706404 / OTTOVERSAND [TV]

List of fault symptoms:
- No AV operation via scart. Tuner operation ok. (706404 tips)

- Reduced vertical and horizontal size.
- Poor synchronisation. OK when timing is on and via scart.

- Vertical picture, vibrating (lines).
- No red. Faded picture when pot G2 or focus pressed. Convergence fault. Signals between input and output on picture tube socket are ok.
- RCU does not function with Teletext.
- When switching channels the "momentary" channel display remains on.

- In PIP to change small picture position in the corners and frame.

- Procedure to obtain optimum tube heating voltage.
- Line in top third of picture. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Green colour is missing.
- When cold frizzy picture on vertical lines and insufficient width. (picture attached)
- Bad noise and altered HT signal. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- No audio. Picture OK .
- No function - no memory. If you input channel directly and then store the function with "M" then all settings disappear. Sound is very loud. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Jagged picture.
- Transistor T572 is destroyed over and over. Either at switch over to another program, or after longer run length. (706404 tip from OTTOVERSAND)

- Transistor T644/BUZ90A fails immediately at switch on. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Switches to standby (intermittently). (picture attached)
- White bars and dots on picture when Canal Plus is encrypted. Picture OK in clear.
- Snow in picture. Patterns in picture.
- No red. If 3 resistors (1K5) unplugged from tube input and blue one connected on green one then picture is green; if blue one connected on red one then picture is black.
- No synchronisation.
- Switching off the two-digit programme sites (10-29, 10-49, 10-99 depending on the individual set). Switchover using the numeric buttons will therefore become quicker. Two-digit programme sites can still be chosen with rocker switch. (706404 OTTOVERSAND repair tip)
- Severe picture distortion in IF stage.
- Stuck on a channel.

- Intermittently blue raster, flashing black line then blank raster. (706404 tips)
- White flyback lines appear in the top part of the screen. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Does not respond to standby key on RC. All other commands are OK.
- OSD of wake up alarm (yellow box with time of day), although this has not been programmed.
- Picture is completely blurred and striations. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Changing over to the differing French cable channel raster.
- Each time the TV is switched on, it goes into AV. You are forced to increase the channels and the sound is too low, it increases very slowly.
- Screen is lit and fuzzy, no sound, no keyboard. Display indicates U with a point on the right.
- No display. PSU chirps.
- No blue. The collector voltage on T781 is 47V. It increases to the same potential as the other two transistors when the tube support chroma board connector is disconnected. (part of circuit diagram displayed)

- No sound or picture. The screen is grey and white. Slight noise in the sound.
- Switches off by itself. Knock sensitive.
- No picture. No audio. after a while.
- 80% snow on screen.
- Horizontal white line. in the centre.
- Remains in PAL.
- Single digit channel display from 1-9.
- Green colour bleeding and white lines.
- Goes to standby occasionally (sometimes twice in one hour or once in one month).

- In VHF, moire on some channels (channel 27). Picture becomes ok with programme/channel switching.
- When switching channels the "momentary" channel display remains on.
- General information.
- Red colour is missing.
- PSU pumps at switch on for a few mins. Display flashes. TV functions when warm.
- No Teletext or only wrong characters on the screen with certain stations.
- Logo displayed for a short time when changing channels, display is constant, display fault.
- Changing channel raster for multistandard TVs or TVs modified to L-standard which have to be connected to a French cable network system (CCE II channels). (706404 tips)
- Sound cuts out intermittently or appliance changes channel by itself.
- Numerical adjustment of phase and line frequency on multistandard and modified models.
- Switches to standby, in spite of correct display.
- Blurry picture. Colour bleeding.
- No tuning. Only one channel appears, otherwise only snow.
- Sound adjustment varies at low volume. (picture attached)
- Screen becomes dark for approx 1-4 hours after going into SERVICE mode.
- Volume and brightness control with RC units RP6LCD and RP65LCD.
- RC IR DATA PROGRAMMER IDP1 or IDP2: automatic programming mode "HP".
- Dark screen.

- Sound mutes intermittently or channels switch over spontaneously.

