List of fault symptoms:
  • Siren noise in the speaker.
  • When switching off the appliance in standby and with the mains switch there is a loud crackling in the speaker. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Blackish bar after whites.
  • Red raster. Horizontal lines.

  • Works for 10 secs then goes into standby. TV ok after switching off then on again.
  • Line in centre of picture.
  • No signal.

  • 3cm white line at top of picture. No sound and no video, not even in scart. Green LED on.
  • Coloured tinge in picture.

  • Picture is somewhat noisy.
  • Does not switch to standby.

  • The channel nos run through, no sound or picture but it works in video.
  • Standby LED flickers and PSU does not start up correctly.
  • Shuts down.
  • Switches off by itself. intermittently. Standby LED lit .
  • Picture is displaced from frame towards top part of screen (approx 4cm).
  • Grey scale incorrect. Yellow-green picture. High voltage on the blue cathode (170V). Voltage on the red cathode, as well as on the green, is normal (135V).

  • At switch on starts up with severe noise in loudspeaker then stops and remains in standby.
  • US (110V 90º - 143V 110º) goes high after a few mins and TV trips.

  • Bright picture. Flyback lines.
  • Dark picture. Can only be slightly adjusted.

  • Unstable frame linearity.
  • White line. at bottom.

  • Does not come on from standby, red standby light comes on. TV01 and TV02 in the protective circuit respond.
  • Defective picture, poor colour and white dot at switch off.
  • Picture is green, red and blue with flyback lines.

  • Picture pulling on bright scenes.
  • PSU starts for a few secs then collapses while pumping on the standby point.
  • Colour fault.

  • TL19 becomes hot and fails after approx 15 secs.
  • No light. Poor picture. Occasional horizontal tearing. If G2 is pushed in as far as it will go picture is better. Varies from 100 to 950V, 90 degree model, 114V on DP50.
  • No TV picture and humming from loud-speaker.
  • Vertical lines are distorted horizontally. E/W equalizer can not be adjusted correctly.
  • Weak contrast.
  • Vertical foldover.
  • When set to standard adjustments the contrast value is too high.
  • Blue tint in picture intermittently.
  • Occasionally horizontal tearing and horizontal stripes. Same faults via aerial and in scart.

  • At switch-on, vertical centering of picture offset by 2 cm towards the top of screen.
  • TV starts up for a few secs and leaves a motor noise in the speaker. By disconnecting DL13, the appliance starts up again.
  • After a few minutes the screen goes black and motor boating occurs.
  • White band on top of screen. Only a buzzing noise coming from loudspeaker.
  • No audio (via SCART).
  • No raster deflection. No picture, only vague light in background. Looks like coloured spot at bottom of picture.

  • After changing FBT which sparks, the very high tension is ok. No light on the screen even when forcing G2 44469905.

  • At switch on PSU goes defective.
  • Safety mode comes into play.
  • Switches off intermittently (often at programme switch).
  • Blue flash in Secam.
  • Does not pick up in UHF or in VHF.
