List of fault symptoms:
  • Does not load tape. intermittently.

  • Eject when switching over from reverse to normal.
  • Poor cassette loading and lacing.

  • Longplay recording is not possible, loses track position.
  • Small end cog splits then slips when torque is applied.
  • Difficult tape drive in PB.
  • Poor load or eject.
  • Tape laces in. PB for approx. 4 secs then switches into stop position.
  • Tape is not taken up. (7618375 tips)
  • No mechanical functions. Eject OK .
  • Mechanism does not move although the threading motor runs.
  • Does not load cassette completely. Accepts cassette, briefly REW and then ejects.
  • Cassette is not loaded or ejected. Lacing motor runs.
  • Cassette is not accepted. Compartment is not lowered and motor does not start up.
  • Tape is ejected when PB, FF or REW selected.
  • Mechanism jammed. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • No ATTS.
  • Holder for pulse roller pos.110 and 107 is defective.
  • When unlacing the tape lever remains pressed on and the threading ring does not go to its starting position.
  • Tape is not thread in after eject.
  • Slow tape loading. Interference on picture via tuner when loading.
  • Cassette is retracted immediately after eject.
  • When lacing in tape slips behind the back tension lever.
  • Tape stuck. After removing does not accept tapes.
  • No mechanical functions. (BLAUPUNKT - 7618375 information)
  • Tape stuck inside when switching from REW or FF to eject.
  • Rewind of a VHS cassette at top speed does not respect the stop at the end of the tape if the duration of the tape is not suitably selected. No slowing down at the end of the tape. There is a risk of destroying the tape. (picture attached)
  • In service function A5 the cassette is not taken. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • Ejects tape after 5 seconds of rewind.
  • No lacing in.
  • A tape can be loaded and goes to the cassette-down position but nothing else happens.
  • Damages tape, especially with 240 mins cassettes.
  • VCR doesn't respond to the RC. RC works well with the TV.
  • Cassette loader gear often jumps.
  • Tape is damaged.
  • Tape stuck. intermittently.
  • After EJECT, appliance loads cassette by itself.
  • Appliance ejects and then re-accepts cassette again. Tape laces up but no mechanical functions. PB is OK. When ejecting cassette, mains plug must be disconnected and connected again.
  • Lacing mechanism is defective.
  • Deck threads very slowly.
  • Not accepts tape. Goes to standby when try to insert tape.
  • Intermittently tape loop on eject.
  • Cassette compartment stuck. Cannot be moved with eject.
  • Cassette stuck. No function possible. "Inoperative" is displayed.
  • REW and FFW are defective. CUE and REV normal.
  • No display. No user control. Tape is lowered.
  • Tape is not taken up to the audio control head.
  • Creases tapes. Noise bands on screen. Displays "TRACK".
  • Switches off REC and PB sometimes, unlaces and rewinds.
  • Drive does not work correctly and is noisy.
  • Drive problems, eject, insert, lace up do not function or not always.
  • The cassette compartment does not lower and the compartment guide is bent.
  • Appliance does not accept the cassette (not even in service function A5)
  • Loud rattling when rewinding. FF ok. (7618375 tip from BLAUPUNKT)
  • Tape damage when switching from REW to Eject or from Stop to Eject.
  • PB speed changes.
  • No ATTS. Drive mechanism stops after inserting cassette.
  • Tape looping intermittently.
  • Compartment moves down. Tape is not laced in. Drive jams.
  • No functions. Left reel-table turns faintly by pulses.
  • Cassette is no longer ejected. Drive stops.
  • The left tape loading loosens.
  • Does not carry out drive mechanism functions or carries them out correctly only sometimes, nontransparent faulty picture.
  • No sound when recording E2 and E1, from E1 and E2 to HF and from E2 to E1. During REC of E1 to E2 and during PB via HF and E1, E2 sound is ok. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • Al expulsar la cinta, la cinta no sale del casete y se queda atascada. (BLAUPUNKT - 7618375 information)
  • Faulty mechanic functions.
  • No start-up.
  • Tape damage when lacing up. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Intermittent malfunction of mechanism. (BLAUPUNKT - 7618375 information)
  • No reeling possible, otherwise everything OK.
  • Lound noise from mechanism. When ejecting tape, lift loads again and ejects by itself several times.
  • Cassette is loaded otherwise no further drive functions possible. In the Service test program under certain circumstances error code E1 (threading error) or E2 (capstan error) appears. Perhaps no display content. (7618375 BLAUPUNKT repair tip)
  • REW does not function. FF to slow.
  • Sometimes cassette sticks against flap.
  • No drive functions, only tape draw-in and eject available.
  • Cassette flap does not open. Cassette cannot be removed.
  • Cassette door does not open/close or tape is damaged.
  • Head drum motor turns but doesn't thread in after operating Play, FF, REW etc. Noise. Threads in after approx 8secs, then unthreads and switches off. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Lever 32F, that is operated by cam gear, comes out of its support after approx. 1-2 weeks. (BLAUPUNKT - 7618375 information)
  • Cassette is not accepted. Display shows "Test".
  • Tape sticks to cylinder in reverse picture search.
  • Shuts down. after start-up. Tape is ejected. Eats tape.
  • Tape immediately threads out after inserting cassette.
  • REW is hard or hardly any REW.
  • FF and REW defective. Tape is initialised for a short time, then stops.
  • Tapes are broken when winding or rewinding quickly and when you stop to go into PB. (7618375 BLAUPUNKT repair tip)
  • The tape is cut at the lower edge of the tape on the guide flange (exploded diagram nr.147).