- No picture or picture amplitude is too reduced and can not be adjusted.

- Picture becomes white after a while and then drops out (flyback lines). Intermittently no picture at start-up.
- Black screen.
- TDA4605 and BUZ90A blow after a few days for no apparent reason. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Volume varies. intermittently.
- Streak on video (almost inverted), faded picture even in fast switching.
- Does not switch to AV. Display present.
- No HV.
- Crackling audio.
- The colour output stage ICs fail repeatedly.
- Dead.
- Adaptation of band-1 CCIR channel (+6.5MHz sound) of a reception in band 1 of a channel with L standards (-6.5MHz sound carrier).
- Blank grey raster in tuner and external positions.
- Channels drift off tune (for ex. K60 = K66, K32 = 28 etc.)
- Green picture.
- Very fine black lines over the picture. Very slight motor boating noise in the sound.
- No or poor reception of high channels when connecting to a cable TV system.
- Incorrect channel raster or standard. Channels shift.
- No audio. OK via SCART .
- Appliance switches off in intervals which are constantly decreasing. After complete discharge the appliance runs for approx 90 mins then switches into standby, after repeated switching on approx 2-3 mins operating time.
- Line oscillates.
- No 25V with deflector disconnected. Secondary voltages ok. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Sound fails sporadically or switches to "optimum" function, particularly in bright rooms.
- No reception of CCIR high channels. Then receives a cable channel with French standard (display indicates "n1").
- Colour output stage ICs fail repeatedly.

- After tuning a channel, when pressing M button to store, tuning is lost and screen turns grainy.
- Horizontal and vertical instability.
- Loud sound. Bright picture. Adjustment values of the picture and sound cannot be memorized. (OTTOVERSAND - 706404 information)
- Volume control is erratic in lower control range.

- Digital adjustment of the line frequency and the line phase in multistandard and on appliances converted to multistandard.
- Fastening of line output transformer and focus cables.
- Garbled picture with ringing.

- Change over from FB30 to FB101.

- To make flashing disappear while switching over channel when programming from 1 to 9.

- Unable to store colour settings.
- In a cable system appliance should receive a French band I channel (audio carrier -6.5MHz), which is converted into a CCIR Band I channel (audio carrier +6.5MHz).

- Buzz in audio.
- No horizontal synchronisation. No vertical synchronisation. Fault occurs intermittently. .

- Front screen.
- Very dark picture. Only 2 colours, pale blue and green dominance. Picture content horizontally torn and fade.
- For repair works, the set must not switch off 10 minutes after closedown or in case of a station breakdown. This state cannot be stored.
- No P/C key function.

- Line transistor BU508D heats up and blows in standby. (picture attached)
- Automatic programming (HP) for dealers with the IR autoprogrammer FZ900G1.

- Channel indication does not match channel. Channels appear as if they have been shuffled.

- Picture is saturated in red with blue colour bleeding when eliminating colour using RC. If screen is red, picture contents are blurred.

- Switches automatically to program site AV instead of program site 1 after switch on.
- Switches to standby (after start-up).
- No or poor synchronisation.
- Programming a set using the programmer HTP89.
- Setting of automatic standby time is lost after 10 mins without a signal. Function has to be reset after every start up.
- Sound cuts out occasionally or the appliance changes channel by itself.
- Picture approx 5cm too small on all four sides. Grinding noise from horizontal output stage. Picture disappears completely for a short time and reappears. Intermittently green picture content.
- Sound turns up and down at times.

- Channels 1 to 9 are ok. Impossible to have the other channels since after 9 you go right back to channel 1.
- Black screen without picture. No picture in AV mode either. Sound OK.

- No reaction from adjustment coil L511.
- Picture just rustles.
- Intermittently line locking, occasionally with no vertical sync.

- After replacing the microprocessor SDA2023, A002 short circuits it. The TV operates well in scart but not in HF (dark screen). No sound. Only 2 buttons on the control panel function
- Input of averages at memory loss of analogue values.

- Canal Plus pumps with Syster.
- Starts up with "AV".
- PSU pulsates.
