349003 / OTTOVERSAND [TV]

List of fault symptoms:
  • Functions correctly for 10-15 mins, then at channel change screen becomes black and sound is absent. OK via scart. (349003 tip from OTTOVERSAND)

  • PSU does not start up. No standby. Degausssing is audible.
  • Top of picture elongated. Bottom OK.

  • Picture covered by a fine shimmering, black lines.

  • Impossible to receive L standard without thermal tube noise. B/G standard is received but search does not stop.
  • Picture appears slowly. Audio OK .

  • Horizontal jitter. Picture rolls. intermittently (after warm-up).
  • Fails completely or switches to stand-by and tries to start intermittently.
  • Horizontal line or black stripe in upper part of picture. Distorted vertical deflection.

  • Motorboating noise from speakers. in standby.
  • No MONO audio.
  • Picture goes dark then disappear but OK when warm.
  • No reception after approx. 5 mins after switch over. Search is on UHF end. Program ok at switch on.

  • Sound becomes louder, sound crackles, OSD also changes.
  • Venetian blinds via AV1. Stripes when switching from one programme site to another.
  • Intermittent loss of picture on changing channels, when the channel is changed the screen is blanked in the usual way and the new channel selection number is displayed, but the screen stays blank. (picture attached)
  • Trips a few times, then no function.
  • No picture. R807 (1K/1W) heats up.
  • Poor linearity or geometry. Frame linearity fault. Usually only occurs in sets which are more than two years old. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Intercarrier hum by bright picture.
  • No G2 power supply.
  • Hiccups after a few mins (picture folds over). Power supply voltage seems to collapse. Continues to do so, nothing seems to become hot.
  • No picture. intermittently. Intermittent audio.

  • When warm no sound or video. VC still 31V on the tuner, RCU does not work. When cold ok again. IC001, 002, 003, 501 have been changed.
  • Poor linearity. at bottom.

  • Intermittent picture roll. Then picture is negative and occasionally no picture.

  • Set stuck on channel 11 and no response to either the front controls or the remote control unit.
  • Dark picture. OSD and TXT OK .
  • Picture reduction at the bottom.
  • One colour cuts out or picture gets darker.

  • No or intermittent start-up.

  • No synchronisation. when cold.

  • No power on AC. The majority of flyback transformers changed are not faulty.

  • Horizontal roll.
  • Starts up at Power On then switches off immediately after. It takes 2 or 3 minutes to start up again.
  • Screen is dark after switch on, after approx 10 mins it is blue with flyback lines and becomes brighter. After other 10 mins appliance functions faultlessly for 30 mins, then picture is completely bright with flyback lines.
  • Switches on, EHT present momentarily then set switches off. (picture attached)
  • Green picture. Retrace lines.

  • Vertical roll.

  • G2 voltage missing.
  • No TXT. intermittently.
  • LED lights up and then switches off when switching to standby. Appliance does not start up again unless it is completely switches off for 3 minutes. Functions OK if standby switching is not used.

  • Only snow on channel 2 and 3 (band VHF1).
  • No vertical and horizontal sync. Lines only and picture running.

  • Channels slightly drift off tune after short time, then noise in sound and no colour.

  • Searches for channels continuously. intermittently.
  • Occasional popping noise from loudspeakers.

  • Low brightness and orange coloured picture.

  • Reduced vertical deflection. Poor vertical linearity.

  • Good power supply 135V, 14V and 7V. No sound, no picture, IC001 has been changed. Pin 16 3V instead of 0V Q606 and Q605 0.6 on the base.
  • Tuner drift in frequency. Channel search is impossible. CTV still indicates auto, channels run through but no memory.
  • Picture and sound cut out after a few mins when the channel no is displayed, returns to normal a little later. Appear not to be any defective solder joints. (+ extract of circuit diagram)

  • Dead. Comes on in standby when switched on from socket.
  • Reduced vertical and horizontal size.
  • R807 (1K) burns as soon as appliance starts up.

  • Shuts down. intermittently.
  • Poor picture in band I and III (channels 2 and 4)
  • Stretched field scan from centre to top of screen with no field scan from centre to bottom.
  • Switches to PAL after a long time or no sound and no RC.
  • PSU chirps. LEDs flash.
  • No picture, no sound or fails when warm.

  • Dark screen and no sound in UHF and negative picture in VHF after working for a few hours or days.

  • Dark picture. after warm-up (intermittently).
  • Goes to black and white, sound shifts and groans, similar to tuner drift.

  • When tuning after finding the desired channel, if you press the memory button everything disappears instead of fixing the picture.
  • Intermittent voltage at secondary PSU.
  • Red standby LED flashes constantly after switch on. If it is switched on with RC, LED goes out, but appliance does not start.
  • Vertical fault.

  • Scart plug 1 does not work. Neutral screen with symbol 1 displayed on screen during Canal Plus or when VCR is in PB.
  • Right side of picture is dark. Pincushion fault on the left.
  • Field striations across the top of screen.

  • White line. at bottom.

  • Shuts down.

  • After pressing main switch, PSU makes 4 attempts to start and then stops.
  • Black screen. Sound OK. Loud crackle in speakers at switch off with RC.
  • No brightness.
  • No or poor sync.
  • R807 blows intermittently every couple of months on the G2 circuit.
  • No power supply (+290V is present).
  • Resistor, diode, line transformer have been changed. TV functions for 5 mins, picture gradually turns red then nothing. When picture present, no sound. Resistor has burnt.

  • Destroy of R807.

  • Linearity error.

  • Intermittent colour.

  • High voltage is built up, then goes off immediately.
  • Takes too long to start up. After approx. 10 min. starts up suddenly.
  • Negative picture when cold and/or lines on all channels.
  • Trips.
  • Transistor (2SD1548) in power supply S/C.
  • When the appliance has operated for a certain time a slight hum can be heard from the speaker. The volume varies on both mono and stereo.
  • Defective On/Off LED. Loss of LED from standby. Cannot be started up again.

  • Distorted audio.

  • M58655P blows at switch on. 5V ok, -33V slight pollution on pin 2, ok on other side of R062. CLOCK and DATA ok.

  • O/W is defective.
  • Picture fades out but comes back slowly with auto grey scale correction visible if hit.
  • Dark/blurred/no picture. Smell of burning
