small picture with hour glass effect.
  • Picture is small and pulses, brightness is low and the sound is variable.
  • LED lights up for 1 sec. at switch on then switches off.
  • Vertical IC burnt. (809266 tip from BAUR)
  • No blue.
  • Picture wavering at top.
  • "S" distortion. Cannot be adjusted.
  • Tuning of the sound is incorrect as one track is O/C.
  • No start-up. No LED. Standby OK.
  • Stripes in picture. on the right.
  • Dead, channel lights OK.
  • Necessary modification when replacing oscillator part.
  • Reduced vertical and horizontal size.
  • The screen is black and the appliance is in safety mode. There is a white horizontal line across the screen. (picture attached)
  • No start-up (when cold). (with circuit diagram extract)
  • Stuck in standby. Attempts to start up, LED flashes one time and turns off.
  • Tearing visible especially with crosshatch pattern. Vertical lines.
  • LED flashes briefly at switch on, then appliance switches off.
  • Distorted picture. at top.
  • Starts up, but after 10 minutes picture is snowy and tuner sensibility decreases
  • No video or standard switching.
  • Pincushion distortion.
  • Switches off by itself. at start-up.
  • Vertical IC fails at switch on.
  • Crackling audio. Lines in picture. on the left.
  • PSU attempts to start with noise. After 3-4 secs it stops and LED indicator goes off.
  • No start-up. Standby LED flashes . (BAUR - 809266 information)
  • Switches off after a few secs. with a whistling sound.
  • No picture.
  • Shuts down. after start-up.
  • Does not start when cold. Only chatters. Appliance runs when warm.
  • Line output stage U is 45V.
  • Set dead or intermittently dead. Set may not go to standby via remote.
  • Intermittent line drive failure causing no picture but sound is OK.
  • Standby LED switches off after start-up. Dead.
  • Picture shaking in random direction.
  • At switch on, stand by display lights up for a short time, line end stage attempts to work, but switches off again straight away.
  • When switching from AV input to any pretuned channel, no horizontal sync, but shortly after picture synchonizes correctly.
  • Horizontal sync error. Spund appears only when horizontal is synchronized. Can be adjusted with pot, but fails again when switching channel.
  • Picture has shifted.
  • IC401 (TDA3654) fails.
  • Picture vibrates slightly for approx. 1 min.
  • Does not start up. LED comes on then goes off immediately.
  • 24V when disconnecting collector of line transistor, otherwise voltage collapses. Line transformer does not start up. 5V on IC721. Display does not light up, standby lights up. (+ extract of circuit diagram) (service info for BAUR -809266)
  • No picture and no sound. Image distorted. (809266 BAUR repair tip)
  • Switches off and goes to standby after hours or days. After switching back on, the appliance switches off again after 30 mins. After that, in even shorter time.
  • The screen is black and the power supply whistles.
  • Set dead. R502 is in open circuit but at switch on there is a bright flash and the plug fuse goes open circuit.
  • The side of the picture drops and a horizontal line appears. Only a third of the line end stage works. The sound is missing, but the power supply unit operates.
  • Power supply goes into safety mode when coming out of standby.
  • The appliance switches off after hours or days and goes to standby. After switching on again it switches off after an even shorter period of time.
  • Occasionally, goes from top of picture to the green, hum in the speaker and dark bar. Goes from bottom to top.
  • Picture becomes quite dark and gets distorted after 20 or 30 minutes.
  • No picture and sound. Buzzing sound at switch on. Standby LED is blinking, then go to standby. (service info for BAUR -809266)
  • Battery is discharged too quickly.
  • 00 on display, remote control often fails or no functions possible.
  • When switched on the appliance goes into stand by then starts up. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • No functions.
  • No start-up.
  • Black screen.
  • Repeat failure of the STR58041.
  • Dead at switch on. Standby OK.
  • PSU whistles. in standby.
  • Stuck in standby. LED is red .
  • The power supply relaxes. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Small, pulsating picture, low brightness, sound level varies.
  • Switches to protection mode.
  • Vibration at top of picture. Picture height changes.
  • Horizontal stripe.
  • Defective mains fuse. Functions OK for two weeks after replacement.
