25D81 / INTERFUNK [TV]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for 25D81 / INTERFUNK.
List of fault symptoms:
- One side of picture is black.
- Cuts out after switch on, soft hum from the speakers in standby mode.
- No horizontal synchronisation. (picture attached)
- Black bar on the right side of the screen. Similar to displacement. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- PSU fails intermittently. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- No picture. on lower half screen. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Rattling noise or bubbling at start-up (when cold). (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Impossible to adjust the horizontal synchronization. Picture has shifted 10cm to the left. TDA 8372A on pin 20 has already been replaced, sandcastle incorrect. Power supply is good. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Line BU is abnormally hot.
- Picture with vertical and horizontal lines (when cold).
- Unclear picture with Hum content.
- Dead.
- PSU cannot be started from Stand By. 145V voltage in an unloaded condition is at approx 105V, the connected lamp does not light up, the voltage then collapses to approx 20V. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Excessive vertical size. Vertical foldover at bottom.
- Control unit does not function. Does not switch on. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Does not start up each time. When it functions, whistling and modulation of picture. This gets less in time.

- When appliance receives in Nicam stereo, the TV goes into PAL.
- Brightness differs between left and right hand side of the screen.
- Blocked control processor.
- Vertical lines. No colour. after a while.

- No tuning.
- White horizontal stripe about 5 cm from the bottom. Picture content bellow stripe is altered and noisy.
- Does not switch ON. No power light showing.

- Text selection is not possible, takes only Mix or full text but not both. Also various other functions are defective.
- Very pale picture which is shifted to the left. Voltage is correct. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Reduced raster size. (picture attached)
- Blanking interval on left side of picture, colour flickers and screen dark after a while.
- Intermittent no image or yellow colouring. Knock sensitive. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Slow start-up. when cold. (with circuit diagram extract)
- HT starts up, appliance switches off immediately. Power supply with lamp OK but documentation states voltage must be 60-100V when pin 4 of line transformer disconnected and lamp connected to D765 60-100V. Voltage in this case is 145V.
- After approx 20 mins colour TV switches off. Horizontal drive fails. U1 for the line end stage is still present. Horizontal driver is ok.
- At switch ON, set screams. Pressing on the on/off switch gives same condition. Standby LED's off.
- Vertical curtain-like stripes which may be distributed over the entire screen. (picture attached)

- Dark screen. on the right. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Line transistor S2000AF defective at switch on from cold. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Picture rolls. when cold. (with circuit diagram extract)
- No picture content. Picture is greyish. (picture attached)
- Picture shifted to the left, too small and not adjustable. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Picture has moved approx 10cm to the left. Vertical black bar with a few coloured streaks. Colour OK. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- At switch on, lights light up for an instant, voltage which ought to reach 145V increases to 60V but then goes back to 0V. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Brightness varies. E/W fault. intermittently.
- Picture only appears about 3 mins after switch on, when appliance is cold.

- PSU chirps, at the same time bubbling and hum in loudspeakers. No functions. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Horizontal synchronisation fault even after replacing TDA8372. Weak adjustment with pot R634. Line synchronisation OK. Comparator OK. Horizontal linearity is OK. (with circuit diagram extract)

- Black vertical bars on picture, mostly visible in AV with no video source. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Occasionally blue screen. Picture ok when G2 adjusted then disappears again. When pressed too much picture remains incorrect then disappears.
- Pincushion distortion.

- Goes into PAL reception when in NICAM reception on channel 64, programme N1.

