55FGALAXY / NORDMENDE [TV]

List of fault symptoms:
  • Dark picture. No audio. OSD OK . (55FGALAXY tips)

  • At switch on colour is delayed.
  • When the focus pot is varied the brightness varies after a few minutes, the picture turns dark.

  • Repeated failure of BU508DF in power supply.
  • Standby light on, no start up of power supply.
  • FP01 blows.
  • White dotted lines appear on left of picture in VHF/Band I reception.
  • No light. Poor picture. Occasional horizontal tearing. If G2 is pushed in as far as it will go picture is better. Varies from 100 to 950V, 90 degree model, 114V on DP50.
  • No colour from aerial or scart. IC TA8559CN has been replaced. Wave peaks at MP output are correct.

  • Vertical lines are distorted horizontally. E/W equalisation can not be adjusted correctly.
  • Remains in standby or goes to standby intermittently.
  • Grey screen, no sound, no video in scart output. OSD ok.

  • Primary power supply fails under load.
  • No E/W correction. when cold.

  • No horizontal synchronisation.

  • Programme number/AV symbol is permanently displayed.

  • Vertical lines are distorted horizontally. E/W equalizer can not be adjusted correctly.

  • Thermal R349 O/C every 3 or 4 months. (picture attached)
  • PSU attempts to start up at intervalls. LED lights.
  • In VHF range (channel 5-12) white flecks and grey haze in the picture.
  • Grey picture with 6 flyback lines without picture content.
  • At switch on PSU goes defective.
  • Starts up then goes into protection mode. Standby light on. Sound OK but no picture. Bluish screen with shadows.
  • Transistor TP 29 short circuits after working for some time.
  • White screen, no picture. Sound ok on all channels. Same via scart.
  • Black stripes on upper and lower picture edge.
  • Fault at top of picture about 4cm after 30 mins.
  • Does not change channels.
  • Buzzing and chirping, then switches to standby.
  • PSU pulsates every second and the standby light flashes.

  • Vertical foldover.
  • No sawtooth signal on raster. Horizontal bar appears at bottom of picture.
  • 1 flyback transformer pulse then standby. If the picture appears, one time out of five there is crackling in the transformer then standby.
  • Siren noise in speaker.

  • Crackling noise from power supply then dead.
  • Goes to SAFETY mode and no scanning possible.
  • Noise on loud speaker and the screen is black. The appliance goes to stand by after a few minutes.

  • Picture starts off very bright and after few secs goes dark.

  • Fuse and TP29 fail repeatedly.

  • Occasionally small horizontal black line at the top of the screen and line transformer whistles slightly.
  • Picture and sound disappear after a few days or even after 5-6 hours operation. Standby stays on. Switching off and on help for a while.

  • Distorted picture.

  • HV and U-sys too low.

  • No EHT. Black screen.
  • Picture is displaced from frame towards top part of screen (approx 4cm).

  • Picture is green, red and blue with flyback lines.
  • TL19 (S2000 AF) is S/C after switch on.

  • Use of the lithium battery.
  • Blows fuses immediately after switching on.
  • Switches on, HV appears, then switches to standby.
  • Amplitude varies with the voltages.
  • No picture scanning.
  • After some time, picture cuts out then returns immediately, standby light weakens but stays on, then CTV has a frizzy picture.
  • Blue fails - occasionally blue flyback lines visible.
  • Cuts out and then starts up from time to time after working for several hours.

  • Goes into standby after reducing the frame to a horizontal line after a few mins.
  • Picture and sound hang up.

  • Starts up at switch on with the red light lit. Impossible to go into standby via the control panel or RC. (picture attached)
  • Memory loss with Canal Plus decoder.
  • Picture with predominant yellow/green.
  • Switches off by itself. at start-up (when cold).
  • Black and white picture. No RGB on 41, 42, 43 of IV01. 200V on DL11 is correct.

  • HT starts up for 2 secs then TV goes into standby.

  • No colour (when switching).
  • At switch-on, vertical centering of picture offset by 2 cm towards the top of screen.

