706400 / OTTOVERSAND [TV]

The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers supplies the following faults for 706400 / OTTOVERSAND.

List of fault symptoms:
  • Volume control is erratic in lower control range.
  • Switching off the two-digit programme sites (10-29, 10-49, 10-99 depending on the individual set). Switchover using the numeric buttons will therefore become quicker. Two-digit programme sites can still be chosen with rocker switch.
  • Poor synchronisation. OK when timing is on and via scart.
  • Each time the TV is switched on, it goes into AV. You are forced to increase the channels and the sound is too low, it increases very slowly.
  • Sound fails sporadically or switches to "optimum" function, particularly in bright rooms.
  • OSD of wake up alarm (yellow box with time of day), although this has not been programmed.
  • Stuck on a channel.

  • Starts up with "AV". (service info for OTTOVERSAND -706400)
  • No blue. The collector voltage on T781 is 47V. It increases to the same potential as the other two transistors when the tube support chroma board connector is disconnected. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • When switching channels the "momentary" channel display remains on.
  • Snow in picture. Patterns in picture.
  • Switches off by itself. Knock sensitive.
  • IC790 (TEA5101A) is inoperative.
  • Changing over to the differing French cable channel raster. (service info for OTTOVERSAND -706400)
  • Slight grey flyback line, picture fading and slightly green.
  • Picture is saturated in red with blue colour bleeding when eliminating colour using RC. If screen is red, picture contents are blurred.

  • No audio. Picture OK .
  • Line transistor BU508D heats up and blows in standby. (picture attached)

  • Entry of mean values (brightness, contrast etc.).

  • Reduced vertical size. Coloured lines. at top.
  • TDA4605 and BUZ90A blow after a few days for no apparent reason. (picture attached)

  • 80% snow on screen.
  • Volume and brightness control with RC units RP6LCD and RP65LCD.

  • Very dark picture. Only 2 colours, pale blue and green dominance. Picture content horizontally torn and fade.
  • Buzz in audio.

  • Jagged picture.
  • PSU pulsates.
  • Line oscillates.
  • White screen.
  • No reception of the CCIR high channels.
  • Intermittent RC or RC ok after switching off for a rather long period of time. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Line in top third of picture. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • Procedure to obtain optimum tube heating voltage.
  • No reception.
  • No sound or picture. The screen is grey and white. Slight noise in the sound.
  • Crackling audio.
  • Sound is missing or picture is black/white on individual program sites.
  • Screen is lit and fuzzy, no sound, no keyboard. Display indicates U with a point on the right.
  • Green colour is missing.
  • RC IR DATA PROGRAMMER IDP1 or IDP2: automatic programming mode "HP".
  • Blocked in AV, functions in scart. No picture, no sound, uniform grey screen. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • No display. PSU chirps.
  • Jagged verticals when cold.
  • IC811 does not function correctly. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • No or poor synchronisation.
  • Excessive green. Flyback lines.
  • Channels 1 to 9 are ok. Impossible to have the other channels since after 9 you go right back to channel 1.
  • Sound cuts out intermittently or appliance changes channel by itself.
  • No red. If 3 resistors (1K5) unplugged from tube input and blue one connected on green one then picture is green; if blue one connected on red one then picture is black.

  • Vertical picture, vibrating (lines).
  • Switches over by itself. Volume varies. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • Start up in "AV", (1AV).
  • Red colour is missing.
  • Colour output stage ICs fail repeatedly.

  • No brightness or brightness flickering after warming up.

  • No AV operation via scart. Tuner operation ok.
  • Blurry picture. Colour bleeding.
  • No picture or picture amplitude is too reduced and can not be adjusted.

  • Transistor T572 is destroyed over and over. Either at switch over to another program, or after longer run length. (706400 tip from OTTOVERSAND)

  • No tuning. Only one channel appears, otherwise only snow.
  • Sound and brightness adjustments with RC units RP6LCD and RP65LCD.
  • functions only from program 1-9. Switches on with AV. Special channels shfited.

  • When switching channels the "momentary" channel display remains on. (706400 tips)
  • No reception of CCIR high channels. Then receives a cable channel with French standard (display indicates "n1").
  • Mixed colours when increasing the contrast.

  • Goes to standby occasionally (sometimes twice in one hour or once in one month).
  • Severe picture distortion in IF stage.
  • No audio. OK via SCART .
  • Black screen without picture. No picture in AV mode either. Sound OK.
  • No front panel function. RC OK.
  • Incorrect channel raster or standard. Channels shift.
  • Appliance switches off in intervals which are constantly decreasing. After complete discharge the appliance runs for approx 90 mins then switches into standby, after repeated switching on approx 2-3 mins operating time.
  • Loud crackling at switch off.
  • Sound adjustment varies at low volume. (+ extract of circuit diagram)

  • No HV.
  • Unable to store colour settings.
  • In PIP to change small picture position in the corners and frame.
  • Channel names appear continuously or not at all.
  • Vertical collapse. White line. in the centre.
  • Picture becomes white after a while and then drops out (flyback lines). Intermittently no picture at start-up. (706400 tips)

  • Sound turns up and down at times.
  • White bars and dots on picture when Canal Plus is encrypted. Picture OK in clear.

