C2151 / GEC [TV]

The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers supplies the following faults for C2151 / GEC.

List of fault symptoms:
  • Stuck in standby. RC OK.
  • Trips.
  • Inadequate width.
  • Poor audio.
  • Brightness and colour varies.
  • Intermittently width varies.
  • Blows BU508 line o/p, TDA3651 and R411.
  • Appliance trips quickly then goes dead.

  • Intermittent loss of signals.
  • Bottom linearity is defective when cold. It corrects itself when it warms up.
  • Picture rolls when hot. (C2151 tips)
  • Appliance remains in standby, comes on when using RCU but not with on/off switch.
  • Raster is too bright with flyback lines. (C2151 tips)
  • Ticking noise from line output stage.
  • There were teletext lines over the top half of the screen. (C2151 GEC repair tip)
  • Intermittently dead. (GEC - C2151 information)
  • Weak picture. Low contrast.
  • No line drive. (C2151 tip from GEC)
  • TXT lines across top of picture.
  • White raster. No sound.
  • Intermittent audio and picture.
  • The fuse just blows.
  • Picture is weak, contrast low.
  • Deflection collapses.
  • Field roll and loss of colour when volume increased.
  • Poor field sync when warm.

  • Picture faults when linked through VCR.

  • TXT lines over the top half of the screen (slow field flyback).
  • Field roll (which may or maybe not intermittent) and loss of colour when the sound level is increased.

  • Bright white screen, video is missing.
  • Grey scale variations.
  • Brightness varies.
  • No sync with muted sound.
  • Picture foldover.
  • Dark band 2 or 3cm high through centre of screen.
  • Field synchronisation is missing.
  • No colour and bright picture when appliance is started from cold.
  • Screen does not light up. When switching off and on again, momentary black and white picture.
  • 117V line goes high, e.g. 150V.
  • Striations down the left hand side of the screen.
  • Picture is normal after slight drift.
  • No picture.
  • Black and white lines across picture.
  • Chopper failure.
  • Protection is triggered.
  • Top foldover.
  • Intermittent failure of 1 of the 3 primary colours. (service info for GEC -C2151)
  • Noise from loudspeaker during standby.
  • Tuning drifts.
  • Vertical foldover at top.
  • Tripping.
  • Field collapse, blank picture.
  • Dead.
  • Shuts down (intermittently).
  • Crackling audio when adjusting voltage controlled oscillator.
  • No audio.
  • Picture has black and white lines across, signals are missing.
  • Ghosting effect. Aerial OK.
  • Vertical roll. (C2151 tip from GEC)
  • Intermittent failure of Q801/R4051.
  • Line output transistor S/C.
  • Slight ghosting.
  • No station tuning.
  • Fuse blows occasionally.
  • No sound or vision, no output from 12V regulator.
  • Vertical collapse (intermittently).
  • Mains hum, sound buzzes and picture distorted.
  • Random fuse blowing.
  • Line output stage ticks.
  • Excessive vertical size.
  • Set will not start, the power supply is ok, but there is no line drive.
  • No sync, no sound.