  • No colour during Canal Plus.
  • Regulation fault of the PSU. Standby LED flashes red every sec.
  • Power supply BU blown at switch on.
  • BU transistor TP29 blows again.
  • Line BU clicks.
  • Grey scale incorrect. Yellow-green picture. High voltage on the blue cathode (170V). Voltage on the red cathode, as well as on the green, is normal (135V).
  • Poor framing.
  • Picture instability depending on sound.
  • Channel memory loss approx every fortnight.
  • White picture with stripes. Switches off after a short while.
  • No power supply on the uP.
  • Audible start up when cold. Switches off after 1 sec. After switching on again, only standby LED is lit. No other functions. Raster is defective (extract of circuit diagram attached)

  • Starts up in standby. Standby display ok.
  • To improve alignment.
  • Cut off lines visible after some time.
  • Fluctuations of the picture according to the video content.
  • US voltage is 57V. If you unplug pin 3 from the line stage transformer the voltage returns to 113V. Line stage transformer has been changed.

  • Can not be switched on from standby via RC. (55FGALAXY tip from NORDMENDE)

  • When set to standard adjustments the contrast value is too high. (service info for NORDMENDE -55FGALAXY)
  • FBT is started up by a signal but appliance does not start. In standby mode.
  • TV starts up for a few secs and leaves a motor noise in the speaker. By disconnecting DL13, the appliance starts up again.
  • Reduced horizontal size.
  • No OSD display. Sound cuts out at channel switch-over. Sound OK at start up. When channels are changed using TV front control keys, channels roll over even when key released.
  • No colour (via SCART).
  • After operating for some time the channels begin to run through. Nothing occurs when the circuits are cooled down.
  • Standby LED switched on, becomes green for an instant. No start up. Power supply sends pulses.
  • To improve operation of mute circuit.
  • Oblique lines towards the top of the screen and there may be a demagnetization fault and the demagnetization coil is ok. The PTC has already been changed.
  • Blows on a white picture. Power supply as new.
  • Fuse FP2 (630mA) blows.
  • No line output funtion. OK at switch on.
  • Channel programming and saving in SECAM mode.
  • Trips erratically.

  • Occasionally sound and video drift on channel 64. Operation is good on the other channels.
  • How to remove protection.
  • No TXT (intermittently).
  • Dark picture. after warm-up. No picture. after a while.
  • Power supply voltage: 15V: 8V; 140: 80V. The same with the line transformer disconnected.
  • After changing FBT twice, light varies when you turn focus pot; FBT ok, after a few moments light decreases at switch on, light picture with G2 set to minimum then darkens.

  • TL19 becomes hot and fails after approx 15 secs.
  • No reception. EHT flashovers.

  • TL19 (S2000AF) fails repeatedly.

  • No stations found in search. Seems to have poor power supply filtering.
  • Vertical deflection has collapsed to a bright line in the middle of the screen.

  • Occasionally the TV pulsates at start up.
  • S2000AF in power supply is defective. Functions OK for a week, then S2000AF and primary fuse defective. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Blurred picture which occasionally becomes normal again.
  • Teletext clock stops. Each 5cm high part of the picture is missing.
  • Intermittently PSU doesn't start up via RC and mains.

  • In breakdown mode with 2.2K, pin 20 and 32 have been removed, EHT but 300V pulsates instead of 600 or 700V. 100V at the start of video but everything collapses if you refit DL13.

  • PSU fails immediately after start-up.
  • Pulsates if TV is started up after being put into standby.
  • PSU does not strat.
  • Snow on the screen.

  • Occasionally there is no light at all.

  • Channels run through and do not stop.
  • Power supply goes to standby and standby light is lit up.
  • TV switches off when changing channel and with great variations in the beam current.

  • Dark screen. Blue 1cm band at the top of the screen. No access to functions of: volume, channel, standby (no sound or picture). (picture attached)
  • After appliance has been moved, strange colours. Red has become blue and screen is affected by a mauve halo.
  • Poor audio (via SCART).

  • Vertical picture position shifts intermittently upwards approx 2 cm after switch on. It is OK after approx 10 mins.
  • Switchover to another program site is not carried out.
  • Picture vibrates in the rythme of sound.
  • TL19 fails in line output stage.

  • Rainbow effect on top of screen.
  • No start up of line transformer and LED pulsates slightly.
  • After a short time the US voltage increases so that the TV cuts out.
  • Flag effect when playing back with a VPH6400 Thomson VCR. Ok via scart.
  • Programmed on channels but still only snow. Selector does not react on channel inputs.
  • White line. at bottom.

  • No channel storing.
  • Line transformer starts up three times then nothing. LED stays red.

  • TV stops and starts up again immediately. Standby light is on.
  • No start up of PSU, sometimes intermittently.
