C2289H / GEC [TV]

  • Intermittent loss of station. Picture returns if channel button pushed.
  • Video crushing.
  • Dead. "1" in display.
  • Lack of brightness.
  • Bright on left hand side of screen.
  • Picture over bright on the left hand side, getting darker towards the right hand side of screen.
  • Set trips after approx. ten seconds.
  • Frame foldover excessive height.
  • Teletext lines covering the top one third of screen.
  • Intermittent field jitter, or tiny height variations.
  • No raster, sound ok.
  • Continues to run when standby is selected.
  • Incorrect display and functions.
  • No picture. No audio. via AV.
  • Low colour, contrast and brightness. Controls have no effect.
  • Insufficient line and field synchronization.
  • Appliance continues to operate in standby.
  • When switching to standby appliance remains on.
  • Blank raster.
  • Frame rolling.
  • No picture.
  • No raster.
  • Intermittent standby.
  • Intermittent picture increases in size with varying brightness then goes by itself into standby.
  • Excessively bright with flyback lines. (C2289H tips)
  • Dead. Stuck in standby.
  • Remote control affects VT7 and other makes of video.
  • Picture pulling on dark scenes with a light background like sky.
  • Excessive brightness occurred very intermittently.
  • Intermittent picture increases in size with the brightness varying then turning itself into standby.
  • Stuck on stand-by.
  • No TXT.
  • Top frame cramp or gross non linearity in the middle of part of the raster.
  • Set continuies to operate in the standby mode.
  • No channel change, blank raster.
  • Bright high-contrast picture and loud sound, with the brightness, volume, contrast and colour controls inoperative. (C2289H tips)
  • Appliance looks dead but channel LED lit.
  • Set comes on in video mode. Intermittently selects off-air and tunes slowly, but no stations selected.
  • Blank raster and no channel change.
  • Picture goes dark.
  • Field jitter intermittently.
  • No functions.
  • Line output transistor goes S/C (every 2 days after 10 mins).
  • Low contrast, brightness and colour. Controls have no effect.
  • Loss of picture after 10 mins.
  • Picture comes on orange on one side of the screen, then the whole of the screen. The orange goes and you just make out picture in the background, then lines come on the picture.
  • Intermittently going to standby.
  • Intermittent loss of station. If you push channel button picture comes back.
  • Intermittently picture bounces.
  • No vision.
  • Search tuning does not lock and sound is muted. (service info for GEC -C2289H)
  • Poor synchronisation and no tuning lock.
  • Inadequate field sync and line pulling.
  • Red raster and white horizontal lines on TXT.
  • No picture. Audio OK.
  • Barely visible raster with no signal content.
  • Screen is blank on left hand side, teletext is ok.
  • Field bounce. Intermittently top inch of picture disappears.
  • Set in permanent standby.
  • Trips intermittently.
  • Dead. Standby light is on.
  • Sound, brightness, colour and contrast controls not functioning. Excessive sound.
  • Very weak field sync with severe line pulling at the top of picture, also effecting audio level.
  • Raster blanked out. No drive to rgb driver transistors from IC501.
  • Dull raster. (service info for GEC -C2289H)
  • No picture. in the centre.
  • Strange picture with no colour. The verticals are bent and smeared. (GEC - C2289H information)
  • Picture composed of large white dots.
  • Too much colour on left hand side with flyback lines.
  • Intermittent field jitter and small variation in height.
  • In trip.
  • Small picture in stand-by.
  • Frame foldover and rolling. May start with excessive height.
  • Weak contrast, no colour. Sound OK; controls have no effect.
  • Poor synchronisation, no tuning lock.
  • No audio. No picture.
  • Left hand side of raster bright.
  • Trips into standby.
  • Appliance works at switch on for ten seconds to ten minutes, then the seven segment display goes out, the picture and sound disappear and the three LED's on the front light up.
  • Set dead with the standby indicator on and the main board fuse blackened.
  • Field size varies or field collapse.
  • Text drop out.
  • Vertical collapse (intermittently).
  • No results and a check on the 111V line showed that it was at 20V via the start up diode D908.
