RS4282 / NAP [TV]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for RS4282 / NAP.
List of fault symptoms:
- Hum or buzz from speaker while set is off
- Turns on with auxiliary video and/or tuner audio.
- Excessive contrast. Doesn't turn picture control down to adequate level.
- Intermittent dead set. TV appears to shutdown.
- No start-up.
- No colour, or colour comes on slowly.
- Excessive brightness. Shuts down (intermittently).
- NO PICTURE OR SNOWY PICTURE. MAY BE INTERMITTENT. NO PIX SNOWY INTERMITTENT
- Channels change slowly in cable mode.
- Erratic on screen display. Thermally dependent.
- Regulation B+ inop
- Intmt. shut down at high beam current or channel chng (NAP - RS4282 information)
- Intermittent, does not turn on. Power supply ON/OFF latch may not always unlatch. Power intermittently dead.
- Radio frequences interference in UHF. (Dots, swirls, herringbone) on PIP version of P1 chassis. The problem will most likely be seen on UHF channels using an indoor antenna, but due to protection tolerances, may appear on any channels to varying degrees.
- TP4 voltage drifting.
- Bright raster. Retrace lines.
- Squealing noise. in PB.
- Too much contrast in picture. Can't turn far enough.
- Hissing from speaker when set is off.
- Washed out picture.
- Dark screen.
- Vertical foldover.
- SLOW CHANNEL ACQUISTION IN CABLE MODE. (RS4282 tips)
- No raster.
- Dead. Appears to be in shutdown. No horizontal drive.
- Audio hissing or popping when set off.
- Green picture.
- New headplate.
- Low or high B+ at Z430.
- Shuts down. Dead. No line drive.
- Factory mode entered when channel guide selected by remote.
- Dead set. 5V normal. Low reset line.
- Shuts down. at start-up.
- OSD intermittent. Symptom is thermally dependent.
- Intermittent colour.
- No HV. Drive was .8V with distorted waveshape.
- Screened lead for playback head.
- No line drive. No audio (intermittently).
- Washed out picture. Contrast inoperative.
- Picture has too much contrast/can't turn far enough
- No start-up. Relay clicks followed by shutdown.
- On screen display operates correctly. No off air video or audio. (NAP - RS4282 information)
- No colour.
- No picture. Doesn't respond to commands after being turned on. Has HV.
- Intermittently dead.
- REPEAT FAILURE OF Q502. WAVEFORM AT THE BASE OF Q502 IS SLIGHTLY ROUNDED AT THE BOTTOM. DEAD SHORTED Q502
- Set intermittently locks on channel 3. Cannot be changed. (NAP - RS4282 information)
- Sharp picture with sharp control at a minimum.
- +130 VOLT SOURCE (TP4) IS LOW AND NO RASTER. NO RASTER TP4 LOW
- No contrast. No colour. when cold.
- Dead. Repeated failure of D430. (RS4282 tip from NAP)
- Vertical bars.
- No power start-up after channel up/down while TV off.
- Delayed channel acquisition.
- 130V regulator source high.
- Intermittent shutdown. Intermittent horizontal drive. (RS4282 tips)
- Dead. Smoked.
- Noise (mech) from singing flyback: remove ihvt and check
- No picture, only snow.
- WHEN GOING THROUGH THE FEATURES LOOP (MENU), THE UNIT BYPASSES STEREO AND "AUX-IN" FUNCTIONS. CHECK PIN 8 OF THE MICROPROCESSOR. IF LESS THAN +4.8 VDC SUSPECT LEAKY D261. STEREO AUX MENU
- Q450 fails repeatedly. (RS4282 tip from NAP)
- No vertical deflection.
- Power shuts off intermittently but can be turned on again right away.
- No colour (when cold).
- High +130V source. Cannot adjust.
- Picture searches. AFT doesn't lock. (RS4282 NAP repair tip)
- Distorted audio when on. When off, soft hum or buzz from speakers.
- High beam current causes shutdown. Intermittent.
- Repeated failure of Q420.
- Intermittent or no colour.
- No audio. intermittently.
- Dead or intermittently dead.
- Relay chatter.
- Intermittent loss of or no colour on some channels.
- Locks on 1 channel. Doesn't turn on.
- Pix jumps (perhaps only on one station, such as 12)
- Shuts down (intermittently).
- Snow in picture.
- AFT searches too long in cable mode.
- Vertical collapse.
- Picture control has no effect.
- Vertical flipping or rolling during PB.
- Bright picture.
- HIGH PITCHED SQUEAL. SUSPECT L421 AT THE DRAIN OF Q420. THE CORE OF THESE 5.3 uH COILS MAY NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT GLUE OR THE FERRITE BEADS MAY BE FRACTURED. SQUEAL BUZZ WHISTLE
- 130v supply will not regulate
- Set will not turn off even when collector q-433 grnd
- White bar visible only on premium cable channels (RS4282 tip from NAP)
- Doesn't turn off even when the collector of Q433 is grounded.
- Colour slow to lock in after turn-on or channel change.
- Afterglow.
- Poor video performance from video input when no RF signal is present.
- No audio.
- Shuts down. when changing channels. Poor horizontal synchronisation.
- Shuts down.
- Video & audio inop, has raster, clicks on & off, bright screen
- Vertical lines. at top.
- WHEN TURNED ON HAS AUX VIDEO AND TUNER AUDIO. (service info for NAP -RS4282)
- Does not shut down. No tuning.
- Shutdown with glow in centre of picture. Mechanically sensitive.
- No picture.
- No OSD.
- No power off. Loss of audio.
- Audio sounds heard from speakers when set is off.
- Shut down after 10 min. with pix control set high (service info for NAP -RS4282)
- Picture tears at a point about 1/3 of the way down from the top.
- Shutdown at channel change. VCR trick modes flagwaving during PB.
- Dead, or shut-down when channel changed. May be intermittent. Horizontal OSC off frequency.
- No start-up. intermittently. Shuts down. intermittently.
- Shuts down. intermittently.
- Pulsating picture.
- Bouncing picture. when cold. (NAP - RS4282 information)
- Modified flywheel.
- Sometimes mechanism plug vibrates out of connector.
- Audio cuts in & out. losing 9v at Ic260-5
- Dead. TP4 at 0VDC.
- Switches off by itself. in PB.
- Hum in audio at power-off.
- Set intermittently shutsdown - unit acts up/ch change
- Intermittently comes up by itself. Pulses on and off at 1 sec intervals.
- 130V regulator sourse varies. (RS4282 NAP repair tip)
- Hum when off. Pop in audio when turned on.
- No colour. only on certain channels.
- No colour on some channels.
- Picture tearing from top. (RS4282 tips)
- Shuts down after 10 min when picture control set at high level. Restarts immediately when manually turning on/off, but keeps shutting down every 1-3 min.
- Shuts down on scene changes
- No picture. Microprocessor locks up.
- Dead. Relay clicks on. (NAP - RS4282 information)
- Shuts down when picture control set high.
- Shuts down when turned on, or when changing channels or scenes.
- In the features loop menu, unit bypasses stereo and aux-in.
- No picture. No audio. OSD OK .
- The cassette does not function
- 130V regulator source low.
- No horizontal drive. May not have audio.
- Snowy or no picture. May be intermittent.
- Continuous shutdown when picture control set high.
- No picture. No HV. Audio OK .
- Shutdown when picture control set high.
- Unit bypasses stereo and aux in functions (RS4282 tip from NAP)
