348903 / OTTOVERSAND [TV]

List of fault symptoms:
  • During playback via AV-Scart (various recorders and cassettes), wide stripes in the top part of the picture, shifts and distorts.
  • No picture (intermittently). No TXT (intermittently).
  • EHT collapses.
  • Switches to standby after 10 mins. Slight hum. Normal switch on after 4 mins, operates for 10 mins etc.
  • Change in PSU.
  • CRT board.
  • No sound via aerial. Sound ticking when Vol+/- are pressed. OK via AV.

  • Repeated fail of line transistor T661.
  • Sometimes appliance goes to standby after switching on with the mains switch.
  • Vertical fault or no picture (blanking) with TDA8170 or TDA8172.

  • When using a scart cable the video text or remote control do not function.

  • The picture width control fails, therefore an east/west fault occurs. (picture attached)

  • Grey picture with flyback lines, no sound.

  • White picture with flyback lines. No sound. Error occurs immediately after start-up or after approx 1 hour.
  • Loud audio. Volume uncontrollable.
  • BUT fails repeatedly.

  • Program 1 to 9 and AV work fine, but higher programs do not appear in the display.
  • Dead. Display OK .
  • Display indicates 1 and 00 after switch on with mains switch. Sometimes no picture or sound. (service info for OTTOVERSAND -348903)
  • IC U6202B in tuner always fails.
  • No operation.
  • T661 and fuse 624 fail. No short circuit can be measured. Start up operation is ok. Line mains transformer has already been replaced. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • No audio. intermittently.
  • White screen. Flyback lines. No audio. after warm-up.

  • No colour after Teletext has been used.

  • Faults occasionally occur on the focus spark bridge, due to flash over the picture occasionally goes dark, switches off and skips to TXT.
  • Does not start up. Only channel number on display.
  • Hum of sound and picture intermittently. Microphonic effect from the tuner.
  • No synchronisation.
  • Horizontal jitter. Vertical jitter.

  • No TF1, A2 or FR3 but Canal Plus, Arté and M6 are properly tuned in.
  • E/W fault. Focus problems.

  • Faulty switching transistor.

  • Difficoult startup. Starts up well if mains switch is hold pressed for a longer time.
  • Line tearing. on upper half screen.

  • Loss of picture/sound due to incoming signal.

  • Attempts to start up. Knocking is audible in loud speaker.

  • No picture after operating for some time. Channel display is present. No sound. Approx. 10cm large cross in the middle of the picture. It runs again after it has been switched off for several hours.
  • After switching on the appliance high voltage is built up over a short time then appliance fails again. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • Intermittent switching to AV.
  • After approx 15 mins flyback lines with no picture content and then goes to standby. Appliance is switched off and after approx 5 mins switches on again then ok. After approx 15 mins same thing happens again.
  • Vertical line. Whistling. after a while.

  • After approx 30 mins appliance switches into standby mode.

  • Colour fault.
  • Bright vertical stripes in the picture.
  • The line output stage is u.s., all the power supply unit voltage is present. (The line output transistor have been changed due to s/c.)
  • PSU starts up but pulsates loudly.
  • After switching on the appliance it switches off immediately, without the aerial signal the appliance does not switch off.
  • No sound. Ticking from loadspeaker.
  • T521 overheats quickly.
  • Picture shifted to the left.
  • Two keys need to be pressed when selecting a programm.
  • No picture. OK via SCART .

  • Switches to standby (intermittently).
  • Transistor BUT12A is S/C.
  • Switches off after 15 mins. if switched on via power switch. If it is switched on again after a while, it functions for several mins.
  • The colour and picture sometimes partially disappear during increased brightness.

  • No sound. Channel appears on dual channel
  • No picture. after a few seconds. Audio OK .

  • Value of R663 and R666.

  • Low audio.
  • No function. Low chirping in transformer TR665.

  • Reduced vertical size.
  • Hiss in standby.
  • Unstable picture at top. Power limiter of TDA 3640/IC 655 switches on in top part with bright picture content.
  • No picture. Audio OK .

  • Changes the combination power/line deflection.
  • Snow but no picture. Display shows corresponding channel. works ok in scart.
  • No picture (after a while).
  • After operating for a short time high voltage fails. PSU whistles. Switch appliance off at the mains for 15 mins, appliance functions again. Standby function is ok. Appliance is not temperature sensitive. (picture attached)
  • Does not switch to standby.
  • Only switches on after activating mains switch several times. (picture attached)

  • No picture. Display OK .
  • Blurry picture. No or intermittent picture.
  • Flyback lines. when cold. Shuts down. after a while.
  • Dark screen.

  • After short operating time it turns itself off. Image becomes for a short while bright. Visible flyback lines. Display operating.

  • Colour disappears locally when brightness/contrast is high. Picture is distorted.

  • Tube IC 2930407037../45.

  • HiFi does not work.
  • BUT76A shorts. Power supply IC is ok, power supply diodes ok. Capacitor ok.

  • No stereo reception after replacing the tuner.
  • Dead.
  • BUT76A defective after replacement.
  • Intermittent program codes through picture, TXT does not function properly.
  • Horizontal picture synchronization fails. Intermittently picture becomes dark and one TXT line is visible. If TXT is switched on and off again, picture OK. Sound OK.
  • PSU does not load correctly. PSU produces chirping noises.
  • Hardly visible raster with flyback lines at switch on, then goes dark. Sound present.
  • Picture narrowed to a line and raster for 5 mins when cold. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • After approx 15 mins the picture still only shows a bright raster.
  • Dark picture.
  • Approx. 10cm high white cross is weakly visible in the middle of the picture. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Mains transistor BUT 56 fails after some time. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • Slight noise on switch on. Clicking noise appears when operating the volume control. Stereo sound is ok but mono only hums. (348903 tips)
