3437OSCAR / ITT [TV]

The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers supplies the following faults for 3437OSCAR / ITT.

List of fault symptoms:
  • No display. Secondary power supply, power supply transformer ok. By removing the BU of the 145V power supply line, it decreases when you fit it again.
  • No synchronisation when switched on from cold. When warm, no synchronisation until appliance is switched off/on or intermittently after switching channels.
  • How to program SECAM standard (has gone into PAL). (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Picture becomes dark. Starts with black horizontal bars, similar to PIP picture eg. the left side is dark and the right side is normal.
  • Cross-hatched lines on upper side. Vertical linearity OK.
  • As a replacement TDA8372 or TDA8372A is supplied, which however necessitate a modification of the IC periphery. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Impossible to go into PAL mode from control panel. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • At switch on with the RCU appliance goes into polling mode or stand by. With an undervoltage appliance starts up. Appliance runs if the plug is pulled from the operation board.
  • No picture. 88 in display.
  • After approx one hour the TV switches off. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • No RC functions.
  • Poor start up of mono B board after a few plopping noises.
  • Contrast is poor when appliance warmed up.
  • Tripping after 2-3 minutes of operation or when switching channel.
  • Picture vibrates vertically, especially in TXT. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Ghosting and smearing. (part of circuit diagram displayed) (service info for ITT -3437OSCAR)
  • When operating temp. is reached PSU switches off after different periods of time. Previously there may be audible deviation from the power supply frequency (chirping), which often destroys the line switching transistor. (part of circuit diagram displayed) (3437OSCAR tips)
  • Picture turns black. Luminance fault, starts with black horizontal bars. Looks like PIP picture.
  • Switches to protection mode. after start-up.
  • Stuck in standby.
  • The sync separator-/horizontal-/vertical-oscillator IC TDA8371 is no longer manufactured. TDA8382 is supplied as a replacement, but at first does not function after it has been fitted. (service info for ITT -3437OSCAR)
  • With a strong contrast adjustment the protection circuit reacts. Appliance switches off. (picture attached)
  • Hum bars and unstable verticals. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • Whistling noise in sound after 5 mins. White bars and lines from bottom to top of screen. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • No start-up. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • No vertical deflection. Only 1cm height.
  • Low power supply voltage. Replaced electrolytic C701. All diodes OK. 7.2V on D702. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Trips off when warm sometimes loses memory. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • The power supply trips. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • When warm the appliance goes into standby.
  • Distorted picture immediately after switch on. Picture is normal after approx 15 mins.
  • Intermittently TV goes into PAL, returns to Secam, goes back into PAL and so on. Occasionally remains blocked in PAL. (picture attached)
  • Sometimes not possible to adjust contrast and colour. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • Distorted picture in vertical direction.
  • Partial field collapse. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • No picture. (picture attached)
  • PSU does not start up. Trips. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Vertical line.
  • Pulling picture.
  • With very bright scenes, sudden image changes or poor aerial signal picture fails and 10cm B/W vertical stripes on picture. Rest of the picture in colour. Intermittent fault.
  • No signal. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • No functions. "88" in display.
  • The TV hiccups. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • TV blocks in PAL, fine tuning ineffectual, S/C on C286. (picture attached)
  • Standby light flashes once when turned on but then goes out.
  • After replacing line output transformer, CTV starts up. Mains BU fails at switch on or in operation.
  • Enter service mode.
  • Dead. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • No picture but the power supply and high voltage function. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Appliance buzzes.
  • '88' on display, blanking lines on top edge of screen. (part of circuit diagram displayed) (3437OSCAR tip from ITT)
