706403 / OTTOVERSAND [TV]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for 706403 / OTTOVERSAND.
List of fault symptoms:
- No sound or picture. The screen is grey and white. Slight noise in the sound.
- OSD of wake up alarm (yellow box with time of day), although this has not been programmed.
- Switches off by itself. Knock sensitive.
- No reaction from adjustment coil L511. (706403 tip from OTTOVERSAND)
- Dark screen.
- Switches to protection mode (intermittently). Display OK . (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- No HV.
- RC IR DATA PROGRAMMER IDP1 or IDP2: automatic programming mode "HP".
- Digital adjustment of the line frequency and the line phase in multistandard and on appliances converted to multistandard.
- Channels 1 to 9 are ok. Impossible to have the other channels since after 9 you go right back to channel 1.
- Bright portions are blurred on scenes with strong contrast. Loud crackling at switch off.
- Sound fails sporadically or switches to "optimum" function, particularly in bright rooms.
- Switching off the two-digit programme sites (10-29, 10-49, 10-99 depending on the individual set). Switchover using the numeric buttons will therefore become quicker. Two-digit programme sites can still be chosen with rocker switch. (706403 tip from OTTOVERSAND)
- Dead. Display OK .
- Reduced vertical and horizontal size.
- Volume varies. intermittently.

- No front panel function. RC OK.
- TDA4605 and BUZ90A blow after a few days for no apparent reason. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Changes channel by itself. Volume varies. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Goes to standby occasionally (sometimes twice in one hour or once in one month).
- After tuning a channel, when pressing M button to store, tuning is lost and screen turns grainy.
- Jagged verticals when cold.

- Unable to store colour settings.
- Flickering picture. after a while.
- In a cable system appliance should receive a French band I channel (audio carrier -6.5MHz), which is converted into a CCIR Band I channel (audio carrier +6.5MHz).

- Line oscillates.
- Remains in PAL. (service info for OTTOVERSAND -706403)
- Picture becomes white after a while and then drops out (flyback lines). Intermittently no picture at start-up.
- Line tearing. Vertical size varies.
- Dead in RF. OK via scart.
- Does not go to standby position despite correct indication in display. (with circuit diagram extract)
- No 25V with deflector disconnected. Secondary voltages ok. (picture attached)
- Black screen without picture. No picture in AV mode either. Sound OK.
- Green colour bleeding and white lines.
- After replacing the microprocessor SDA2023, A002 short circuits it. The TV operates well in scart but not in HF (dark screen). No sound. Only 2 buttons on the control panel function
- PSU pumps at switch on for a few mins. Display flashes. TV functions when warm.
- Automatic programming (HP) for dealers with the IR autoprogrammer FZ900G1. (706403 tip from OTTOVERSAND)
- Intermittent audio. (picture attached)
- Reduced vertical size. Coloured lines. at top.
- Remains in standby when using mains switch. (picture attached)
- No or poor synchronisation.
- Change over from FB30 to FB101.
- White line in top 3\4 of screen. No frame deflection.
- Front screen.
- Line transistor BU508D heats up and blows in standby. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Green picture.
- Buzz in audio.
- Dead.
- When cold frizzy picture on vertical lines and insufficient width. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Snow in picture. Patterns in picture.
- No picture. Grey screen. Brightness and contrast values are reset when ever any storing is attempted. Signal OK through SCART.

- Entry of mean values (brightness, contrast etc.).
- Jagged picture. (706403 tips)
- Sound cuts out occasionally or the appliance changes channel by itself.
- No audio. OK via SCART .
- After some time crackling in sound for a few secs then sound ok and begins to crackle again. (with circuit diagram extract)

- Slight grey flyback line, picture fading and slightly green.
- Afterglow at switch off. (with circuit diagram extract)
- After 10 minutes, does not accept commands from operating panel of RC. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Picture approx 5cm too small on all four sides. Grinding noise from horizontal output stage. Picture disappears completely for a short time and reappears. Intermittently green picture content. (OTTOVERSAND - 706403 information)
- Flyback lines. at top.

- No reception of CCIR high channels. Then receives a cable channel with French standard (display indicates "n1").

- Blank grey raster in tuner and external positions.

- To make flashing disappear while switching over channel when programming from 1 to 9.
- Excessive green. Flyback lines.
- Garbled picture with ringing.
- TV blocked in standard 0 (low range).
- Blue screen. Flyback lines.
- Severe picture distortion in IF stage.
- Horizontal white line. in the centre.
- Adaptation of band-1 CCIR channel (+6.5MHz sound) of a reception in band 1 of a channel with L standards (-6.5MHz sound carrier).
- Picture just rustles.
- No AV operation via scart. Tuner operation ok.

