7618983 RTV246EC / BLAUPUNKT [Video recorder - VHS HiFi]

The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers supplies the following faults for 7618983 / BLAUPUNKT.

List of fault symptoms:
  • After playing for a long time the appliance does not unlace.
  • Difficult to insert cassette or does not accept cassette.
  • Service info: PSUs MSM1 and MSM1A are fitted with 2 different ICs.
  • Cassette is not retracted. Display lights up. No function.
  • Lever 32F, that is operated by cam gear, comes out of its support after approx. 1-2 weeks.
  • Squeaks when lacing up or during unlacing. Does not eject and the lacing belt slips through.

  • Tapes tangle, sometimes eject and sometimes just switch off when PB.
  • Does not load cassette completely. Accepts cassette, briefly REW and then ejects.
  • Dead after spillage.
  • No picture via scart or incorrect picture in PB or during tuner reception.
  • Occasionally, after cassette has been introduced, pre-loading does not occur. Cassette has to be ejected again. If PLAY button is pressed, appliance switches off. It can be restarted only after disconnecting mains.
  • Tape winds round capstan shaft when cassette has lowered. Display shows F1. In service function A5 the compartment goes down, capstan shaft turns immediately and transport ring turns slowly when lacing up. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • Video output level adjustment - TXT sets.
  • Mechanism jammed. (picture attached)
  • Tape is damaged.
  • Intermittent tape loops.
  • Correct setting of the clock frequency on the MDC board.
  • REW and FFW are defective. CUE and REV normal. (7618983 tips)
  • Gurgling sound. Noise in picture.
  • No mechanical functions.
  • Defective driver, clatters, accepts no tape.
  • Ejects cassette after one second in PB.
  • Picture twitches. No colour.
  • Cassette is retracted immediately after eject.
  • REW is hard or hardly any REW.
  • No user control.
  • Rewind of a VHS cassette at top speed does not respect the stop at the end of the tape if the duration of the tape is not suitably selected. No slowing down at the end of the tape. There is a risk of destroying the tape. (picture attached)

  • Tape stuck.

  • To adjust head switching points.

  • The brass tape lever next to the pinch roller twitches during play, the take- up reel runs jerkily.
  • Tapes are broken when winding or rewinding quickly and when you stop to go into PB.

  • To set clock frequency.
  • Disable child lock.

  • AFC adjustment - PAL sets.
  • Adjustment of output voltage of MSM1 (3204).
  • RF-AGC (3724) adjustment.

  • Loads tape then ejects immediately. Shuts down.
  • Cassette is not accepted. Display shows "Test".
  • Service info: new deck processor.
  • Tape is ejected and then drawn back.
  • No lacing in.
  • Tape is not thread in after eject.
  • Transducer power supply does not start up.
  • Deck goes to REW for approx 2 secs repeating 3 times then goes to FF for 4 secs then EJECTS tape. Accepts tape OK. Half load arm loads OK.
  • Video demodulator (5703) adjustment.
  • No ATTS detection, only counter.
  • Loads tape then ejects immediately.
  • No display or functions.
  • Cassette flap does not open. Cassette cannot be removed.
  • Accepts a tape, loads up, then immediately ejects, leaving tape looped inside.
  • Creases tapes. Noise bands on screen. Displays "TRACK".
  • No function. No secondary voltage. Only +33V is approx. 19V.
  • Tape stuck. in PB.
  • Drive does not work correctly and is noisy.
  • Cassette is ejected if you switch from PLAY to STOP and REV.
  • Does not load the cassette or lace up the tape. Fault may occur intermittently or constantly.
  • The tape is cut at the lower edge of the tape on the guide flange (exploded diagram nr.147).
  • A loop of tape left out upon eject. Noisy FF and REW. Damaging tape upon PB.
  • Loud noises when moving cassette compartment in.
  • Dead. "INOPERATIVE" appears on display.
  • Only part, dimly lit segments of the display can be seen.
  • Cassette stuck. No function possible. "Inoperative" is displayed.
  • Rattle during lace-up.
  • Lound noise from mechanism. When ejecting tape, lift loads again and ejects by itself several times.

  • No display. No user control. Tape is lowered.
  • Loads tape then ejects immediately. Switches to protection mode (intermittently).
  • Tape loops.
  • Squeaking from the appliance and waves in the picture after some time. (service info for BLAUPUNKT -7618983)
  • Cassette is accepted and then ejected with tape loops. REW appears on display.
  • PSU does not show any function.
  • Change in the component list
  • IC7402 overheats.
  • Tape is lowered into cassette compartment but comes up again immediately.
  • When lacing in tape slips behind the back tension lever.
  • The cassette compartment does not lower and the compartment guide is bent.
  • Tape sticks to cylinder in reverse picture search.

  • Mechanical rattling or cassette is ejected in FF and REW.
  • Sound almost normal for a short time in PB after REC, then very low sound. Sound ok in REC.
  • AC line fuse blow (at start-up).
  • Improvement of clock frequency setting.
  • Ejects tape after wind and rewind.
  • PB amplitude adjustment (3606) - linear audio section.
  • Does not accept tape. Display OK .
  • Tape is not ejecting correctly.
  • Poor tape guide at pinch roller.
  • Playback amplitude adjustment (3212).
  • Does not eject normally.

  • Bouncing picture and decreasing sound intermittently or lines running through with poor sound.
  • PB amplitude setting.

  • PB speed changes.
  • Tape is not taken up.
  • Cassette is no longer ejected. Drive stops.

  • FM dips in centre of screen, OK at top and bottom.
  • Eject when switching over from reverse to normal.

  • Operating noises in FF and REW.
  • No mechanical functions. Eject OK .

  • Tape is damaged. when ejected.
  • When a known good tape is inserted and play is selected the display consists of a monochrome picture with field jitter. If forward search is tried the fault clears and the display remains ok when you went back to play.

  • Tape damage when switching from REW to Eject or from Stop to Eject.
  • Tape is ejected. intermittently.
  • Slow tape loading. Interference on picture via tuner when loading.
  • No ATTS.

  • Mechanism does not move although the threading motor runs.

  • VCR 1 - VCR 2. Adjustment of VCR; adjustment of RC. The adjustment must be performed if the VCR works via front keys and it displays VCR 1 (or 2) via RC.

  • Tooth segments of the front flap are damaged.
  • Sound fluctuates in record and PB. Pinch roller has been changed, picture ok.
