7618900 RTV240EGC / BLAUPUNKT [Video recorder]

List of fault symptoms:
  • Tape is not taken up.
  • Does not load tape. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Rattle during lace-up.
  • Head drum motor turns but doesn't thread in after operating Play, FF, REW etc. Noise. Threads in after approx 8secs, then unthreads and switches off. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • In service function A5 the cassette is not taken. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • Tape is not loaded around video head and cassette ejected after 15 secs. Cassette loading ok. (7618900 tips)
  • REW and FFW are defective. CUE and REV normal. (BLAUPUNKT - 7618900 information)
  • Sometimes cassette sticks against flap.
  • Tape is not taken up to the audio control head.
  • Tooth segments of the front flap are damaged.
  • The brass tape lever next to the pinch roller twitches during play, the take- up reel runs jerkily.
  • Sync frequency adjustment.
  • OK for short time from standby or when tape inserted; then immediately ejects tape and goes back to standby.
  • Starts PB then right reel table stops. Tape is too tight when coming out of supply reel table.
  • Tape is ejected and then drawn back.
  • Tape is lowered into cassette compartment but comes up again immediately.
  • Occasionally, after cassette has been introduced, pre-loading does not occur. Cassette has to be ejected again. If PLAY button is pressed, appliance switches off. It can be restarted only after disconnecting mains.
  • Tape stuck.
  • No tape movement in PB, FF or REW.
  • Tape retracts, ATTS is not carried out, no reaction to transport mode. (picture attached)

  • Tape loop into the drive when it stops during REV/ FF.
  • Tapes are broken when winding or rewinding quickly and when you stop to go into PB.
  • Tape stuck. intermittently.
  • Squeaking from the appliance and waves in the picture after some time. (7618900 tips)
  • The cassette is not pulled in straight
  • Cassette is no longer ejected. Drive stops.
  • Does not load tape. intermittently.
  • Cassette flap does not open. Cassette cannot be removed.
  • No lacing in.
  • Cassette stuck. No function possible. "Inoperative" is displayed.
  • Cassette is not loaded or ejected. Lacing motor runs.
  • Holder for pulse roller pos.110 and 107 is defective. (7618900 tip from BLAUPUNKT)
  • Tape forms loops. When operating in service function A 5 the appliance laces up, but the video head and capstan do not turn. No further functions are taken. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • No eject. Other functions OK .
  • PAL chrominance writing current adjustment.
  • Poor tape guide at pinch roller.
  • Tape is damaged. when ejected.
  • On eject command, tape is ejected, but then automatically taken back. Tape is stuck and mechanism does not function any more.
  • REW does not function. FF to slow.
  • When trying to eject the cassette, it jams on the upper part of the operating panel. (7618900 tip from BLAUPUNKT)
  • Cassette is not accepted. Display shows "Test".
  • Compartment moves down. Tape is not laced in. Drive jams.
  • Lacing mechanism is defective.
  • Intermittent tape loops.
  • Display pos. 7102 (4822 130 91144) on MDCP1.
  • Tape left out of cassette when eject is selected.
  • Rewind of a VHS cassette at top speed does not respect the stop at the end of the tape if the duration of the tape is not suitably selected. No slowing down at the end of the tape. There is a risk of destroying the tape. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • Appliance does not accept the cassette (not even in service function A5)
  • Drive does not work correctly and is noisy.
  • Luminance writing current adjustment.
  • Tape creases.

  • Cassette compartment stuck. Cannot be moved with eject.
  • No functions. Left reel-table turns faintly by pulses.
  • Deck goes to REW for approx 2 secs repeating 3 times then goes to FF for 4 secs then EJECTS tape. Accepts tape OK. Half load arm loads OK.
  • FF and REW defective. Tape is initialised for a short time, then stops.
  • No audio REC or old REC is not erased. (picture attached)
  • Laces up tape at initialisation, but does not transport it. Clock disappears.
  • Longplay recording is not possible, loses track position. (7618900 BLAUPUNKT repair tip)

  • Threading motor seized up and its drive chip burnt out.
  • Drive does not lace up properly. Tape guide bolt does not reach video head disk. Sluggish drive and does not unlace. Switches off by itself. (7618900 BLAUPUNKT repair tip)
  • REW is hard or hardly any REW.
  • Tape loops.
  • Tape loops occur if reeling process is interrupted.
  • New compartment construction WD22.
  • Al expulsar la cinta, la cinta no sale del casete y se queda atascada.
  • No ATTS detection, only counter.
  • The right reel table does not run, appliance forms tape loops and shows F6 on the display.
  • Damages tape, especially with 240 mins cassettes. (service info for BLAUPUNKT -7618900)
  • The left tape loading loosens.
  • E-E level adjustment.
  • Tape is damaged.
  • Cassette door does not open/close or tape is damaged. (7618900 BLAUPUNKT repair tip)
  • Ejects cassette after one second in PB.
  • No ATTS.
  • When unlacing the tape lever remains pressed on and the threading ring does not go to its starting position.
  • Deck moves up/down and in/out.
  • No display. No user control. Tape is lowered.
  • When lacing in tape slips behind the back tension lever.

