KVE2911D / OTTOVERSAND [TV]

The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers supplies the following faults for KVE2911D / OTTOVERSAND.

List of fault symptoms:
  • No colour.
  • RC unit.
  • Flashing horizontal black lines. Occasionally appliance may function OK.
  • Channels drift during first 5 mins (not on all channels).

  • Picture & sound going off tune, looks like tuner/IF fault.
  • Nicam fault.
  • OSD is not locked onto the line.
  • Distorted sound and long lapse of time before the picture appears.
  • CTV fails, also no LED's.
  • Very intermittent faults such as nicam sound dropping out or crackling, the set going off tune or the picture going dark or negative.
  • No picture. Audio OK .
  • Reduced vertical size. (KVE2911D tip from OTTOVERSAND)

  • Colour impure. PTC OK.
  • Vertical foldover.
  • Dead power supply, tries to start and makes a tripping noise. (KVE2911D OTTOVERSAND repair tip)
  • Approx. 5cm wide yellow vertical line in picture.
  • Does not turn on. LEDs flash.
  • Does not start up. LED flashes at random.
  • OSD distorted. Flashing picture and plopping sound.
  • Service information. When stocks of 21", 25" and 29" crt's are exhausted, they will be replaced by an itc, comprising CRT + scan yoke.
  • 2SD1548 fails repeatedly.
  • Picture changes size.
  • Intermittent tuning memory problem. Tuning jumps to adjacent channel if the set is turned on when there is no carrier on that channel.
  • RC unit.
  • Vertical jitter. (service info for OTTOVERSAND -KVE2911D)
  • FBT starts up for a sec.
  • No sound. No RC function. Picture size varies according to brightness but improves as appliance warms up.
  • Linearity in the lower portion of the picture is incorrect.
  • Purity fault on left and right sides.
  • Vertical collapse. intermittently.
  • Smearing in picture. intermittently. (KVE2911D tips)

  • If dry joint or chopper short circuit.
  • No signals, no raster and the digital channel display fading or pulsating.
  • Picture appears slowly. Volume varies. (KVE2911D OTTOVERSAND repair tip)
  • Sound is lost from cold; returning with distortion after ten mins.

  • When Nicam broadcast received, sometimes returns to mono, analogue sound and no Nicam lights on.
  • Vertical sync frequency measures 42Hz with signal available. If aerial signal is removed frequency measures 50Hz.
  • Picture noise. A boomerang-shaped noise component is superimposed on the picture.
  • Black screen (intermittently). Audio OK .
  • Service information. When stocks of 21", 25" and 29" crt's are exhausted, they will be replaced by an itc, comprising CRT + scan yoke.
  • Flickering picture caused by excessive brightness.
  • Purity error when switching. Purity errors on screen after initial switch on.
  • No power in audio amplification.
  • Picture runs through by bright picture content. (KVE2911D OTTOVERSAND repair tip)
  • E/W raster.
  • Intermittent tuning memory problem. Tuning jumps to adjacent channel if the set is turned on when there is no carrier on that channel.
  • Vertical fault. Distorted picture.
  • Linearity at the top of the picture is poor.
  • Dead.
  • Shuts down. intermittently.
  • Low sound when volume is adjusted to maximum.
  • Stereo indicator on some mono stations together with rattling.
  • Incorrect tuning or goes to muting.
  • Cramped at top, foldover at bottom.
  • Contrast too low in certain modes. A dark picture is displayed in the rgb mode.
  • It takes some minutes for picture to appear. Low sound when picture appears.
  • Low width with picture showing third of screen.
  • No function, only the stereo-indication burns dimly.
  • Intermittently NICAM sound crackles.
  • Intermittent hissing sound.
  • Tuning drifts. Searches for channels continuously.

