List of fault symptoms:
  • Picture twitches. No colour. (7618906 tip from BLAUPUNKT)
  • Lound noise from mechanism. When ejecting tape, lift loads again and ejects by itself several times.

  • No eject. Does not accept cassette when manually wound; PB and REC OK.
  • Cassette is accepted and then ejected with tape loops. REW appears on display.
  • Head drum motor turns but doesn't thread in after operating Play, FF, REW etc. Noise. Threads in after approx 8secs, then unthreads and switches off. (picture attached)
  • FF and REW defective. Tape is initialised for a short time, then stops.
  • Loads tape then ejects immediately. intermittently.
  • Tape stuck.
  • VCR 1 - VCR 2. Adjustment of VCR; adjustment of RC. The adjustment must be performed if the VCR works via front keys and it displays VCR 1 (or 2) via RC.
  • No tape movement in PB, FF or REW.
  • Tooth segments of the front flap are damaged.
  • No mechanical functions.
  • Lacing mechanism is defective.
  • Cassette stuck. No function possible. "Inoperative" is displayed.
  • Tape looping intermittently.

  • Nominal FM deviation adjustment for 1,8MHz.
  • Difficult tape drive in PB.
  • Display shows "Blocked" in each function.

  • After playing for a long time the appliance does not unlace.

  • No ATTS detection, only counter.

  • Tape stuck. in PB.
  • Compartment moves down. Tape is not laced in. Drive jams.
  • Blocks occasionally or does not perform any commands.
  • Interference bars in middle of the picture in freeze frame.
  • Sometimes no operation.
  • Does not load the cassette or lace up the tape. Fault may occur intermittently or constantly.
  • Occasionally, after cassette has been introduced, pre-loading does not occur. Cassette has to be ejected again. If PLAY button is pressed, appliance switches off. It can be restarted only after disconnecting mains.
  • Deck goes to REW for approx 2 secs repeating 3 times then goes to FF for 4 secs then EJECTS tape. Accepts tape OK. Half load arm loads OK.
  • After EJECT, appliance loads cassette by itself.
  • Poor load or eject.
  • Tapes E30 and E60 are damaged at the start of the tape after rewind if long play is selected. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Damages tape, especially with 240 mins cassettes.
  • No ATTS.
  • OK for short time from standby or when tape inserted; then immediately ejects tape and goes back to standby.

  • Squeaks when lacing up or during unlacing. Does not eject and the lacing belt slips through.
  • No display. No user control. Tape is lowered.
  • No FF. intermittently. No REW. intermittently. PB OK . Mechanical noise.
  • REW does not function. FF to slow.
  • REW is hard or hardly any REW.
  • Cassette is not loaded or ejected. Lacing motor runs.
  • Difficult to insert cassette or does not accept cassette.
  • Disable child lock.
  • Mechanism does not move although the threading motor runs.
  • The cassette compartment does not lower and the compartment guide is bent.
  • The left tape loading loosens.
  • Goes to FF or CUE.
  • No reeling possible, otherwise everything OK.

  • Cassette blocked and noise from the gears when connecting to the mains.
  • Tripping.
  • A tape can be loaded and goes to the cassette-down position but nothing else happens.
  • REW and FFW are defective. CUE and REV normal.
  • Nominal FM deviation adjustment.
  • Lever 32F, that is operated by cam gear, comes out of its support after approx. 1-2 weeks.
  • Slow tape loading. Interference on picture via tuner when loading.
  • Nominal FM deviation adjustment for 1,4MHz.
  • No fast forward/rewind - all other functions o/k.
  • Mechanism blocks when loading.
  • Sometimes appliance can no longer be operated.
  • Does not accept tape. Display OK .
  • Al expulsar la cinta, la cinta no sale del casete y se queda atascada.

  • Deck threads very slowly.
  • No eject. Tape loops.
  • Appliance ejects and then re-accepts cassette again. Tape laces up but no mechanical functions. PB is OK. When ejecting cassette, mains plug must be disconnected and connected again.

  • PB speed changes.
  • The right reel table does not run, appliance forms tape loops and shows F6 on the display.
  • Does not lace up correctly. PB only after pushing play button twice. Tape loops. Cassette is not always accepted

  • Tape left out of cassette when eject is selected.
  • Tape is lowered into cassette compartment but comes up again immediately.

  • New cassette lift drive with turbo drive from WD22.
  • No start-up.
  • No eject. Other functions OK .
  • Sometimes cassette sticks against flap.
  • No E to E. (picture attached)
  • Tapes are broken when winding or rewinding quickly and when you stop to go into PB.

  • Tape sticks to cylinder in reverse picture search.
  • Drive problems, eject, insert, lace up do not function or not always.
  • EJECTS when any function selected.
  • Changed clutch lever pos 114 482240371173
  • Rattling in fast forward. (7618906 tip from BLAUPUNKT)
  • New µP software version in the drive electronics.
  • VCR doesn't respond to the RC. RC works well with the TV.
  • Tape winds round capstan shaft when cassette has lowered. Display shows F1. In service function A5 the compartment goes down, capstan shaft turns immediately and transport ring turns slowly when lacing up. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • Accepts a tape, loads up, then immediately ejects, leaving tape looped inside.
  • Ticking noise from power supply. (Appliance does not run to correct speed any longer).
  • Rewind of a VHS cassette at top speed does not respect the stop at the end of the tape if the duration of the tape is not suitably selected. No slowing down at the end of the tape. There is a risk of destroying the tape. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • Mechanical rattling or cassette is ejected in FF and REW.
  • No functions. No display.
  • Cassette is not retracted. Display lights up. No function.
  • Tape is damaged. No audio.

  • Low mono audio; colour on previous recording may remain.

  • Cassette is loaded otherwise no further drive functions possible. In the Service test program under certain circumstances error code E1 (threading error) or E2 (capstan error) appears. Perhaps no display content.
  • The brass tape lever next to the pinch roller twitches during play, the take- up reel runs jerkily.
  • Resistors R3124 and R3151 in the deck electronics on board on board LFBU are burnt. Connections of transistors 7110 and 7111 have become discharged.
