2896 / EUROLINE [TV]

The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers supplies the following faults for 2896 / EUROLINE.

List of fault symptoms:
  • Tripping.

  • No picture.
  • Vertical line.
  • Horizontal drive fails after 20 mins. (2896 tips)
  • Line output transistor and chopper FET keep blowing at start up.
  • Line transistor has S/C.
  • Horizontal collapse. (2896 tips)
  • Reduced horizontal size. Pincushion distortion.
  • Interference lines in picture. Depends on brightness.
  • Poor picture. Audio OK .
  • No line drive. intermittently.
  • No 33V tuning supply.
  • No vertical deflection. Horizontal stripe, maybe blinking.
  • Stripes in picture. Vertical jitter.
  • Picture width reduced.
  • White horizontal stripes, depending on picture content.
  • LED blinks in standby mode. Clicks audible. (EUROLINE - 2896 information)
  • No functions. No audio. after a while.
  • Bright picture parts become dark. White horizontal stripes in the background by test picture.
  • Call up automatic station search.
  • White horizontal stripes in picture.
  • Switches off by itself (after a while). (EUROLINE - 2896 information)
  • Horizontal stripe.
  • Intermittent frame collapse, then no picture.
  • No start-up. PSU chirps.
  • Horizontal collapse. after warm-up.
  • Intermittently only noise in picture.
  • Dead. After switch-on standby LED blinks few times, then no function. (2896 tip from EUROLINE)
  • E/W IC fails repeatedly.
  • No picture just bright white screen. Sound OK.
  • No audio. No picture. OSD OK .
  • Field scan few inches across screen, no signal.
  • Mains fuse blown intermittently. (service info for EUROLINE -2896)
  • Frame collapse and a dying raster following a "low and distorted sound" repair.
  • Pincushion distortion.
  • Poor picture. Excessive horizontal size.
  • Switches to standby (intermittently).
  • Intermittently blowing LOPT.
  • No TXT.
  • Dead. LED blinks .
  • No vertical deflection.
  • Blank raster only when tuning.
  • Dead. Line collapse first. (EUROLINE - 2896 information)
  • Line output transistor (BU2508DF) fails again after short time.
  • Dead with chopper transformer S/C.
  • No RC functions.
  • Insufficient vertical deflection. Wrapped up and mirror character.
  • PSU does not start. Pulsates. Picture too narrow, distorted and Ub too low when it does start.
  • Bars in picture.
  • Colours red and green and blanked places on the left edge are interchanged when background is light. Sometimes horizontal sync problems (depending on brightness)
  • No reception. Intermittently short reception fragments
  • Dark picture (intermittently). Audio OK .
  • No HV.
  • Field collapse. Narrow display. No sound.
  • E/W fault or no function.
  • Dead. after a while.
  • Intermittent audio. Switches off by itself.
  • Enter service mode.
  • No operation.
  • Picture 20cm only.
  • Snow in picture. Tuning OK .
  • No E/W correction.
  • Low and distorted sound. General loss of functionality (i.e. no STEREO/Mono switching).
  • Dead.
  • Line tearing. Faulty TXT.
  • Intermittently blows Q602 (BU2508AF).
  • After a couple of hours picture develops a black band on right side about 2" wide. Part of picture smeary and light - dark.
  • No picture. Excessive brightness. Flyback lines.
  • Vertical white stripe on upper picture edge. It pulsates only after switch off and on.
  • Vertical collapse.
  • Horizontal black lines on picture.
  • Reduced vertical size.
  • Poor HT regulation.
  • No TXT. after warm-up. No start-up from standby with RC.
  • Fuse is defective.
  • Picture shifted to the left. (service info for EUROLINE -2896)
  • Picture is bowed at sides.
  • Picture has trapezium distortion in the bottom third.
  • Over scanning and poor E/W correction.
  • R711 smokes after HV part has been repaired
  • Search doesn't function correctly.
  • Stuck in standby.
  • Power FET Q101 (2SK2545) blows repeatedly.
  • No HV. at start-up.
  • E/W fault. (EUROLINE - 2896 information)
  • TDA4605 doesn't function correctly.
  • No functions.
  • White line top to bottom. No picture. (service info for EUROLINE -2896)
