VRPSYNC / BEAULIEU [Video recorder - VHS HiFi]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for VRPSYNC / BEAULIEU.
List of fault symptoms:
- No EE and no test bars possible. Playback is ok.
- During record the appliance jumps automatically back to play mode.
- Picture vibrates, motor noise audible. (service info for BEAULIEU -VRPSYNC)
- During slow motion and forward picture search, the tape will not move forward. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Tracking fix adjustment.
- Tape is damaged.
- The supply reel does not move. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- No REW. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- The winding solenoid does not pull in (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- The old sound is not erased and the new sound is only occasionally on the tape. (with circuit diagram extract)
- No rewind (appliance displays REW, tape winds in the opposite direction).
- The supply and take-up motors do not brake. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Supporting belt slipping off.
- No picture. in PB.
- All LED segments light and switch off after short period. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Audio PB level adjustment.
- The colour is bad with own recording
- After switching on the loading motor turns, loud noises can be heard and after approx. 10 sec. the appliance switches off again.

- Tape damage during search. (picture attached)
- During play the appliance laces up as normal but the capstan does not start. The appliance switches off again. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- On FF and play the take-up motor will not turn. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- No capstan rotation. Shuts down.
- Appliance shows insert function on the display, but will not record the picture that is shown on the TV. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Does not change channels. after a while.
- Regulated +5V adjustment.
- Cassette flap springs open or does not open at all. (VRPSYNC tip from BEAULIEU)

- No start-up. No operation. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- No audio. in E-E.
- Mechanism jammed.
- During own recording only chroma is present, luminance is missing completely. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Confirmation of chrominance recording current.
- No power (F601 O/P). (picture attached)

- Fine slow speed adjustment.
- No colour in PB.
- Drum/head speed fast. No functions. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Supply motor locks up or runs jerkily
- Replacement of video processor U4606. (BEAULIEU - VRPSYNC information)
- The power supply unit is defective. During switching on the new fitted IC1002 burns off immediately.
- The programmes cannot be changed on the timer.
- Audio bias level adjustment.
- The servo turns too fast, the picture runs. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Sometimes "B" is shown in the display and the appliance switches off. "C" for battery failure shows on the display. (BEAULIEU - VRPSYNC information)
- No function, stop LED flashes.
- During play the cassette does not start

- With the camera connected to the recorder, the video signal is not switched from the camera to the recorder. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Venetian blind effect. Colour intensity is too low. (with circuit diagram extract)

- Drum/head speed fast.
- Appliance does not go to Record-Pause when the camera is connected and switched on and the switch at the front of the camera is in Remote. No clock data (5V) on camera plug pin4.
- The speed of the head drum varies rhythmically.
- Laces up, the capstan stays still, the appliance unlaces again. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Under cold conditions the appliance does not display colour. (picture attached)
- Won't Play. Capstan appears to be seized solid.
- Record does not function (only noise).
- High output of the main supply of the AVR. Head drum does not work. (with circuit diagram extract)
- When the recorder is operated with a battery, it switches off after 15 sec. (with circuit diagram extract)
- No camera picture or E/E picture.
- Intermittent colour.
- Only a few or no segments are shown on the display.
- During freeze frame the top third of the picture shows disturbance. The individual picture switching is ok.
- Under-cut voltage adjustment.
- Distorted picture.

- The tape CTL lead is damaged during reverse search, tape loops form on lever No.60 during forward search. (service info for BEAULIEU -VRPSYNC)
- No REW or CUE. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Own recording and pre recording shows rhythmic interference lines.
- Snow in picture.
- The DEW indication blinks in the display; it switches off after a short time. Eject functions. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- No REW. FF works only a sec.
- The connected camera does not work.
- The video signal is not switched through, the board is sensitive to pressure. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- No initialisation, the head drum runs too fast. (picture attached)

- The picture shakes back and forth horizontally and the appliance meanwhile makes noises.
- The appliance vibrates extremely and there are drive noises during winding.

- Luminance REC current adjustment.

- The capstan motor does not turn, the top stays open. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Capstan speed fast.
- During record and playback the capstan runs continuously.

- The compartment does not close.

- The tape hangs out of the cassette during eject. The appliance becomes intermittent during rewind.
- The reel motors occasionally run jerkily. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- In REW right reel table turns left instead of turning right. IC2501 heats up. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- No E/E picture, no recording possible when passing through the camera input. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- The display flickers and the appliance switches off after a short time.
- Set switches from REC to PB.
- Approx 3cm wide interference stripe in top half of picture, only in freeze frame.
- The appliance does not switch on, the display lights, but does not take any functions. (with circuit diagram extract)
- The appliance can be switched on, the DEW indication appears and the appliance switches off.
- Switches off by itself. after a few hours. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- After playing for a longer time the capstan motor stops and the recorder switches off. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- The tuner video signal is not fed through the HF-converter or the AV output, PB is ok. (VRPSYNC tips)
- HF-convertor - no HF picture(video output is OK).
- The cassette compartment remains pulled in.
- No drum/head rotation. intermittently. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- The appliance shows a small "d" and then switches off.
- The left reel table does not brake, rewind is not possible. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Picture VR adjustment.
- No capstan rotation. (with circuit diagram extract)
- The lower part of the picture is snowy (looks like a defective video head). (BEAULIEU - VRPSYNC information)
- No mechanical functions.
- Drum turns but otherwise appliance does not function.
