  • Stand-by LED does not function.
  • Intermittent no video or front display.
  • Small picture with hour glass effect.

  • Picture becomes quite dark and gets distorted after 20 or 30 minutes.
  • Small, pulsating picture, low brightness, sound level varies.
  • Picture is small and pulses, brightness is low and the sound is variable.
  • Encrypted Canal Plus after 1 hr.
  • No start up, stuck in standby. Red LED switches off when trying to start up.

  • No video or standard switching.
  • No picture.
  • PSU chirps for approx 10 secs, then OK.

  • Picture pulls inwards at the top
  • Sometimes while watching a TV channel, TXT appears twisted, as if it had line tearing.
  • After half-an-hour flashing lines appear on screen.

  • Picture is horizontally highly distorted.
  • 00 on display, remote control often fails or no functions possible.
  • Reduced vertical and horizontal size.

  • Line S2055 fails immediately. FBT has been changed, TDA8372 has been changed.

  • Excessive horizontal size.
  • Carries out unwanted operating steps eg. switches off, switches over channel, changes volume etc.
  • Chirping.
  • Does not start up from standby, cracking is audible and appliance switches OFF, standby LED switches off.
  • The screen is black and the power supply whistles.
  • Line output stage U is 45V.
  • Appliance will not start up. IC701, D717 and C711 have already been changed. Appliance still won't start up.
  • The appliance switches off after hours or days and goes to standby. After switching on again it switches off after an even shorter period of time.

  • Shuts down. after start-up.
  • No green.
  • The picture is green and purple. No SECAM identification.

  • Starts up, but after 10 minutes picture is snowy and tuner sensibility decreases

  • Power supply. When rebuilding this supply, it is possible that R512 may have failed.
  • Vertical IC fails at switch on.
  • "S" distortion. Cannot be adjusted.
  • Dead. Whining.
  • Switches off and goes to standby after hours or days. After switching back on, the appliance switches off again after 30 mins. After that, in even shorter time.
  • When in standby appliance hums or crackles. LED pulses.
  • Power supply does not function.
  • White spot when switching TV off.
  • At switch on, stand by display lights up for a short time, line end stage attempts to work, but switches off again straight away.
  • Power supply squeeling and dead.
  • No start-up (intermittently).
  • Does not start when cold. Only chatters. Appliance runs when warm.

  • Erratic start-up.

  • Distorted picture. No audio (intermittently).

  • Intermittent line drive failure causing no picture but sound is OK.
  • Blank raster. Flyback lines.
  • Trips. when cold. No or intermittent start-up. when cold.
  • No picture and no sound. Image distorted.
  • Picture vibrates slightly for approx. 1 min.
  • Necessary modification when replacing oscillator part.
  • Purity fault and the sound hums. The positive temperature coefficient resistor has been changed.
  • Repeat failure of the STR58041.
  • Stuck in standby. LED flashes once and goes OFF.

  • The side of the picture drops and a horizontal line appears. Only a third of the line end stage works. The sound is missing, but the power supply unit operates.
  • Stuck in standby. LED is red .
  • No start-up.
  • Pincushion distortion.
  • The lower half of the picture does not exist.

  • Image jitter in upper part when turning on. Disappears after a short while.

  • Set dead. R502 is in open circuit but at switch on there is a bright flash and the plug fuse goes open circuit.
  • R702 fails at once if the aerial cable is plugged in (cable connection).
  • Poor start up when cold. Hiccups. OK after several attempts.
  • No sound or nasal sound.
  • E/W fault. No E/W correction.

  • LED flashes briefly at switch on, then appliance switches off.

  • Power supply goes into safety mode when coming out of standby.

  • BU508 fails in line output stage immediately after start-up.

  • When switching from AV input to any pretuned channel, no horizontal sync, but shortly after picture synchonizes correctly.

  • Intermittent colour bands at high contrast.
  • At switch on, blank screen and loud hash noise.
  • No audio. No picture.
  • Tearing visible especially with crosshatch pattern. Vertical lines.
  • Reduced picture, low brightness and varying sound.

  • Blinking colours or no colour on Canal Plus.
  • No power supply outputs.
  • Occasionally vertical picture jitter until total failure of the vertical deflection stage.
  • Station memory cuts out intermittently, especially when connecting the cable the stations fall out. Then the contrast adjustment gets defective and the appliance doesn't respond to the RC.
  • 24V when disconnecting collector of line transistor, otherwise voltage collapses. Line transformer does not start up. 5V on IC721. Display does not light up, standby lights up. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Picture shaking in random direction.
  • Switches off by itself after a while. Vertical lines on picture right side of approx 10 cm. Jamming in AV mode.
  • The station storage breaks down completely, when connected to cable, all the programmes are mixed up. The contrast control is defective and the remote control does not work. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • Mains fuse blown and mains transistor T707 (BU908) s/c.

  • Starts up only after several attempts, fizzles for 10 secs, then OK.

  • No red.
  • Horizontal sync error. Spund appears only when horizontal is synchronized. Can be adjusted with pot, but fails again when switching channel.
  • Occasionally, goes from top of picture to the green, hum in the speaker and dark bar. Goes from bottom to top.
  • Hum in picture. Lines shifted on top.
  • No synchronisation. intermittently.
  • No function, red LED lights up for a short time at switch on.
  • Vertical jitter.
  • No vertical deflection, only a horizontal bright line. Sound OK.
  • PSU attempts to start with noise. After 3-4 secs it stops and LED indicator goes off.
  • Faulty vertical deflection.
  • Low contrast (after warm-up).
  • Line transistor blows after 1 hour.
  • No sound or picture channel change indicator o.k.
