C1405H / GEC [TV]

List of fault symptoms:
  • Odd characters or dots in the display window.

  • No raster.
  • Bends at top of screen on VCR PB.
  • Height reduced to 2ins.
  • No RC operation intermittently.
  • Set tripping when switched on, odd occasion would work ok.
  • Intermittently blue raster.
  • No frame scan.
  • Appliance is dead with number 1 and the standby LED's alight in the display. If the up or down button is pressed the number changes, but the standby LED's remains alight.
  • Dead. Whines.
  • Top of picture has bright thin vertical line.
  • Snowy raster. No channel display or no tuning. (C1405H tips)
  • No picture, no audio. Channel indicators lit.
  • Reduced vertical size.
  • Appliance is dead, build up of EHT then trips. Display ok.
  • Goes dead after a split second.
  • Intermittent frame bounce.
  • Snow. No signals.
  • No LEDs lit unless switched on at set switch, and mains plug inserted; then "--" is displayed and set is stuck in standby.
  • No synchronisation.
  • Field fault and not storing channels in memory.
  • Intermittently low brightness or excessive red.
  • Dead. Display shows 1.
  • Tuning up and down button actuates the wrong functions.
  • Appliance trips after coming on.
  • Intermittent rolling.
  • HT present but high.
  • Blank raster, sound ok.
  • Rolling and picture foldover.
  • Intermittently dead.
  • Dead. Channel display shows --1. (C1405H tip from GEC)
  • Frame bounce or frame jumping effect.
  • Line jitter.
  • Stuck in standby but channel O.K

  • Holes and gaps in picture with blue screen.
  • Intermittent standby and intermittently channel numbers change.

  • Top of picture blanks. Picture floods blue. one or both faults may depend on beam current.
  • Top half of picture black.
  • Intermittently thick structure of horizontal lines. I.e., one line out of every two contains no video signal info.

  • Intermittently goes into standby. Incorrect operation of Ch+/Ch- buttons on TV.

  • Excessive blue in picture.
  • Line and field synchronisation are missing.
  • Appliance is dead but standby LED is lit.
  • Inconsistant bright blue raster intermittently. (C1405H tip from GEC)
  • No audio. No picture.
  • Dead. Trips once at switch on.
  • No colour.
  • Pulses intermittently. (GEC - C1405H information)
  • Low remote range.
  • Blurry picture.
  • No field scan. No sound, no picture.
  • Comes on then trips.
  • Non-linear scan. (C1405H tips)
  • Picture flashes with lines on screen.
  • Set comes on with standby - - signs and channel 1 but no other signs of life. (GEC - C1405H information)
  • Fine bright vertical line at top of picture.
  • No picture. Sound OK.
  • Starts up then goes dead.
  • Blank raster and video is missing.
  • Switches to standby after 5 minutes; tuning up/down buttons actuate incorrect functions; does not tune; odd dots or characters in display window; no teletext operation.
  • Dead. Shows "1" in display.
  • Fine bright vertical lines.
  • Picture appears to have holes/blank gaps and screen turns blue.
  • Frame bounce or frame jumping effect.
