FS967 / BAUR [TV]

The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers supplies the following faults for FS967 / BAUR.

List of fault symptoms:
  • Adjustment of brightness, volume, contrast, colour, etc., after deleting average analogical values from memory.
  • No sound. No picture in RF. Picture OK from SCART.
  • After turning on the set 10 times once the screen is just grey, no sound.
  • No sound, only appears when volume is regulated.
  • Appliance should go into "AV" ("1 AV") position at switch on. (service info for BAUR -FS967)
  • Crackling at switch off. (picture attached)
  • No functions. Display flashes. Loud crack after switch on. (FS967 tips)
  • Station name - (station contraction -) OSD: without/a short time after each programme change/permanent.
  • Single digit channel display from 1-9.
  • SI644 (1.25A) is defective.
  • T541 (BU508) fails after a few days.
  • Automatic programming (HP) for dealers with the IR autoprogrammer FZ900G1.
  • Numerical adjustment of phase and line frequency on multistandard and modified models.
  • Tuning drifts (after a while).
  • Input of averages at memory loss of analogue values.
  • No adjustment of colour, contrast or brightness with RC.
  • White picture with flyback lines at switch on. Switches off and PSU starts hiccupping then loss of picture. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • No horizontal or vertical deflection. (picture attached)
  • No picture. No display. Hiss from speakers. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • No line time base. (FS967 tip from BAUR)
  • Horizontal line 2/3 of the way up the screen. No picture and no sound. Defective vertical module.
  • Moire pattern. only on certain channels.
  • Horizontal thin line in upper third of picture, the rest is dark.
  • Sound pulsates after switch on, volume generally too low.
  • Line tearing - moving slowly from top to bottom.
  • Entry of mean values (brightness, contrast etc.).
  • No TXT (after a while).
  • Slight moire effect in AV which varies with brightness and the mains voltage.
  • Poor RC sensitivity.
  • Black screen and no sound. Channel tuning ok. Display ok.
  • No picture. No sound. Loud ticking from speaker, which is visible on data line.
  • No picture. No display. after start-up.
  • BU508A defective after 30 mins even when tripler has been disconnected.
  • Distorted vertical lines.
  • Field collapse with a small amount of scan above and below the line. (part of circuit diagram displayed) (service info for BAUR -FS967)
  • No picture, only thin, faint, horizontal line.
  • No or almost no sound. Popping from all speakers.
  • Brightness varies.
  • Interference in picture, slightly wavy over whole screen, moving up and down. (extract of circuit diagram attached) (FS967 BAUR repair tip)
  • Vertical deflection fails. Individual lines in lower half of picture. Sound very high with interruptions
  • Changing channel raster for multistandard TVs or TVs modified in L standard which have to be connected to a French cable network system (CCE II channels).
  • Only bottom half of picture. Volume goes high/low.
  • IC4000 TDA2009 fails, especially at the moment of start up.
  • It is possible to switch through until channel 9 only.
  • Red smears in right of picture, especially when contrast and/or brightness are high.
  • Chirping.
  • When the set is connected to a cable TV-system, and certain channels cannot be received at all or only with a poor quality, probably the wrong channel grid has been set.
  • Sound cracks two-three times at start-up (also at start-up from standby).
  • Logo displayed for a short time when changing channels, display is constant, display fault.
  • No functions. Standby LED lit .

