DTV1 / FIRSTLINE [TV (chassis)]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for DTV1 / FIRSTLINE.
List of fault symptoms:
- Picture is noisy and occasionally too small.
- Linearity distorted on top.
- Vertical interference lines on the left side of the picture.
- Spare part info: type of power supply transistor.
- Power supply voltages are too low and only increase slightly if the "ON" switch on the control panel is held in.
- Chirping. Picture at max. brightness. High voltage crackling near the deflection unit. (service info for FIRSTLINE -DTV1)
- Shuts down (intermittently). (service info for FIRSTLINE -DTV1)
- Backing up in SERVICE mode.
- Top quarter of picture is dark and pulled, if appliance is cold.
- No raster. Sound and line transformer present.
- Black screen. No audio. OSD OK .
- Stuck in standby.
- Line BU (BU508A) S/C.
- Line output stage transistor fails again after a short time.
- Line output transistor fails repeatedly.
- Line BU508 blows after a few minutes or after 2 or 3 hours operating.
- Red striations on the picture.
- Station storage (special channels) on some channel sites are suddenly no longer possible. After pressing Memory, station drifts.
- IC1 (TEA2164) is defective.
- Horizontal size adjustment.
- Dead.
- No tuning.
- Horizontal foldover.
- Reduced horizontal deflection.
- No functions.
- No LED at start up. Low voltages.
- Line is folded over, it is set to the wrong standard. Does not synchronise.
- TXT and OSD displaced to the left or right.
- How to access control SERVICE mode to correct height and East/West.
- Vertical line. at top.
- Operating voltage adjustment.
- Does not start, standby ok. If you hold in place the On switch high voltage occurs and appliance hisses, after you release the switch, goes immediately to standby again.
- Occasionally picture reappears after switching off with the RCU.
- No channels over 48. Stations cannot be stored. Some stations in memory are ok. (DTV1 tip from FIRSTLINE)
- Picture cuts out after a few mins. Sound and channel change ok. Difficulties at start up if TV is switched off.
- CCU snow.
- Pin cushion.
- Top half of the picture is ok, but the bottom half is bent with a white line in the centre.
- After approx 3 hours, goes into standby. Then can be started and continues running.
- Some (high) channels can't be adjusted.
- No video and audio IF.
- T2 in the vertical stage comes flying out after approx 30 mins. IC1 and C5 already replaced in this stage.
- Blank raster and controls do not work.
- Green LED flickers in front panel, no EHT. (DTV1 tip from FIRSTLINE)
- No sound at RF reception (Multi-IF). Mostly knock sensitive.
- Picture shifted vertically. at top.
- Stuck in standby. Short rustle of EHT at power on.
- Poor operation of the raster time base.
- When switching on, short attempt to start up. Standby LED lights up.
- In HF reception sound is defective. AV ok.
- Excessive horizontal size. (FIRSTLINE - DTV1 information)
- No picture, T2 (BD683) gets hot. At switch on the picture up to T2 gets so hot that the 17.5V fails. Picture has then disappeared and the voltage dropped to 3V. (DTV1 tips)
- A colour is missing or strong striations and flags.
- No tuner reception after repairing power supply. Ok in scart. Tuner voltage ok.
- E/W fault.
- Flyback lines. at top.
- Poor synchronisation. Lines in picture (when cold).
- Switches off by itself.
- Brightness and contrast adjustment.
- One colour missing.
- Line tearing similar to "mouse teeth" on the picture.
- T1 (BU 903) in the primary power supply fails repeatedly in different circumstances.
- Line BU blows after 3 hours. (DTV1 FIRSTLINE repair tip)
- Slight flyback lines in the top part of the picture. (service info for FIRSTLINE -DTV1)
- Line BU destroyed when hot. (DTV1 FIRSTLINE repair tip)
- White screen. Flyback lines. (DTV1 FIRSTLINE repair tip)
- EHT does not start up.
- Fine red bar at bottom of screen. It appears on side of screen when power supply pot. is used.
- Important problem in PSU.
- No picture. No sound. The PSU oscillates. No CRT heating.
- The voltage in the vertical stage is too high (instead of 17.3V it is over 40V). It is already measurable at diode D11 (BY299). The appliance runs occasionally if you start it up for a longer time (10 mins).
- BU508A constantly becomes defective, picture shifted to the right.
- PSU pulsates in 50Hz cycle.
- When switching on the picture is dark then you can see a white horizontal line in the top half of the screen.
- No standby and start up indication. (DTV1 tip from FIRSTLINE)
- Snow. Picture appears after 1 min.
- Reduced vertical size.
- Reduced horizontal size.
- S/C on the mains side.
- After pressing the mains switch and finally switching on with the remote control or the button on the appliance, sometimes there is no picture and no sound. You can hear the horizontal output stage functioning.
- Functions OK for a few days then picture becomes negative. (FIRSTLINE - DTV1 information)
- One of the basic 3 colours is missing.
- Inverted trapezium distortion, flickering in upper half of picture.
- The PSU will not oscillate.
- No or weak red, green or blue.
- Picture and sound OK but strong predominant green.
- Store analog values (contrast, brightness) as standard/PP values.
