CTV2024AV / ICS [TV < 27cm picture (<23)]

  • Intermittently goes bright white/red/yellow and off.

  • Line driver transistor TL17 fails as soon as line output stage gets going.
  • Ringing on verticals.

  • Inadequate contrast.
  • Frame foldover or teletext lines on top part of picture.
  • Horizontal output transistor fails constantly.
  • No memorisation or tuning possible.
  • Chroma band pass coil adjustment.

  • Grey raster.
  • Field foldover or collapse then line output transistor blown.
  • Top foldover
  • Field jitter from cold.
  • Sound distortion after the set had been on a few minutes.
  • Low gain.
  • Channel changes intermittently of its own accord, in extreme cases can switch to standby or the volume change.
  • After approximately ten minutes the sound and vision disappear.
  • Blows chopper transistor BU426A.

  • Extremely low contrast, picture hardly visible.

  • Pulsing/rolling on high brightness.

  • No field hold.

  • Set suffered from field jitter. It would sometimes start at switch on and continue until the set was switched off. At other times the display would be ok for about an hour, then the fault would appear.
  • Intermittent manual programme change.
  • RCU or channel change do not function.
  • Insufficient picture width and CRT is weak. When adjusting brightness or contrast, station tuning is lost.
  • Full brightness with flyback lines.
  • Green cast on screen.
  • Ringing on verticals.

  • Picture is intermittent.
  • No HV.
  • Tripping.

  • Frame jittering.
  • Vertical roll.

  • TR4 (line driver) short circuit and R98 (16V feed resistor) open circuit.
  • Picture has wavy out lines.
  • Insufficient height or height changes.
  • No line osc.
  • The power supply was tripping.

  • EHT is excessive, BU298D is destroyed.
  • The appliance is dead (tripping).
  • Raster is blank, flyback lines present.
  • No line drive.
  • Red, green or blue luminance signal is missing.
  • Picture is green and/or pink.
  • Dead or intermittently dead.
  • Reduced vertical size.
  • Distorted sound on both channels.
  • Dead. Crackling from line output transformer.
  • No tuning, 33V tuning supply correct.
  • Green screen at switch on, cannot set grey scale. Green drive preset produces incorrect drive on CRT.
  • Station tuning is lost when adjusting brightness or contrast. Insufficient picture width and CRT is weak.
  • No output from power supply.
  • Tripping (when changing channels).
  • Slow to power up. PSU pulses.
  • 4 horizontal lines across picture which get worse with increase in colour, contrast and brightness.
  • BU208 s/c.
  • Low contrast.
  • Appliance is dead or intermittent.
  • Drift in grey scale.
  • Blow mains fuse.
  • Stretched picture. (CTV2024AV tips)
  • Cogging, serrated verticals.