  • To make flashing disappear while switching over channel when programming from 1 to 9.
  • RC IR DATA PROGRAMMER IDP1 or IDP2: automatic programming mode "HP".
  • Focus problems. Fault occurs intermittently. .
  • In a cable system appliance should receive a French band I channel (audio carrier -6.5MHz), which is converted into a CCIR Band I channel (audio carrier +6.5MHz).
  • No start-up from standby. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Blubber at start up.
  • Programming a set using the programmer HTP89.
  • Dark screen. No channel storing. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • No start-up. LED is green.
  • No vertical synchronisation.
  • Dead.
  • In PIP to change small picture position in the corners and frame.
  • Tube problem.
  • Torn lines in an area of approx 10cm. This area wanders slowly over the screen.
  • Strange oscillation at switch on and sparks from tripler. (FS967 tips)
  • Poor audio (intermittently).
  • Picture jumps at switch on.
  • Switches to standby (after a while).
  • Goes to standby when switching on with power switch. Switch on OK via RC. (FS967 BAUR repair tip)
  • No raster and no sound while a screaming noise comes from the line output transformer. (picture attached)
  • No start up of line BU.
  • Hum in audio.
  • Shuts down. after start-up.
  • No start-up (intermittently).
  • Dark screen. VHT present. When trying to tune C-00 appears. Introduces channel but no sound or picture.
  • Stuck in standby. Red LED blinks.
  • Switches to standby intermittently or switches off.
  • Sound hiccups.
  • Adaptation of band-1 CCIR channel (+6.5MHz sound) of a reception in band 1 of a channel with L standards (-6.5MHz sound carrier).
  • Goes into standby prematurely after remaining off for a certain time.
  • When switching on the line transformer makes a loud humming noise.
  • Only stereo segment lights up in the display.
  • Jumps back to Standby or to optimal value, if an analogue function is pressed on the RCU.
  • Line BU is defective. 152V fails when a new BU is fitted. PSU is correct.
  • White screen after replacement of IF. Switches to AV at switch on.
  • Horizontal tearing. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Excessive brightness. Flyback lines.
  • Vertical foldover at top.
  • White screen with white line. Protective circuit is activated after 30 mins. (service info for BAUR -FS967)
  • If appliance is switched off via RC only program display goes off. The set keeps functioning and does not respond to RC.
  • Line tearing. (BAUR - FS967 information)
  • No start-up.
  • Flickering picture after warm-up. White spots in picture intermittently. Audio OK.
  • Dark picture. Brightness, contrast and colour can be adjusted. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • No function when very high voltage present and good power supply.
  • No reception of the CCIR high channels.
  • No picture. Intermittent audio. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Stuck in standby. (picture attached)
  • Erratic display.
  • Incorrect linearity and picture foldover. (FS967 tip from BAUR)
  • Vertical collapse. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • At switch on only program displayed is present.
  • E/W fault. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • Sound is missing or picture is only black/white on individual channels.
  • Loss of stereo sound. Stereo indication flashes in STEREO. (FS967 BAUR repair tip)
  • TDA8140 and BU508 defective after 2 days. (FS967 BAUR repair tip)
  • Switches to standby (intermittently).
  • For repair works, the set must not switch off 10 minutes after closedown or in case of a station breakdown. This state cannot be stored. (FS967 tips)
  • No picture.
  • Lines in picture. (FS967 tip from BAUR)
  • Intermittently insufficient picture height, black stripes in lower picture area.
  • Switching off the two-digit programme sites (10-29, 10-49, 10-99 depending on the individual set). Switchover using the numeric buttons will therefore become quicker. Two-digit programme sites can still be chosen with rocker switch.
  • Switches off by itself. Knock sensitive.
  • No picture. No sound. Bright screen with interference.
  • No picture, only snow.
  • Horizontal line. on upper half screen. No vertical deflection. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • No functions. Display OK . (FS967 tip from BAUR)
  • The picture is extremely overloaded. Bright parts of the picture cause flags.
  • Intermittent failure to start up (completely) at switch on with mains switch. (picture attached)
  • After a few days line BU is defective again. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Fleck of light when switching off the appliance.
  • No program reception on channel 9.
  • Poor audio. (FS967 BAUR repair tip)
  • Horizontal white line.
  • Loud noise from line transformer. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • BU508A gets too hot and then fails. (picture attached)
  • Digital adjustment of the line frequency and the line phase in multistandard and on appliances converted to multistandard.
  • No picture. Display OK .
  • Striations in AV position.
  • After days or weeks IC500 (TDA8140) then T541 fails. (picture attached)
  • No picture. Sound OK via AV.
  • Line transistor fails intermittently. (FS967 BAUR repair tip)
  • Thin white line in middle of upper half of screen.
  • Setting of automatic standby time is lost after 10 mins without a signal. Function has to be reset after every start up.
  • Poor switching to AV mode. Tuner picture stays behind picture.
  • Dead. Standby LED flashes .
  • Tripping.
  • Picture is frizzy. Line BU heats up and blows after 2 mins. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • Start up in "AV", (1AV).
  • IC500 (TDA8140) and T541 (S2000A) are excessively overheated. After approx 20 mins IC500 and T541 fail. Drive signals and output signal ok. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Excessive horizontal size.
  • White screen.
  • Picture height cannot be adjusted, raster module is ok.
  • 1AV appears when switching on with the mains switch. When you press 1 on the remote control channel 1 comes on. Moreover no high channels can be set, except for SK18 and this only when SK20 is adjusted.
  • Loud grunting from IF. No raster, just a line almost at top of picture.
  • No brightness, no sound, no programme memory and impossible to memorise again.
  • No reception of CCIR high channels. Appliance receives a cable channel with French standard (Display indicates n1).
  • No luminance. Audio OK .
  • Shuts down. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Cracking at switch on. (with circuit diagram extract) (FS967 tip from BAUR)
  • When switching channels the "momentary" channel display remains on.
  • Blank raster. Reduced vertical size. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • Horizontal stripe. at bottom.
  • Changing over to the differing French cable channel raster.
  • Coloured spots in top corners (colour purity). (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Restless picture. Interference on line synchronisation. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Only UHF channel 49. Scanner works but no tuning.
  • Switches to standby. intermittently (when cold).
  • Distorted audio.
  • In AV playback, in the background the picture of another station received by the TV runs through.
  • Appliance switches automatically to program site AV instead of program site 1.
  • No display. No stand-by indicator. However comes on at once but no function.
  • TDA8140 heats up and blows a few hours after having been replaced. Before failure sharp noise in FBT (too fast to be located). (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Line BU heats up and fails after approx. 1hr. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • HV completely present only after operation time.
  • No audio. (picture attached)
  • The line BU blows after 5 mins. TDA8140 and the tripler have already been changed but the fault is still there.
  • Line BU (S2000A) is defective. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • How to modify appliance operating condition by means of reset when switching on with mains switch. (FS967 BAUR repair tip)
  • No functions.
  • No raster deflection. Line on 1/3 of the top of the screen.
