CT5193 / FIRSTLINE [TV]

supplies the following faults for CT5193 / FIRSTLINE.
List of fault symptoms:
- No raster after power supply fault (Z 12V).
- Blue background.
- No OSD.
- Horizontal buzz in the picture.
- Adjusting the audio trap.
- Raster is blank, red LED does not light up at switch on.
- NICAM module.

- No picture. Dark screen. Sound OK.
- Switches off by itself. intermittently.
- No e.h.t. and no tube heater supply.
- At switch on black band 10 cm from the top of the screen disappearing little by little or when reducing the brightness. (picture attached)
- Low level mono sound, NICAM OK.
- Mono audio, red OSD, no switching to stereo with RC also noisy PLL line. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Vertical approx 1in short top and bottom. Insufficient vertical size control.
- Screen width is 10cm short on each side. (CT5193 FIRSTLINE repair tip)
- Distorted picture via HF, via scart perfect picture and sound.
- Blank raster. intermittently.
- Reduced width. Ragged verticals.

- Severe picture curling (coding effect). (CT5193 FIRSTLINE repair tip)
- No energy transfer to secondary side of PSU. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- No picture, no sound. When unplugging and plugging back in to mains, it turns on immediately. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- No start-up. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- No functions.
- No line drive. Audio OK .
- Line tearing. Reduced horizontal size.
- Permanent display on Screen. Full volume and brightness.
- Adjusting the white BRP.
- 2 cm wide horizontal stripe.
- Brightness control not working though the on-screen display says that it is.
- Picture flashes for a few seconds at channel switch-over.
- Vertical deflection has failed. Line width approx 1 cm.
- Switches to mono on some picture scenes or channel changes. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Narrow dull picture and line tearing with cogging effect.
- No picture and no sound. OK with RC.
- Picture too small.
- Switches off when any button is pressed.
- No picture. via SCART. Audio OK .
- No channel change and no sound. Standby function does not respond.
- No brightness control.
- Black screen with 2 colured lines visible at the top of the screen. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Adjusting the horizontal oscillator.
- No picture in AV.
- Dead, brief rustle of EHT.
- Adjusting U1 (stabilised).
- Video demodulator AFC adjustment. (FIRSTLINE - CT5193 information)
- No voltage.
- No EHV.
- Adjusting the FM demodulator.
- Loss of channel memory after a few days.
- Horizontal jitter. Squealing from PSU.
- Dark screen.
- No functions from RC. Black screen. Starts up correctly from standby using RC.
- Insufficient height and wavy vertical elements (or sawtooth peaks) in picture.
- No vertical deflection. Black screen.
- One channel missing, probably NICAM.
- Insufficient width and wavy vertical elements in picture.
- Snow. No channels.
- Picture reception, no sound, general commands do not function.
- Picture has collapsed at the side, lines ragged in part. (CT5193 tip from FIRSTLINE)
- Switches to standby. intermittently. (CT5193 tips)
- No manual operation.
- Adjusting the geometry and focus.
- No picture. No audio.
- Vertical foldover at top.
- Takes a long time to come on and when it does the picture rolls or teletext characters appear at random. (FIRSTLINE - CT5193 information)
- Adjusting the colour.
- Multicomponent failure. TR801 S/C and R801 O/C. (picture attached)
- Does not switch to standby.
- After approx 5 mins picture disappears occasionally then reappears. Then appliance can no longer be operated by the RCU. After switching on and off, the fault repeats once more.
- No picture. If adjusting brightness control, screen display reacts correctly, but picture brightness does not increase at all.
- No line drive.
- Excessive brightness. Flyback lines.
- Vertical fault. Patterns in picture. Noise in picture.
- Picture only approx 2cm high. No reception
- Power supply.
- Vertical collapse. after a few minutes.
- No TXT.
- Intermittently no picture and one colour.
- Picture appears late with blotches. Low horizontal size.
- Bright picture. Flyback lines.
- Stuck in standby. (CT5193 tips)

- When changing channels, pumping or flickering of the picture for 2 or 3 seconds according to the strength of the HF signal. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Squealing from PSU.
- Blank screen. after a while.
- No 12V supply.
- Dark picture. Audio OK .
- No EHT or heater.
- No or low energy output. Transformer squealing and TR801 hot. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Uncontrollable HT. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Audio stages.
- Adjusting the G2.
- Red fuse blown.
- Muted audio. (picture attached)
- Insufficient width and corrugated verticals. (CT5193 FIRSTLINE repair tip)
- Vertical line on LHS of screen about 3 inches in from the side.
- No sound mute and impossible to adjust the sound to min.
- Dead.
- No raster.
- Trips at 1HZ, chirping sound. (CT5193 tips)
- Excessive line pulling and tearing or bent verticals with lack of width.
- No picture. No sound. Red LED lights. No start-up with RC.
- Colour adjustment (black).
- White line in the middle of screen. Sound OK.
- Reduced horizontal size. Torn picture.
- Tripping.
- Various intermittent functions.
- R801 (2R2/5W) O/C and TR801 (BU508A) S/C.
- Starts up with the RCU, dark screen with two lines at the top. No function with the RCU, does not go off. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- No picture.
- 3cm wide line in the middle, sound and picture present
- Vertical collapse.
- Colour decoder, chroma path.
- Intermittent faults ranging from text problems to going dead.
- Low vertical deflection (picture only approx. 3cm high).
- No sound, no picture. When pushing the G2 a 5cm high white line appears. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- No HV.
- ACG adjustment.
- Difficult start up; narrow frame; power supply is low.
- Reduced vertical deflection.
- Slow start-up.
- Picture has collapsed at the sides and lines are frayed.
- Reduced vertical size.

- F801 blown.
- Stuck in standby (intermittently).