  • Canal Plus pumps with Syster.

  • RCU does not function with Teletext.
  • Snowy screen as if there is no aerial. Channel display normal.
  • Streak on video (almost inverted), faded picture even in fast switching.
  • Sound cuts out occasionally or the appliance changes channel by itself.

  • Switches to standby (after start-up).
  • No picture. Grey screen. Brightness and contrast values are reset when ever any storing is attempted. Signal OK through SCART.
  • TXT VT5305TF on mono chassis: change of TP621 for TP661 with its TXT control panel.

  • Green picture.

  • After some time crackling in sound for a few secs then sound ok and begins to crackle again. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Dark screen.
  • Very fine black lines over the picture. Very slight motor boating noise in the sound.

  • Station name - (station contraction -) OSD: without/a short time after each programme change/permanent.
  • Horizontal and vertical instability.
  • After tuning a channel, when pressing M button to store, tuning is lost and screen turns grainy.

  • No red. Faded picture when pot G2 or focus pressed. Convergence fault. Signals between input and output on picture tube socket are ok.
  • Logo displayed for a short time when changing channels, display is constant, display fault.
  • Programming a set using the programmer HTP89.

  • Switches automatically to program site AV instead of program site 1 after switch on.
  • Change over from FB30 to FB101.

  • The colour output stage ICs fail repeatedly.
  • No synchronisation.
  • Dim picture and fading colours.
  • Input of averages at memory loss of analogue values.

  • No reception on any channel. Memory not operating.
  • Line tearing. Vertical size varies.

  • General information.
  • Automatic programming (HP) for dealers with the IR autoprogrammer FZ900G1.

  • Front screen.
  • Loud sound. Bright picture. Adjustment values of the picture and sound cannot be memorized.
  • After 10 minutes, does not accept commands from operating panel of RC. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Intermittently blue raster, flashing black line then blank raster.

  • No Teletext or only wrong characters on the screen with certain stations.
  • PSU pumps at switch on for a few mins. Display flashes. TV functions when warm.
  • After replacing the microprocessor SDA2023, A002 short circuits it. The TV operates well in scart but not in HF (dark screen). No sound. Only 2 buttons on the control panel function
  • TV blocked in standard 0 (low range). (OTTOVERSAND - 706400 information)
  • Does not switch to standby. intermittently.
  • Channel indication does not match channel. Channels appear as if they have been shuffled.
  • Green colour bleeding and white lines.
  • Does not go to standby position despite correct indication in display. (picture attached)
  • Does not switch to AV. Display present.
  • Horizontal white line. in the centre.
  • Channels drift off tune (for ex. K60 = K66, K32 = 28 etc.)

  • In VHF, moire on some channels (channel 27). Picture becomes ok with programme/channel switching.
  • Screen becomes dark for approx 1-4 hours after going into SERVICE mode. (706400 tips)
  • Changing channel raster for multistandard TVs or TVs modified to L-standard which have to be connected to a French cable network system (CCE II channels).
  • No functions. No display. (picture attached)
  • No function - no memory. If you input channel directly and then store the function with "M" then all settings disappear. Sound is very loud. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Remains in standby when using mains switch. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • Numerical adjustment of phase and line frequency on multistandard and modified models.
  • Remains in PAL. (706400 tips)
  • For repair works, the set must not switch off 10 minutes after closedown or in case of a station breakdown. This state cannot be stored.
  • No or poor reception of high channels when connecting to a cable TV system.
  • Blue screen. Flyback lines.
  • Dead in RF. OK via scart.
  • Digital adjustment of the line frequency and the line phase in multistandard and on appliances converted to multistandard.
  • Flickering picture. after a while. (OTTOVERSAND - 706400 information)
  • Fastening of line output transformer and focus cables.
  • Bright portions are blurred on scenes with strong contrast. Loud crackling at switch off.
  • Reduced vertical and horizontal size.
  • Procedure to reduce tube afterglow point.
  • Setting of automatic standby time is lost after 10 mins without a signal. Function has to be reset after every start up.
  • Switches to standby, in spite of correct display.
  • No picture. No audio. after a while.
  • Picture approx 5cm too small on all four sides. Grinding noise from horizontal output stage. Picture disappears completely for a short time and reappears. Intermittently green picture content.
  • Sound is intermittent. Sound is available for a short while on pushing volume +.
  • In a cable system appliance should receive a French band I channel (audio carrier -6.5MHz), which is converted into a CCIR Band I channel (audio carrier +6.5MHz).
  • No picture. via tuner.
  • Horizontal noise on vertical lines on whole raster. B/W picture. Intermittent colour.
  • Sound mutes intermittently or channels switch over spontaneously.
  • Dead.
  • Adaptation of band-1 CCIR channel (+6.5MHz sound) of a reception in band 1 of a channel with L standards (-6.5MHz sound carrier).
  • No horizontal synchronisation. No vertical synchronisation. Fault occurs intermittently. .
  • Flyback lines. at top.
  • No reaction from adjustment coil L511.
