7028 / METEOR [TV]

The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers supplies the following faults for 7028 / METEOR.

List of fault symptoms:
  • Coloured stripes in diagonal direction.
  • Strong noise from line transformer after start-up for approx. 0.5secs - then functions ok.
  • Occasionally appliance does not start up. After a while the picture goes green and black bands appear. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • No start-up. Standby LED flashes .
  • No playback of NTSC video 4.43 and 3.58MHz. (METEOR - 7028 information)
  • Flash in S-VIDEO mode. (extract of circuit diagram attached) (7028 tips)
  • Vertical roll.
  • Switches off by itself (when changing channels).
  • Switches to standby (intermittently). (with circuit diagram extract) (METEOR - 7028 information)
  • Incorrect display when started up. PSU noisy.
  • Blocks after a momentary fall of the power supply voltages. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Bright picture.
  • Line output stage transistor is defective
  • Reset circuit modification.
  • Line tearing. at top.
  • Flashes on Canal Plus. (service info for METEOR -7028)
  • Switches back to 4:3 position when changing channel in 16:9 position.
  • Black bars on the left anf right side (E/W), which become gradually wider.
  • Trips then dead.
  • Picture rolls. at top.
  • No RC functions. No OSD.
  • Coloured diagonal stripes across screen.
  • Noises from flyback transformer. No start-up.
  • No start-up. (7028 tip from METEOR)
  • Audio hum when picture has dark content.
  • No luminance. intermittently. (picture attached)
  • Dead. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Video copy function (EXT3 > EXT2) does not work.
  • Poor time constant of reset.
  • Picture is distorted and unstable at upper picture edge after start-up. Picture ok after approx. 3-5 mins
  • No functions. after start-up.
  • Horizontal jitter.
  • Occasional picture failure, no menu access (Text).
  • No start-up. Standby LED lit .
  • Electrolytic CB632 2.2µF/350V of the power supply goes defective. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Flickering vertical lines across screen.
  • A Eurodigi appliance should be connected to a satellite system without the 13/18V being available on the SAT aerial connection (communal aerials without multiswitch).
  • DPU 2553-S is a vital component in start up of mains power supply. Component must provide a drive pulse to line output stage at 2.5V supply voltage.
  • No picture. Audio OK . (with circuit diagram extract)
  • Secam LF impossible on Euro-Digi. "Secam LF" does not appear in the programme menu
  • Brightness varies.
  • Picture is exaggerated and overmodulated and colours are partly incorrectly displayed.
  • No start-up from standby.
  • When switching over the channel memory positions, occasionally the picture synchronizes too slowly. (METEOR - 7028 information)
  • Switches to standby. after start-up.
  • Whistling noise in standby. (METEOR - 7028 information)
  • No start-up. Standby LED's light fades after the mains switch was pressed.
  • Distorted picture. on upper half screen.
  • Noise in sound on reception of SECAM BG channel. Standard in program menu is blocked on "East BK".
  • Distorted picture. Whistling.
  • Does not switch to standby.
  • Couloured horizontal lines at upper part of picture.
  • No picture. Blank raster. intermittently.
  • Power supply transformer and line transformer defective (sometimes twice or more). (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • TV remains in standby. If you request start up the standby light goes off but the TV does not start up. (picture attached)
  • Bad synchronisation when zapping.
  • No start-up. "LM" in display.
  • Black picture on sides.
  • Gain of signal is low.
  • When switching over with the programme +/- button on RC, appliance jams or jumps to another program site, as if to the next one. Ok when switching over on the appliance. RC ok.

  • Switching on the SERVICE mode.
  • No start-up from standby with RC (intermittently).
  • Vertical lines (forming curls) during low brightness or dark picture. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • PSU failure.
  • Difficulty to start up. Frizzy picture.
  • No start-up or no picture after start-up. (7028 tip from METEOR)
  • Approx. 5cm horizontal white lines appear in middle of screen after 1.5 hours. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Hum in audio. Dark picture.
  • Starts only after several switch on/off.
  • No colour. in PIP. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • Dim picture.
  • Vertical deflection is occasionally distorted.
  • Reduced horizontal deflection. (service info for METEOR -7028)
  • Vertical line in the middle of the picuture. No horizontal deflection. Line is only visible when G2 control is turned up.
  • Switches to standby. after a while.
  • Picture crystallizes especially in PB via video recorder
  • Flyback transformer fizzles for approx 2 secs. Switches to standby.
  • No E/W correction.
  • Vertical jitter.
  • The +5V rectifier diodes DB604 and DB609 have been changed in the current series to the Schottky type SB3100.
  • Test signals are visible approx 5 cm under upper picture edge. Distorted vertical.
  • Excessive brightness in RF and AV mode.
  • Noise in audio. on the right.
  • Enter service mode. (7028 METEOR repair tip)
  • E/W fault.
  • Green lines on top of picture.
  • White vertical stripe for a short time. Switches to standby after approx 10 secs.
  • Trips. (picture attached)
  • No initialisation of EEPROM on appliances with mouse control from ROM EA105.0 onwards. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • Defective mains fuse (no apparent reason).
  • Horizontal lines on the top part of the screen in certain reception conditions. (picture attached)
  • Stuck in standby. (picture attached)
  • No function. Only green standby stripe flashes every other second.
  • Distortion of vertical lines when warm.
  • Reduced horizontal size (after a few minutes).
  • Horizontal line.
  • Starts up three times then switches off. (service info for METEOR -7028)
  • Blue picture.
  • A few seconds after switch-on, standby LED lights up, no function.
  • Impossible to switch on appliance. PSU only functions in standby. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Black picture and slight hiccups from power supply after a few mins.
  • No operation.
  • No functions.
  • White horizontal stripes across screen.
  • Coloured lines. at top.
  • Crackling audio. at low volume.
  • Vertical line. No horizontal deflection.
  • Poor start up. Display shows 1n.

  • Picture and sound menu cannot be operated.
  • Wavy vertical lines during dark scenes.
  • Horizontal stripes or just raster.
  • Whistling from PSU. in standby. (7028 tips)
  • Goes to protection mode after switch-on. Whistles 3 times then goes to standby.
  • Coloured lines running diagonally.
  • Horizontal lines. after warm-up.
  • Picture interference (dots) in S-VHS mode. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Reduced horizontal size.
  • No picture.
  • Dark picture.
  • Screen has horizontal black band. (picture attached)
  • Vertical size varies. (7028 tip from METEOR)
  • No function. Only standby LED lights up shortly after start-up.

  • Line tearing in top third of picture (vertical lines are torn).
  • Green tint in picture on half of the screen.
  • No start-up to standby.
  • Overheats immediately at start up. LED lit in standby. No LED number at start up. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Dead. Standby LED lit .
  • Various versions of preprogrammed EEPROMs for Euro Digi and their compatibility. (METEOR - 7028 information)
  • Switches to standby (after a few minutes).
  • Excessive horizontal size. E/W fault.
  • Flickering vertical lines in picture.
  • Top of picture is deformed.
  • No picture and no sound, no standby display. Standby LED only lights up after plugging in mains plug several times.
  • Replacement of the PIP module. Models 7192 - 7018.
  • Improvement of reliability.
  • No start-up. Only standby. LED lights shortly.
  • Vertical lines (visible when G2 is increased).
  • Capacitor C525 is destroyed after a few seconds.
  • Picture partly greenish.
  • Raster foldover at top. Thin lines visible.
  • Vertical line.
  • Snow in picture.
  • R538 (10K) is defective. (7028 tips)