  • Loud noises when moving cassette compartment in. (7618900 BLAUPUNKT repair tip)
  • No eject. Tape loops.
  • No drive functions, only tape draw-in and eject available.
  • Shuts down. after start-up. Tape is ejected. Eats tape.
  • Cassette blocked and noise from the gears when connecting to the mains.
  • A loop of tape left out upon eject. Noisy FF and REW. Damaging tape upon PB.
  • Cassette compartment goes up and down. No display.
  • Rattling in fast forward.
  • The tape is cut at the lower edge of the tape on the guide flange (exploded diagram nr.147). (7618900 tip from BLAUPUNKT)
  • No reeling possible, otherwise everything OK.
  • Switching on/off TV modulator.
  • Does not lace up correctly. PB only after pushing play button twice. Tape loops. Cassette is not always accepted
  • Cassette is immediately ejected. Cassette compartment is correctly positioned in appliance. Reads in.
  • Slow tape loading. Interference on picture via tuner when loading.
  • EJECTS when any function selected.
  • New capacitors 2620 and 2622. (picture attached)
  • VCR doesn't respond to the RC. RC works well with the TV.
  • Drive problems, eject, insert, lace up do not function or not always.
  • Goes to FF or CUE.
  • Operating noises in FF and REW.
  • Tape immediately threads out after inserting cassette.
  • Eject when switching over from reverse to normal.
  • Accepts a tape, loads up, then immediately ejects, leaving tape looped inside.
  • Tape laces in. PB for approx. 4 secs then switches into stop position.
  • Mechanism does not move although the threading motor runs.
  • Switches off REC and PB sometimes, unlaces and rewinds.
  • Cassette loader gear often jumps.
  • Tape stuck inside when switching from REW or FF to eject.
  • Faulty mechanic functions.
  • Difficult tape drive in PB.

  • Tape stuck. After removing does not accept tapes.
  • Intermittent malfunction of mechanism.
  • Does not accept tape. Display OK .

  • Does not carry out drive mechanism functions or carries them out correctly only sometimes, nontransparent faulty picture.
  • No mechanical functions.
  • Lound noise from mechanism. When ejecting tape, lift loads again and ejects by itself several times.
  • PB speed changes.
  • Cassette is loaded otherwise no further drive functions possible. In the Service test program under certain circumstances error code E1 (threading error) or E2 (capstan error) appears. Perhaps no display content. (BLAUPUNKT - 7618900 information)
  • Tape is ejected when PB, FF or REW selected.
  • Does not load cassette completely. Accepts cassette, briefly REW and then ejects.
  • Defective thread in.
  • Appliance ejects and then re-accepts cassette again. Tape laces up but no mechanical functions. PB is OK. When ejecting cassette, mains plug must be disconnected and connected again.
  • Difficult to insert cassette or does not accept cassette.
  • SECAM chrominance writing current adjustment.
  • Loud rattling when rewinding. FF ok.
  • Tape stuck. in PB.
  • Tape is damaged. No audio.

  • No start-up.
  • VCR 1 - VCR 2. Adjustment of VCR; adjustment of RC. The adjustment must be performed if the VCR works via front keys and it displays VCR 1 (or 2) via RC.
  • Loads tape then ejects immediately. intermittently.
  • Mechanism jammed. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Poor loading.
  • Poor cassette loading and lacing.
  • No deck functions when cassette inserted.
  • Ejects tape after 5 seconds of rewind.
  • Does not erase audio. intermittently.
  • Tape is not fully laced into the cassette when ejecting (tape loop with tape damage). Slow FFW and switches back to picture search
  • The cassette compartment does not lower and the compartment guide is bent.
  • Tape winds round capstan shaft when cassette has lowered. Display shows F1. In service function A5 the compartment goes down, capstan shaft turns immediately and transport ring turns slowly when lacing up. (picture attached)
  • Mechanical rattling or cassette is ejected in FF and REW.
  • Loads tape then ejects immediately. Switches to protection mode (intermittently).
  • Appliance is continually in tracking. Sometimes it functions for several seconds.
  • After playing for a long time the appliance does not unlace.
  • Does not accept tape.
  • No eject. Does not accept cassette when manually wound; PB and REC OK.
  • Tape sticks to cylinder in reverse picture search.
  • No drive function.
  • Tape looping intermittently.
  • No ATTS. Drive mechanism stops after inserting cassette. (7618900 tip from BLAUPUNKT)
  • Luminance PB level adjustment.
  • Tapes tangle, sometimes eject and sometimes just switch off when PB.
  • Tape stuck. when ejected. (BLAUPUNKT - 7618900 information)
  • After EJECT, appliance loads cassette by itself.
  • Creases tapes. Noise bands on screen. Displays "TRACK".
  • No mechanical functions. Eject OK .
  • Cassette is accepted and then ejected with tape loops. REW appears on display.
  • Setting clock frequency.
  • Tape is damaged. in PB (after a few seconds).
  • Tapes E30 and E60 are damaged at the start of the tape after rewind if long play is selected. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Changes on operating panel MDCP1 -> MDCP2.
  • Tape is not thread in after eject.
  • Deck threads very slowly. (BLAUPUNKT - 7618900 information)
  • Mechanism blocks when loading.
  • A tape can be loaded and goes to the cassette-down position but nothing else happens.
  • Intermittently tape loop on eject.
  • Poor load or eject.
  • Lever 32F, that is operated by cam gear, comes out of its support after approx. 1-2 weeks.
  • Cassette is ejected if you switch from PLAY to STOP and REV.
  • Intermittently tape is ejected when PB, FF or REC selected. (7618900 BLAUPUNKT repair tip)
  • Defective driver, clatters, accepts no tape.
  • Cassette is not retracted. Display lights up. No function.
  • Loads tape then ejects immediately. Shuts down.
  • Does not eject normally.
  • Small end cog splits then slips when torque is applied.
  • Not accepts tape. Goes to standby when try to insert tape.
  • Tape is not ejecting correctly.
  • Cassette is retracted immediately after eject.
  • Does not load the cassette or lace up the tape. Fault may occur intermittently or constantly.
  • Tape damage when switching from REW to Eject or from Stop to Eject.
  • Cassette is not accepted. Compartment is not lowered and motor does not start up. (service info for BLAUPUNKT -7618900)
  • Squeaks when lacing up or during unlacing. Does not eject and the lacing belt slips through.
