2114 / GEC [TV]

The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers supplies the following faults for 2114 / GEC.

List of fault symptoms:

  • Intermittent standby.

  • Loss of previously stored data. Display with strange symbols. Switches to standby intermittently. Unable to select TXT.
  • Sometimes comes on, trips off and goes totally dead.
  • Red and green dots in picture.
  • Blank raster, sound ok.
  • Dead.
  • Striations on left hand side.
  • Squealing from PSU. Trips.
  • Dead, 6.6 in display.
  • No picture or intermiitent loss of picture.

  • Bad patterning. Field cramp and foldover in middle of picture.
  • Sometimes set does not come on when asked. No output from the power supply.
  • Intermittent or poor starting.
  • Poor at start up.
  • Intermittently dead.
  • No picture.

  • TV channel cannot be changed when the teletext button was pressed.

  • No line drive.

  • Excessive HT at 172.5V.
  • Dead. Whistles for 2 secs at switch on.
  • No start-up. Burning smell.
  • Dead. after a few minutes.
  • Q801 and R816 (4R7) destroyed.
  • Slow start-up.
  • Dead. Chopper transformer whistles.
  • No picture for first 15 - 30mins. Sound OK.
  • Slow start-up. OK after a while .
  • Noisy power supply.
  • Vertical black line on either side of screen.
  • No picture. No audio.
  • Slow start-up. intermittently.
  • No picture, raster only covers bottom 2/3 of screen plus whining.
  • Comes on in standby and when switched on relay operates and power supply trips to zero volts.
  • Patterns in picture.
  • Picture takes a long time to appear.
  • Auto grey scale input pulling low.
  • Black lines appears on picture.
  • Appliance cannot be switched to stand-by.
  • Dead. Whistling. Relay chatters. (GEC - 2114 information)
  • Striations and reduced width.
  • No picture. Vertical collapse. intermittently.
  • Bright white screen or jet black screen.
  • Vertical black bars.
  • Shuts down. after a few minutes.
  • Line output transistor is s/c.
  • Shuts down. after a while.
  • 4 black bands across screen.
  • Text not displayed though in TXT mode.
  • Blank raster.
  • Vertical black line two inches from right hand side of screen .
  • No functions. Whistling.
  • Tripping. Squealing noise.
  • No picture. Audio OK .
  • No picture or sound, high pitched whistling.
  • Set jumps into and out of standby when a channel change or adjustment is being made. (service info for GEC -2114)
  • Abnormal and inaccurate response to push button controls.
  • Bright raster. Audio OK .
  • Sticks on one channel. Appliance will not perform any other functions.
  • Blank raster, sound ok.
  • There was no picture or sound and the standby colons faded a few seconds after switching on.
  • Width is reduced with striations on right hand side.