  • Low sound with max. volume adjustment.
  • Temporarily noisy audio.
  • No subtitles with the "Subtitles for the hard of hearing" decoder. (service info for OTTOVERSAND -KVE2911D)
  • At start up picture is black and white.
  • There is a mono/stereo identifiation problem when receiving a stereo transmission (PAL B/G).
  • Black screen. Standby LED flashes .
  • No vertical synchronisation (intermittently).
  • Service information. When stocks of 21", 25" and 29" crt's are exhausted, they will be replaced by an itc, comprising CRT + scan yoke.
  • RC unit.
  • Switches off by itself.
  • No audio.
  • Intermittent tuning memory problem. Tuning jumps to adjacent channel if the set is turned on when there is no carrier on that channel.
  • Sound takes more than a minute to arrive.
  • Dead. Stereo indication is faintly lit.
  • Service information. The original tuner (U944PLL) used in the UK models has been replaced by the tuner U944C.
  • No functions.
  • Approx. 5mm vertical line through the picture. (KVE2911D tips)
  • Tuning drifts (intermittently).
  • The white balance varies when changing the colour intensity.
  • Poor sound. Sound ok after changing amplifier and the two JC501 but occasionally it drifts even in scart.
  • Intermittent noise in sound.
  • Poor linearity or geometry. Frame linearity fault. Usually only occurs in sets which are more than two years old.
  • Dead. Standby light flashing. EHT static on screen.
  • Programs drop out.
  • Sound cracks on start-up.
  • Poor vertical linearity.
  • Channels change at random.
  • Intermittent crackle on NICAM plus loss of picture.

  • Vertical linearity fault in upper picture third after delay time.
  • No RC function. No sound. Picture size varies according to brightness but improves as appliance warms up.
  • Sound increases to maximum on one single track as well as on the volume display.

  • Distorted audio. Audio distortion, particularly on line input.

  • How to program basic values.
  • Picture ok for 5 mins, then in black and white.
  • No power on AC. The majority of flyback transformers changed are not faulty.
  • The STEREO indicator intermittently switches on in mono channels. This is accompanied with rattle/noise from one channel.
  • Intermittent colour.
  • Switches automatically from channel 8 to channel 55 after a few secs.
  • Sync problem. Vertical sync may be disturbed when a bright picture is connected to the front Y/C input.
  • Distorted audio. Audio distortion, particularly on line input.
  • Tuning drifts.
  • No picture. No raster.
  • Switches in irregular intervals. Ok after switching off the appliance.
  • Sound mutes shortly after switching on. (service info for OTTOVERSAND -KVE2911D)
  • Average values adjustment.
  • Reduced horizontal size. E/W fault.
  • When in NICAM appliance switches to mono intermittently.
  • Sound is poor and nasal. Volume varies. Occasionally no sound.
  • Incorrect vertical linearity. Top third of picture is compressed and bottom part has foldover.
  • Purity error when switching. Purity errors on screen after initial switch on. (KVE2911D tips)
  • No vertical synchronisation.
  • G2 resistor, R807 (1K/1W), is O/C.
  • Dark picture.
  • Sound is low by maximum volume via RF and scart.
  • The STEREO indicator intermittently switches on in mono channels. This is accompanied with rattle/noise from one channel.
  • No picture. No audio.
  • Distorted audio.
  • When the channel signal disappears, the AFT searches for the next signal. This new frequency will then be stored in memory.
  • Disturbed reception, intermittent snow.
  • Switches off after 15 to 30 mins but after a stop of 5 to 10 mins then restarts.
  • When the channel signal disappears, the AFT will search for the next signal. This new frequency will then be stored in memory.
  • Field cramped.
  • Dead. Standby LED flashes .
  • Defective muting.
  • Primary PSU starts up but secondary voltages are slightly low and LEDs flicker.
  • Fuse PS201 O/C.
  • Picture appears only after 5 mins. No OSD. Sound OK.
  • RC unit.
  • Weak and noisy sound through SCART and aerial. Occasionally sound returns OK.
  • Pincushion distortion.
  • The screen is very dark or black. (KVE2911D tip from OTTOVERSAND)
  • Power problem intermittently. At switch on the red power supply lamp may light up but the power supply may sometimes trip as in overcurrent detection.
  • No RC functions.
  • Purity fault on both sides. (KVE2911D tips)
  • Sound is lost or distorted. (KVE2911D OTTOVERSAND repair tip)
  • No picture (intermittently). (KVE2911D OTTOVERSAND repair tip)
  • Background noise with signal.
  • Buzz in sound when switched on for a few mins. Present during channel selection.
  • Intermittent crackle on NICAM plus loss of picture.
  • Maybe no on screen display. Picture disappears.
  • Intermittent loss of picture with occasional loss of OSG.
  • Intermittent unstable picture. Picture rolling on peak whites and camera change, also the same via scart input.
