CT3692 / FIRSTLINE [TV 36/37 (34-36) cm picture]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for CT3692 / FIRSTLINE.
List of fault symptoms:
- Blank screen. after a while.
- No raster after power supply fault (Z 12V).
- No e.h.t. and no tube heater supply. (CT3692 tips)
- Video demodulator AFC adjustment.
- Switches off when any button is pressed.
- Takes a long time to come on and when it does the picture rolls or teletext characters appear at random.
- Narrow dull picture and line tearing with cogging effect. (FIRSTLINE - CT3692 information)
- Adjusting U1 (stabilised).
- Blank raster. intermittently.
- Raster is blank, red LED does not light up at switch on.
- Picture flashes for a few seconds at channel switch-over.
- Bright white with flyback lines. (picture attached)
- Adjusting the FM demodulator.
- Colour adjustment (black).
- No picture. No audio.
- Adjusting the audio trap.
- No TXT.
- No OSD.
- Picture reception, no sound, general commands do not function.
- Dead, brief rustle of EHT.
- Audio stages.
- Bright picture. Flyback lines. (CT3692 tip from FIRSTLINE)
- Vertical foldover at top.
- Dark picture.
- Horizontal buzz in the picture.
- Blue background.
- One channel missing, probably NICAM.
- Vertical line on LHS of screen about 3 inches in from the side. (CT3692 tips)
- 2 cm wide horizontal stripe.
- Intermittent faults ranging from text problems to going dead.
- No picture and no sound. OK with RC. (CT3692 tips)
- Insufficient width and wavy vertical elements in picture.
- F801 blown.
- Dark picture. Audio OK .
- No brightness control.
- Adjusting the G2.
- Screen width is 10cm short on each side.
- Adjusting the geometry and focus.
- No raster.
- No sound, no picture. When pushing the G2 a 5cm high white line appears. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Vertical collapse.
- Low level mono sound, NICAM OK.
- Severe picture curling (coding effect).
- Power supply.
- Vertical fault. Patterns in picture. Noise in picture.
- Vertical deflection has failed. Line width approx 1 cm.
- Picture has collapsed at the side, lines ragged in part.
- Picture too small.
- Horizontal jitter. Squealing from PSU.
- R801 (2R2/5W) O/C and TR801 (BU508A) S/C.
- White line in the middle of screen. Sound OK.
- Trips at 1HZ, chirping sound.
- Vertical approx 1in short top and bottom. Insufficient vertical size control.
- Colour decoder, chroma path.
- No voltage.
- Switches to standby. intermittently.
- Bright raster. Flyback lines.
- Insufficient width and corrugated verticals.
- Squealing from PSU. (CT3692 tips)
- At switch on black band 10 cm from the top of the screen disappearing little by little or when reducing the brightness. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Tripping.
- Intermittently no picture and one colour. (FIRSTLINE - CT3692 information)
- No channel change and no sound. Standby function does not respond.
- Reduced vertical size.
- Reduced horizontal size. Torn picture.
- Difficult start up; narrow frame; power supply is low.
- No picture. Dark screen. Sound OK.
- Picture appears late with blotches. Low horizontal size.
- Stuck in standby.
- No energy transfer to secondary side of PSU. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Various intermittent functions. (CT3692 tips)
- When changing channels, pumping or flickering of the picture for 2 or 3 seconds according to the strength of the HF signal. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Low vertical deflection (picture only approx. 3cm high). (CT3692 FIRSTLINE repair tip)
- Image has green glimmer and overdrive. (with circuit diagram extract)
- NICAM module.
- Dead. (FIRSTLINE - CT3692 information)
- No EHT or heater.
- Snow. No channels.
- No manual operation.
- Adjusting the white BRP. (CT3692 tip from FIRSTLINE)
- No functions from RC. Black screen. Starts up correctly from standby using RC.
- ACG adjustment.
- No 12V supply. (CT3692 tips)
- Multicomponent failure. TR801 S/C and R801 O/C. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Excessive line pulling and tearing or bent verticals with lack of width.
- No or low energy output. Transformer squealing and TR801 hot. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- No picture.
- Stuck in standby (intermittently).
- Uncontrollable HT. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Adjusting the colour.
- Starts up with the RCU, dark screen with two lines at the top. No function with the RCU, does not go off. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- After approx 5 mins picture disappears occasionally then reappears. Then appliance can no longer be operated by the RCU. After switching on and off, the fault repeats once more.

- Adjusting the horizontal oscillator.
- 3cm wide line in the middle, sound and picture present (CT3692 FIRSTLINE repair tip)
- No line drive.
- No EHV.
- Red fuse blown.
- No functions.
- Switches off by itself. intermittently.
- Black screen with 2 colured lines visible at the top of the screen. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- No HV.
- Does not switch to standby.

- Reduced vertical deflection.
- No picture, no sound. When unplugging and plugging back in to mains, it turns on immediately. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- No picture. via SCART. Audio OK .
- Reduced width. Ragged verticals.
- Loss of channel memory after a few days. (CT3692 tip from FIRSTLINE)
- Picture has collapsed at the sides and lines are frayed.
- Line tearing. Reduced horizontal size.
- Excessive brightness. Flyback lines.
- Dark screen.
- Switches to mono on some picture scenes or channel changes. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Distorted picture via HF, via scart perfect picture and sound.
- No picture. No sound. Red LED lights. No start-up with RC.
- No picture in AV. (CT3692 tips)
- Mono audio, red OSD, no switching to stereo with RC also noisy PLL line. (picture attached)
- Insufficient height and wavy vertical elements (or sawtooth peaks) in picture.
- Brightness control not working though the on-screen display says that it is.
- No line drive. Audio OK .
- Vertical collapse. after a few minutes.
- No vertical deflection. Black screen.
- No picture. If adjusting brightness control, screen display reacts correctly, but picture brightness does not increase at all.
- Picture only approx 2cm high. No reception
- Slow start-up.
- Permanent display on Screen. Full volume and brightness.