- White bars and dots on picture when Canal Plus is encrypted. Picture OK in clear.
- Black screen.
- Changing channels or volume goes up by itself. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- No reception of the CCIR high channels.
- Intermittently blue raster, flashing black line then blank raster.
- Switches over by itself. Volume varies. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Very fine black lines over the picture. Very slight motor boating noise in the sound.
- Incorrect channel raster or standard. Channels shift.
- No function - no memory. If you input channel directly and then store the function with "M" then all settings disappear. Sound is very loud. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- No picture. No audio. after a while.

- Numerical adjustment of phase and line frequency on multistandard and modified models.
- Sound and brightness adjustments with RC units RP6LCD and RP65LCD.
- IC790 (TEA5101A) is inoperative.
- No audio. Picture OK .
- Horizontal and vertical instability.
- Dark picture. intermittently.
- Setting of automatic standby time is lost after 10 mins without a signal. Function has to be reset after every start up.
- Green colour is missing.
- No brightness or brightness flickering after warming up. (706403 tips)
- Red colour is missing.
- Very dark picture. Only 2 colours, pale blue and green dominance. Picture content horizontally torn and fade.
- Fastening of line output transformer and focus cables.
- Vertical size varies. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Changing channel raster for multistandard TVs or TVs modified to L-standard which have to be connected to a French cable network system (CCE II channels).
- No horizontal synchronisation. No vertical synchronisation. Fault occurs intermittently. . (706403 tip from OTTOVERSAND)
- No or poor reception of high channels when connecting to a cable TV system.
- Volume and brightness control with RC units RP6LCD and RP65LCD.
- Sound is missing or picture is black/white on individual program sites.
- Sound turns up and down at times. (706403 tips)

- No display. PSU chirps.
- Starts up with "AV".
- General information.
- No tuning. Only one channel appears, otherwise only snow.
- Intermittently line locking, occasionally with no vertical sync.
- Vertical lines at the left edge of the picture in position "AV".
- No picture or picture amplitude is too reduced and can not be adjusted.
- Channels drift off tune (for ex. K60 = K66, K32 = 28 etc.)

- Sound is intermittent. Sound is available for a short while on pushing volume +.
- For repair works, the set must not switch off 10 minutes after closedown or in case of a station breakdown. This state cannot be stored.
- No picture. Audio OK . Arcing.
- Loud crackling at switch off.

- Dim picture and fading colours.
- TXT VT5305TF on mono chassis: change of TP621 for TP661 with its TXT control panel.
- No synchronisation.
- Single digit channel display from 1-9.
- No red. If 3 resistors (1K5) unplugged from tube input and blue one connected on green one then picture is green; if blue one connected on red one then picture is black.
- Does not switch to standby. intermittently.
- Channel indication does not match channel. Channels appear as if they have been shuffled.
- Blurry picture. Colour bleeding.
- No picture. via tuner.
- Switches automatically to program site AV instead of program site 1 after switch on. (706403 tips)
- In PIP to change small picture position in the corners and frame.
- No reception on any channel. Memory not operating.
- Switches to standby, in spite of correct display.
- Sound adjustment varies at low volume. (picture attached)
- Loud sound. Bright picture. Adjustment values of the picture and sound cannot be memorized.

- No blue. The collector voltage on T781 is 47V. It increases to the same potential as the other two transistors when the tube support chroma board connector is disconnected. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Intermittent RC or RC ok after switching off for a rather long period of time. (picture attached)
- Screen becomes dark for approx 1-4 hours after going into SERVICE mode.
- Streak on video (almost inverted), faded picture even in fast switching.
- Colour output stage ICs fail repeatedly.
- Procedure to reduce tube afterglow point.
- Logo displayed for a short time when changing channels, display is constant, display fault.

- Sound cuts out intermittently or appliance changes channel by itself.
- Transistor T572 is destroyed over and over. Either at switch over to another program, or after longer run length.

- Each time the TV is switched on, it goes into AV. You are forced to increase the channels and the sound is too low, it increases very slowly.
- Volume control is erratic in lower control range.
- In VHF, moire on some channels (channel 27). Picture becomes ok with programme/channel switching.
- Vertical picture, vibrating (lines).
- Stuck on a channel.

- When switching channels the "momentary" channel display remains on.
- Screen is lit and fuzzy, no sound, no keyboard. Display indicates U with a point on the right.

- Channel names appear continuously or not at all.

- Start up in "AV", (1AV).
- 80% snow on screen.
- Picture is saturated in red with blue colour bleeding when eliminating colour using RC. If screen is red, picture contents are blurred.

- Crackling audio.

- No P/C key function.
- The colour output stage ICs fail repeatedly.
- Does not respond to standby key on RC. All other commands are OK.
- Procedure to obtain optimum tube heating voltage.

- R531 blown at switch on.
- PSU pulsates.
- Station name - (station contraction -) OSD: without/a short time after each programme change/permanent.
- Sound mutes intermittently or channels switch over spontaneously.
