EV1 / MELECTRONIC [Video recorder - VHS HiFi]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for EV1 / MELECTRONIC.
List of fault symptoms:
- The sound of a pre-recording can be heard on a new recording. The picture is ok. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- No sound in EE operation. (picture attached)
- The appliance laces up during playback and then unlaces after 2 seconds. (with circuit diagram extract) (EV1 tips)
- No colour in PB. (picture attached)
- No sound in EE operation and PB. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Head and capstan servo do not synchronise and there is no colour during playback. (picture attached)
- Unlaces, laces up and unlaces again when STOP is pressed while PLAY is on. (MELECTRONIC - EV1 information)
- Colour "moire" through the AM-station (picture attached)
- No functions. No switch off of power.
- Laces up by itself. Cassette is loaded then ejected. Head drum runs uncontrolled. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- No EE picture and no PB possible.
- F625 (1.25A) fuse blown.
- Cassette will not load.
- Tracking lines run through the picture. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- The appliance stays on continuously and cannot be switched off. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Machine appears to be in the timer record mode, with the operate on record LED on and no display. When a cassette was inserted the machine set itself to record.
- Machine shuts down after 5 seconds.
- Chroma drop out on known good recordings, very intermittent. Checked for dry joints and clean video heads.
- The edge of the tape creases.
- After inserting the cassette the appliance winds forward for a short time and then ejects the cassette.
- Play LED's light continuously. Appliance does not perform any tapedrive functions, EE and eject are ok (with circuit diagram extract)
- Cassette is not pulled in. (MELECTRONIC - EV1 information)
- No function, the cassettes are accepted. The timer functions.
- Poor picture and lowerer sound in PB of own recordings after a short time.
- The sound oscillates, tracking cannot be controlled, interference in the picture. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Sams info.
- During PB the picture is dark. (with circuit diagram extract)
- The appliance transports too fast during playback. (picture attached) (service info for MELECTRONIC -EV1)
- No luminance on playback.
- No E-E, playback OK.
- With well-known good recordings, colour fails.
- Does not accept any functions. DEW on the display.
- The sound was very fluttery and jerky but the picture was virtually unaffected.
- Picture rolls and does not synchronise, sound howls, colour is intermittent.
- Colour is intermittent during play, no colour during special functions. (part of circuit diagram displayed)

- After plugging in the main plug into the socket the appliance does not function. The display does not light. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Not recording.
- Capstan motor does not synchronise. (extract of circuit diagram attached)

- Intermittent failure to play rented tapes in colour, machines own recording's played ok.
- Goes into rewind, no load, cuts out after 5 seconds.
- The display is dark or shows strange signs. (extract of circuit diagram attached)

- Drum and capstan servo do not synchronise and the colour is missing (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- The appliance does not wind. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Appliance does not eject the cassette and therefore does not take any tape drive functions. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Eats tapes and makes a grinding mechanical noise.
- Head and capstan servo do not synchronise. No colour during playback. (picture attached)
- Upper cylinder runs continuously. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- EE picture and playback do not function.
- No picture during playback, picture is dark. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- On record/playback the appliance stops after approx. 5 sec, afterwards it does not function anymore. After switching on/off the appliance functions ok. (EV1 tips)
- Poor picture and reduced sound after some time in PB of own recordings.
- Dead. Clock does not light up.

- The picture runs through, the sound varies and there are lines in the picture. (part of circuit diagram displayed) (EV1 MELECTRONIC repair tip)
- After switching on the function LED goes off.
- No control pulse out of IC 301.
- Video head drum does not turn. (with circuit diagram extract)
- No function during play, REC, FFWD and REW. (picture attached)
- Appliance laces up and unlaces straight away.
