VN9000 / NIKON [Camcorder - 8mm]

The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers supplies the following faults for VN9000 / NIKON.

List of fault symptoms:
  • Intermittent transport.
  • Part number information. Changes in cassette holder assembly.
  • Focus motor rotates slowly, or focus motor rotates so fast focus bustles around focus point.
  • Auto focus doesn't operate with zoom level set to wide side.
  • ATF servo fails during PB.
  • Green picture (intermittently).
  • Service manual adjustment. Lens block adjustment and check procedure.
  • Camera switches off again immediately since the supply table is not driven.
  • Switches continuously from SP to LP.
  • Chroma was unlocked on PB.
  • Speed problem. T guide arm and rail base guide replacement procedure.
  • Mechanical noise. Mechanical noise during rew, or noise captured during REC.
  • Irregular loading. The cass tape may stick to the drum resulting in the tape being ejected. (last emergency - drum pg error).
  • Part number information. New connectors on replacement boards.
  • Ticking noise from mechanism in all modes.
  • Mechanism loads halfway without cassette, rewinds a few seconds and stops.
  • Blocks intermittently during tape unloading. (VN9000 tip from NIKON)
  • Eject inop ( TG-1 lever comes off it's guide )
  • Battery operation int
  • Part number information. The part detailed below should be used as a replacement for the guide rail base (1).
  • Short battery life. New battery terminals with double pins and improved contact resistance have been adopted to extend battery life.
  • No eject. Other functions OK .
  • RK gear goes under supply reel in REW and breaks. (VN9000 tips)
  • Battery life too short. (NIKON - VN9000 information)
  • Shutsdown in PB, FF and REW modes.
  • Door will not close. (VN9000 NIKON repair tip)
  • B/W REC.
  • Extension cable information. New extension cable.
  • Outdoors the auto WB operates as if it is used indoors (misadjustment indoors/outdoors).
  • Does not load tape.
  • Mechanism jammed. intermittently.
  • Mechanical noise in REW, PB and REC.
  • No picture in normal PB. Cue, Review and Pause OK.
  • Tape stuck in mechanism, no functions. Loads OK.
  • No Eject. Caution LED flashing. E-E OK.
  • Does not load tape. intermittently.
  • Tape spills out when REW is selected.
  • Automatic focus and zoom fail intermittently.
  • No tape loading, loads ok without a tape. No drum rotation.
  • Service information. Guide rail base (1) block assy replacement.
  • No mechanical operation. The bulletin illustrates a procedure to be followed to determine if the T reel and S reel need replacement.
  • Service information. Evr microprocessor data transfer on board replacement.
  • Loads tape then ejects immediately.
  • Low luminance signal in PB.
  • No chroma from camera head.
  • No focus or zoom. (service info for NIKON -VN9000)
  • REC in black and white. Colour ok in cassettes recorded before fault .
  • Cassette compartment will not release.
  • Part number information. The shape of the drum base and the guide rail base has changed. (service info for NIKON -VN9000)
  • No chroma in Camera mode.
  • No picture (in PB).
  • Part number information. Rotary upper drum assembly replacement.
  • Part number information. Part numbers and diagrams of FL mechanism chassis kits are given in the two page service bulletin.
  • Caution light on when loading. (service info for NIKON -VN9000)
  • Transport noise in FF, REW and PB.
  • DEW sensor on.
  • Ejection of cassettes is defective, blocked mechanically.
  • Does not load tape. No drum/head rotation.
  • Broken focus ring, zoom OK. (VN9000 tip from NIKON)
  • Does not accept cassette. Mechanical crunching noise. (NIKON - VN9000 information)
  • Cassette ejects but new cassette cannot be inserted.
  • Part number information. The springs of the FL mechanism have been changed. There is no compatibility with the former types.
  • When in REW, drum reverses. When loading the drum slows down, then the tape is unloaded.
  • Part number information. Part number - 39 pin flexible cable.
  • Adjustment information. The table given in the service bulletin lists the average evr adjustment data.
  • Auto focus continues operating, even if zoom lever set to macro area.
  • No eject intermittently. Capstan motor possibly doesn't rotate. Intermittently ejects. Capstan motor not rotating.
  • Jig availability. A modified RM95 remote commander is available as a servicing jig.
  • TG1 arm falls out.
  • Does not accept tape.
  • The take up reel table does not rotate with an inserted cassette. (service info for NIKON -VN9000)
  • Intermittently does not accept tape.
  • Intermittent or no camera power.
  • No PB.
  • Greenish E-E picture.
  • Moisture on tape indication.
  • Unstable picture. Oil on the tape or on the tape path may cause picture distortion, head clogging, tape eject or no drum rotation.
  • Part number information. Replacement of leaf switch for Q (fl) mechanism.
  • Mechanical noise.
  • Cassette compartment won't rise
  • Will not load tapes (intermittently no rewind). Mechanism only half loads then slowly attempts to finish.
  • Drum runs at high speed when power is applied.
  • Unit loads half way. Drum fails to change direction, then unit unloads.
  • Closes and starts to load, then jams.
  • No unloading or ejecting of tape.. Although the unloading operation during eject is normal the cassette compartment does not rise.
  • Caution light always is on and video from camera is intermittent.
  • No eject.
  • Does not load tape. No eject. Fault occurs intermittently. . (VN9000 NIKON repair tip)
  • After 20 secs tape end indicator came in.
  • Lines in picture.
  • Auto focus doesn't operate in dark room.
  • Cassette stuck in appliance and "caution" warning is displayed.
  • Destroys under side of tape.
  • Unit will not close door. When applying power, mechanism ejects OK, but will not set back to load/unload state.
  • Doesn't load cassette. Creaking noise from the mechanism.
  • Switches off after a short time. Take-up reel jolts.
  • Tape jams.
  • Ripples in picture.
  • Intermittent playback colour.
  • Auto focus doesn't obtain correct point, even when using siemens star.
  • Does not accept tape. Closes OK without one.
  • No eject. Powers down with caution indicator blinking.
  • No tape top or tape end detect. (VN9000 NIKON repair tip)
  • FL mechanism changes
  • Service manual adjustment. Correction of alignment procedures.
  • Part number information. New cassette compartment in FL mechanism.
  • Eats tape.