- Dark picture on 2/3 of screen on the left but brighter on 1/3 of screen on the right. (with circuit diagram extract)

- Random operation commands.
- Poor vertical linearity at the bottom, also E/W error.
- Coloured lines (RGB test lines) in top of picture.
- Loud noise. at start-up.
- Intermittently line tearing in the middle (approx. 20cm wide). (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Does not switch on. Fluttering noise from the loudspeakers. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Does not go into text mode, mix mode is not possible.
- Vertical collapse. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- No functions. after a while.
- Picture is too wide. E/W distorted.
- Excessive HV. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Whistling HT. No start up due to incorrect HT frequency. May blow S2000 immediately. (picture attached)
- Line BU voltage = 140V. Value of capacitor C701 (in PSU) illegible. Still no display if line BU disconnected. (+ extract of circuit diagram) (25D81 tips)
- In a grey area - independent of colour saturation - you can see 2 vertical zones approx 15cm wide, greeny blue in colour with coloured edges.
- Horizontal collapse. after a while. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Picture amplitude is too weak.
- Picture shifted to the left. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Picture and sound missing. Via scart socket with video recorder OK (picture attached)
- NICAM check.
- Output transistor (S2000) fails when started from cold.
- Vertical hum bars on picture, sometimes very visible and sometimes hardly at all.
- From a cold start line output stage transistor fails.
- At switch on appliance pulsated then reverts to standby again.
- Intermittently line transistor defective at start up. Fault also occurs intermittently in channel search or when switching to another channel. Once appliance runs, it runs well.
- Sound cracks. Switches off. Display stays. Can be restarted with RC. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Picture goes off after 1 minute; very low contrast, ok through scart. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Defective linearity.
- Switches off when selecting a function via RC.
- Secondary voltages appear for 1 to 2 secs. then nothing else. Standby LED switches off.
- Unstable horizontal picture.
- Approx 20cm wide dark area in centre of picture and line tearing.
- 88 shown on LED display.
- No start up after changing IC601. Nothing lights up on the front.
- Centre of snowy picture is darker than edges. (picture attached)
- Excessive brightness. in the centre. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Afterglow on deflection tube after switch off.
- Unusual TXT. (25D81 tip from INTERFUNK)
- Horizontal jitter. Vertical jitter. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Bright raster. Flyback lines.
- Vertical line tearing. intermittently.
- Does not fully go to TXT or only blue mix TXT. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Picture is brighter on the right. Poor synchronisation after program switch-over. Picture becomes brighter and darker in AV. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- T501 fails repeatedly.
- Slightly wavy picture in the middle of the screen. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- PSU pulsates. Sound crackles. After few secs. appliance works fine.
- Grey picture at switch on and sound which disappears after 15 mins. Grey screen with frizzy line on the sides when pressing G2.
- Only standby LED lit. LED switches off at switch on then no function.
- Standby display lights up briefly, then no function.
- No control and cannot be switched off when started up from standby.
- Intermittently dead. (picture attached)
- FBT blows after a few mins. (with circuit diagram extract)
- No start-up from standby. (25D81 tips)
- Line transformer starts up with an amplitude of 400V blemished by many interference lines.
- Eliminate safety mode of PSU.
- HV appears briefly and then disappears. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Focus problem. Blurred vertically, ok horizontally after replacing microprocessor and line transformer.
- PSU switches from standby to safety mode at switch on.
- Poor shading of picture, dark on one side and light on the other. (picture attached)
- Intermittent block.
- Only blue light at right in picture.
- Resistor R515 becomes defective. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- No raster sync in HF. Ok in scart. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Horizontal picture position is incorrect, 5cm to the left. No picture intermittently. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- No E/W correction. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Picture collapse on half of the picture.
- Starts with noise (approx. 2-3 seconds), then it operates normally. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Resistor R775 is defective.
- Can be switched to standby only if power plug is pulled out.
- No colour.
- Front LED briefly lights up at switch on then it switches off. LED remains lit when mains plug is connected and disconnected but it definitely switches off at start up.
- Picture with a 10cm vertical band on the right side. Negative picture behind this black band.