- Enter service mode.
- BU508A always fails.
- Screen has unstable coloured bars. Picture is perfect via scart. (FIRSTLINE - DTV1 information)
- Line output stage does not oscillate correctly.
- No picture content with a max adjusted G2 regulator.
- After operating for 3 hours renewed failure of the line BU.
- Power supply pulsates. Very low secondary voltages.
- BU508A defective.
- Linearity at top edge of picture cannot be adjusted ie pic. is tightly compressed at the top.
- PSU fails every few days. IC201, R216 and T201 are then defective.
- End stageTRS T2 drop-out in vertical deflection.
- Slight E/W fault, appliance switches off after a short time. Then loud chirping in Stand-by mode. (service info for FIRSTLINE -DTV1)
- Screen is red and has no picture content. On screen function is not visible.
- Picture varies in brightness and is very dark. Picture gets lighter if contrast turned down.
- Horizontal centering adjustment with teletext.
- No start-up.
- Vertically reduced picture.
- Attempts to start via RC but switches off. Standby OK. (DTV1 tips)
- Black adjustment.
- Wavy lines when connecting to a muli-user aerial in a block of flats. Channels which lie close together distort the reception in BIII.
- No mono sound is present, stereo sound is slightly distorted.
- Bright picture. Flyback lines. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Memory command is acknowledged but not carried out. Transmitter symbol can be written but not stored.
- PSU does not start. No starting attempt.
- PSU doesn't oscillate.
- E/W Pin cushion too large and E/W pin cushion too small adjustment.
- The picture changes occasionally (varies).
- 9cm horizontal picture shift on right side. Picture ok in reception via scart.
- Doesn't store or stores only after several attempts.
- IC1 blows.
- Horizontal band in picture, sound OK.
- Value of T15?
- Vertical amplitude, coarse, vertical amplitude, fine adjustment.
- Colour missing (for ex. red).
- Switches off by itself (after a while).
- BU508A in the horizontal output stage was defective. After replacing, ticking from loudspeaker, appliance does not start up.
- Fails. Knock sensitive.
- No sound at RF (Multi-IF).
- Picture centering adjustment.
- Remains in standby, starts up only for a fraction of a sec then goes into standby again.
- Appliance does not switch on. Standby is on. When attempting to switch on there is a short build up of high voltage.
- Grey picture with flyback lines. (service info for FIRSTLINE -DTV1)
- No sound with mono transmissions. (DTV1 tip from FIRSTLINE)
- Factory setting for tube A 63 NCQ 00X 08
- Linearity fault at the top of the picture.
- Vertical lines.
- Horizontal stripes in the top third of the picture. The upper linearity is limited.
- No start up, line BU ok. No standby light on, TEA2164 changed, fuse ok, power supply pin 2 TEA2164 ok. (DTV1 FIRSTLINE repair tip)
- Occasionally goes to standby. Then can be switched on again. (service info for FIRSTLINE -DTV1)
- Moves from channel over channel 42. Storing channels below channel 42 OK. No storing of channels over channel 42. (DTV1 tip from FIRSTLINE)
- No channel storing.
- No blue.
- Line tearing in dark sections of picture, mostly at VCR PB.
- Slight, distorted horizontal stripe on the picture. Line pairing visible. Hum runs through from top to bottom.
- E/W fault. Picture collapses.
- Lines have shifted by approx 2mm each line.
- No vertical deflection (intermittently).
- Line transformer whistles after 15-20 mins and a short time afterwards BU fails.
- No CRT heating.
- White adjustment.
- Low audio. OK via SCART .
- Linearity adjustment.
- Horizontal centre adjustment.
- Picture is drawn in on bottom.
- Squealing noise. Full brightness on the picture.
- Picture has a green flyback line.
- No function via the RC. Operation on appliance is ok. (DTV1 tip from FIRSTLINE)
- Switches off by itself. after a few seconds.
- Yellow screen with flyback lines. Hardly visible picture. Sound OK on all channels.
- No picture. No audio. (DTV1 tip from FIRSTLINE)
- Vertical centre adjustment.
- No vertical deflection.
- No mono. Stereo OK.
- Test mode.
- TEA2164 is burnt. (DTV1 FIRSTLINE repair tip)
- After switching on mains, appliance only ticks. (LOPT)
- Chirping when picture is bright.
- Focus adjustment.
- Ref of T1, value of R5 and R6?
- Occasionally picture reappears after switching off with the RCU.
- Picture is very distorted, horizontal deflection fault; line output stage oscillates incorrectly; appliance whistles and after approx 1 min switches to stand by.
- Slightly compressed picture on right.
- Colour adjustment.
- Picture is displaced to the bottom of the screen. Fault recedes when appliance warms up.
- No reception in upper channel range. Analog values and programs can not be stored.
- No sound after inserting the station table, sound only reoccurs with stereo transmissions after blanking. With mono by switching over channels.
- Ticking at switch on and the green LED may flicker.
- Picture is like a negative when the contrast button is pushed.
- Picture too small.
- No picture. Audio OK .
- On standby the PSU runs but after turning the set on, it only starts up for a moment and returns to standby.
- At start up, blows suddenly then stops.
