C2288H / GEC [TV]

supplies the following faults for C2288H / GEC.
List of fault symptoms:
- Shuts down (intermittently).
- No colour and bright picture when appliance is started from cold.
- No line drive.
- Crackling audio when adjusting voltage controlled oscillator.
- Intermittent audio and picture.
- Blows BU508 line o/p, TDA3651 and R411.

- Field roll when hot.
- Protection is triggered.
- Cone shaped raster.

- Inadequate width.
- Chopper failure.
- No sync with muted sound.
- No audio.
- Field collapse, blank picture.

- No line sync when warm.
- No colour (intermittently).
- Intermittent failure of Q801/R4051.
- Goes dead when warm. (service info for GEC -C2288H)
- No sound or vision, no output from 12V regulator.
- Mains hum, sound buzzes and picture distorted.
- Raster is too bright with flyback lines.
- Vertical foldover at top.
- When sound is muted synchronisation is lost.
- Ghosting effect. Aerial OK.
- Deflection collapses. (C2288H tips)
- Dead. In standby. On/off switch inoperative. Comes on using RC.
- Mains hum. Distorted picture and hum on sound.
- Dead with PSU ticking.
- Bright raster.
- Bottom linearity is defective when cold. It corrects itself when it warms up.
- Set will not start, the power supply is ok, but there is no line drive.
- Screen does not light up. When switching off and on again, momentary black and white picture.
- Vertical collapse (intermittently).
- Weak picture. Low contrast.
- Bright white screen, video is missing.
- TXT lines over the top half of the screen (slow field flyback).
- Noise from loudspeaker during standby.

- Picture is normal after slight drift.
- Poor audio.
- Top foldover.

- Line collapse and smoke.
- No sync, no sound. (C2288H tips)
- Brightness and colour varies.
- Field synchronisation is missing.
- Field roll and loss of colour when volume increased.
- Line output stage ticks.
- Random fuse blowing.
- When sound is adjusted the colour adjusts as well.
- Picture foldover.
- Tripping.
- Field roll (which may or maybe not intermittent) and loss of colour when the sound level is increased. (C2288H tip from GEC)
- Appliance trips quickly then goes dead.
- Poor field sync when warm.
- Blank screen with flyback lines. Sound ok. (C2288H tip from GEC)
- Intermittently width varies. (C2288H tip from GEC)
- White raster. No sound.
- Brightness varies.
- Unable to tune stations.
- No picture.
- Picture is weak, contrast low.
- Picture has black and white lines across, signals are missing.
- Goes dead after a few mins.
- Grey scale variations.
- TXT lines across top of picture.
- 117V line goes high, e.g. 150V.
- Intermittently dead.
- Intermittent loss of signals.
- Tuning drifts. (GEC - C2288H information)
- Fuse blows occasionally.
- Vertical roll. (C2288H GEC repair tip)
- The fuse just blows.
- Appliance remains in standby, comes on when using RCU but not with on/off switch. (C2288H tip from GEC)
- Striations down the left hand side of the screen.
- Dead.
- Tuning drift, high channels especially.
- Line output transistor S/C.
- Black and white lines across picture.
- Slight ghosting.
- Dark band 2 or 3cm high through centre of screen.
- Loss of signals.
- No station tuning.
- There were teletext lines over the top half of the screen.
- Picture faults when linked through VCR.
- No sync, no sound.
- Stuck in standby. RC OK.
- Intermittent failure of 1 of the 3 primary colours.
- Weak and snowy picture.
With help of this list a solution is found often when GEC C2288H fails.