- Builds up high voltage for a short time and then switches off. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Line frequency changes downward (squeaking, whistling).
- Picture is distorted and changes. Loss of colours. (picture attached)
- The teletext contrast is considerably too high after installing the teletext decoder.
- Poor PSU start up. Severe crackle in the loudspeaker.
- Line tearing. at top. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- No picture. No audio. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Long picture at start up, black screen with rainbow spots. (25D81 tip from INTERFUNK)
- Picture shifted to the left. Sometimes picture fails completely, then still only picture blanking stripes visible. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Picture distorted, shifted upwards and a little bit too wide.
- NICAM is missing.
- The plug receptacle of the teletext decoder, which is contained in the additional component, does not fit mechanically into the socket receptacle of the appliance chassis.
- White screen. Flyback lines.
- Horizontal shaking. when cold.
- Dark screen at start up. Line transformer ok with flyback lines. Top 2 or 3 lines ok. In PB apparently functions around the IC TDA8372A. (picture attached)
- No tuning. only on certain channels. Dark screen. on the right.
- EHT is heard starting up then everything stops 4 secs later. (service info for INTERFUNK -25D81)
- No TXT (intermittently).
- PSU can not be loaded with 60W incandescent lamp.
- PSU is defective. 300V is present.
- Noise in picture. Poor horizontal synchronisation.
- Black bars on the bottom of picture. If V-amplitude is altered, picture disappears on the bottom. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- AV correction.
- Switches to protection mode. at start-up. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Shuts down. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Poor adjustment of horizontal picture centering. (+ extract of circuit diagram) (INTERFUNK - 25D81 information)
- Insufficient picture heigth (10cm) and severe linear distortion.
- As described in the manual it is possible to operate the video recorder on all program places through the aerial. But some appliances only change over on channels 37-39.
- Convex picture. Defective lower linearity. (picture attached)
- Line foldover by start-up. No sound. After warm-up, picture and sound are OK. Sync is still unstable.
- When the appliance is switched on it goes into undefined operating conditions ie. in spite of correct operating voltages the appliance has eg. no picture, no sound, no display etc. (25D81 tips)
- Only snow in the picture, after changing the tuner the fault is still there.
- Approx. 1cm bright, vertical line on the right hand side of the picture approx. 10cm from the edge.
- Poor audio.
- Wavy vertical lines in the entire picture when cold. Picture jitters. (+ extract of circuit diagram)

- Line transformer starts up but no display, nothing on the screen and no sound. (with circuit diagram extract)
- When ON/OFF switch is pressed LED lights up and then switches off. If line BU is replaced by lamp, it lights up and collector goes down to 124V instead of 155V. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Collapses at start up, then switches off.
- Hums at switch on, dies out slowly.
- No start up, no standby light, variable voltage on pin 16 of IC701. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Line output stage fails at switch on. With load (lamp) appliance can be switched on with squeaking noise. (with circuit diagram extract)

- Horizontal white line.
- Motorboating noise at switch on then goes into standby. When frame IC is unsoldered TV starts up. (picture attached)
- Goes into safety mode at switch on. If FBT is unsoldered then HT is re-established. No apparent S/C in secondary of FBT. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Strong blue dominance at top of picture. Rest of picture (approx half) ok. (picture attached)

- No horizontal or vertical deflection.

- High voltage runs high. Flashover all over.
- No vertical deflection. Only a horizontal bright line appears on CRT. Audio OK. (picture attached)
- Vertical dark bands running from left to centre of picture and separated by approx. 5cm.
- Intermittent loss of brightness, picture is black. Can be adjusted with RC. Or vice versa, picture is too light and can be adjusted.
- The picture is too large and wavers.
- Dark screen, only diffuse glow.
- Switches to standby when mains switch is plugged in. Switches off when using RCU. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Vertical IC fails. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Line synchronisation available only after 2 mins.
- Stops after 5 seconds. No standby LED. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Shadowing effect, left side of picture is brighter than the right one. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Dark picture. Stripes after a while. OK after warm-up. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Ok with signal. Without signal: unstable line frequency, line stage transformer makes a loud whistling noise and T511 (scanning transistor) shorts. (extract of circuit diagram attached)

- White point when switching off with ON/OFF switch. No point in standby.