  • Loud noises when moving cassette compartment in.
  • Deck moves up/down and in/out.
  • When trying to eject the cassette, it jams on the upper part of the operating panel.
  • Rattle during lace-up.
  • Tape stuck. in PB.
  • Tape creases.
  • Drive does not lace up properly. Tape guide bolt does not reach video head disk. Sluggish drive and does not unlace. Switches off by itself.
  • Tape loop into the drive when it stops during REV/ FF.
  • Tape is damaged. in PB (after a few seconds).
  • Does not lace up correctly. PB only after pushing play button twice. Tape loops. Cassette is not always accepted
  • Does not accept tape. Display OK . (BLAUPUNKT - 7618375 information)
  • Loads tape then ejects immediately. (7618375 tips)
  • Ejects cassette after one second in PB.
  • Cassette is not retracted. Display lights up. No function.
  • Squeaks when lacing up or during unlacing. Does not eject and the lacing belt slips through.
  • Tape is ejected and then drawn back.
  • Rattling in fast forward.
  • Appliance is continually in tracking. Sometimes it functions for several seconds.
  • Deck goes to REW for approx 2 secs repeating 3 times then goes to FF for 4 secs then EJECTS tape. Accepts tape OK. Half load arm loads OK. (7618375 tip from BLAUPUNKT)
  • After playing for a long time the appliance does not unlace.
  • No eject. Does not accept cassette when manually wound; PB and REC OK.
  • Mechanical rattling or cassette is ejected in FF and REW.
  • Loads tape then ejects immediately. Switches to protection mode (intermittently).
  • OK for short time from standby or when tape inserted; then immediately ejects tape and goes back to standby.
  • Occasionally, after cassette has been introduced, pre-loading does not occur. Cassette has to be ejected again. If PLAY button is pressed, appliance switches off. It can be restarted only after disconnecting mains.
  • Cassette blocked and noise from the gears when connecting to the mains. (7618375 tip from BLAUPUNKT)
  • Poor tape guide at pinch roller.
  • Cassette is ejected if you switch from PLAY to STOP and REV. (7618375 tip from BLAUPUNKT)
  • Intermittently tape is ejected when PB, FF or REC selected.
  • Tape is damaged. No audio.
  • The right reel table does not run, appliance forms tape loops and shows F6 on the display.
  • Tape loops.
  • No FF. intermittently. No REW. intermittently. PB OK . Mechanical noise.
  • Tape is not fully laced into the cassette when ejecting (tape loop with tape damage). Slow FFW and switches back to picture search
  • Goes to FF or CUE.
  • On eject command, tape is ejected, but then automatically taken back. Tape is stuck and mechanism does not function any more.
  • Tape is not ejecting correctly.
  • Difficult to insert cassette or does not accept cassette.
  • Intermittent tape loops.
  • Tape retracts, ATTS is not carried out, no reaction to transport mode. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • VCR 1 - VCR 2. Adjustment of VCR; adjustment of RC. The adjustment must be performed if the VCR works via front keys and it displays VCR 1 (or 2) via RC.
  • Mechanism blocks when loading. (BLAUPUNKT - 7618375 information)
  • Does not accept tape.
  • No eject. Other functions OK .
  • Tape winds round capstan shaft when cassette has lowered. Display shows F1. In service function A5 the compartment goes down, capstan shaft turns immediately and transport ring turns slowly when lacing up. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Starts PB then right reel table stops. Tape is too tight when coming out of supply reel table. (BLAUPUNKT - 7618375 information)
  • Loads tape then ejects immediately. intermittently.
  • Tape is not loaded around video head and cassette ejected after 15 secs. Cassette loading ok.
  • Tape stuck. when ejected.
  • Cassette is immediately ejected. Cassette compartment is correctly positioned in appliance. Reads in.
  • Poor loading.
  • Tape stuck.
  • Tape is lowered into cassette compartment but comes up again immediately.
  • Tape is damaged. when ejected.
  • No deck functions when cassette inserted.
  • Squeaking from the appliance and waves in the picture after some time.
  • Threading motor seized up and its drive chip burnt out.
  • Tooth segments of the front flap are damaged.
  • EJECTS when any function selected.
  • Operating noises in FF and REW.
  • No tape movement in PB, FF or REW.
  • Tapes tangle, sometimes eject and sometimes just switch off when PB.
  • Does not eject normally. (7618375 tip from BLAUPUNKT)
  • Loads tape then ejects immediately. Shuts down.
  • Laces up tape at initialisation, but does not transport it. Clock disappears.
  • A loop of tape left out upon eject. Noisy FF and REW. Damaging tape upon PB.
  • The cassette is not pulled in straight
  • Defective driver, clatters, accepts no tape.
  • No ATTS detection, only counter.
  • Does not load the cassette or lace up the tape. Fault may occur intermittently or constantly.
  • Tape forms loops. When operating in service function A 5 the appliance laces up, but the video head and capstan do not turn. No further functions are taken. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • Defective thread in. (7618375 tips)
  • Does not load tape. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Cassette is accepted and then ejected with tape loops. REW appears on display.
  • No drive function.
  • Accepts a tape, loads up, then immediately ejects, leaving tape looped inside.
  • Tape loops occur if reeling process is interrupted.
  • Tapes E30 and E60 are damaged at the start of the tape after rewind if long play is selected. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Tape left out of cassette when eject is selected.
  • Cassette compartment goes up and down. No display.