- After the appliance is switched off a large spot of light appears for several seconds in the middle of the screen. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Operation commands are not carried out.
- Horizontal synchronisation fault, picture shifted towards left side. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Intermittent flyback lines. Grey scale varies intermittently. Possibly no picture.

- Top third of screen has ragged vertical lines.
- Switches on for a short time with RC, then switches off. "I" and "II" flicker on display. LED doesn't light. Starts up again with RC, if previously disconnected from mains.

- Vertical or horizontal picture shaking both when hot and cold. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- E/W trapezium does not function.
- Faint and too dark picture. Low brightness, contrast cannot be adjusted. Colour is adjustable. (service info for INTERFUNK -25D81)
- White, horizontal lines at the top of the picture. Lines decrease after a while but never disappear completely.
- Poor PSU start-up or BU defective. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Whenever a function is requested display lights up then switches off.
- At start up the power supply starts up for 2 secs then the appliance apparently goes into safety mode. No fault on the secondary.
- After transporting an appliance, the first time it starts up there may be distorted playback of colour (flickering, drop out or stripes) and/or defective teletext playback. (25D81 INTERFUNK repair tip)
- DF-AF adjustment.
- Automatic B/G-L detection does not work correctly with the Nicam sound carrier (TF1, FRANCE 2).
- Black screen. Display flashes once at switch on.

- Vertical IC (TDA3654) becomes hot, then fails after several hours. Picture OK. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- No picture. Hum in audio.

- At the top edge of the picture an unusual stain effect appears and line tearing. (service info for INTERFUNK -25D81)
- Does not go into TXT mode. Mixed mode possible.
- No synchronisation during the first few mins. (picture attached)

- Will not select text, or will only select mix or full text but not both, various other functions faulty.
- Vertical and horizontal synchronisation available only after 2 mins.
- No PSU start-up.
- No HV.

- At switch on, functions but with no picture. By pressing the CRT module it unblocks and the picture appears. Predominant colour depends on the pressure used.

- Picture tearing.

- Blue, vertical stripe in the right third of the picture.

- Loses sync at start-up for a few minutes.
- No start-up (when cold).
- When TV started up, transistor (S2000AF) instantly burn out. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Vertical, bright stripe faintly visible in the right third of the picture.
- No picture (intermittently).
- Stuck in standby.

- Lines in picture.

- PSU doesn't start-up or only after a while. Cracking sound.

- Switches to standby (intermittently).
- Tripping.
- Channel TF1 (channel 22) does not hold in SECAM: remains in PAL. The other channels are normal.
- Poor synchronisation. No picture. after a while.
- LED lights up briefly then nothing more.
- No functions. Red LED does not flash.
- At Power On standby LED switches off immediately after switching on.
- No tuning. Higher channels in band I/III/V are not received.
- White screen, horizontal lines without video signal. OK on scart output T971 OK IC950 OK. No beam limiter on 15 of IC950. Flash on the screen when changing channels.

- Horizontal stripe. in the centre.

- No audio (when cold).
- Appliance whistles. Sound and picture present. Picture interference (lines approx one centimeter apart over the whole of the picture).

- Cycles on/off. (25D81 tips)
- No vertical deflection. intermittently.
- E/W-fault.
- Poor line and picture synchronisation when cold.
- Buzzing at start-up.

- Hum bars, especially on yellow or orange background.

- Time constant switching over only occurs on memory sites 37 to 39 and AV.

- Few segments of the display too bright. Doesn't respond to commands.
- Standby display lights up for a short time. Line output stage attempts to function, but switches off immediately. (25D81 tips)

- Programmes change by themselves. RC is OK.
- Reduced contrast, especially on one side of the screen.
