TXC81 / OTTOVERSAND [TV]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers

List of fault symptoms:
- Vertical collapse. (with circuit diagram extract)

- The sound is normal but only a poor washed out picture, i.e. no contrast. The picture can sometimes hardly be seen, consisting of just a slight movement of shaded greys on the raster. Or the screen might be completely blanked out. (+ extract of circuit diagram)

- One colour missing.
- One colour high.
- Horizontal lines. Unstable picture.
- Q551 running very hot and blowing R567 after approx. 4hrs. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Chirping. Display OK .
- Cuts out when warm. Works well without the cabinet.

- Defective or erratic oscillating colours.
- Raster is blank, video, sound and display are missing and no remote control response. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Distorted picture and poor synchronization via SCART. No colour via tuner.
- Cannot be switched properly to standby, sound muted after pressing standby key on RC, programme display disappears and standby LED lit, picture still present.

- Low audio from right hand side loud speaker. Crackling scart socket.
- No light (Y signal) in reception via tuner nor via SCART input. TXT and OSD OK.
- No STEREO sound.
- No sound and picture. Channel switch over OK.
- Hum, crackling, and other secondary noises via headphones and loudspeaker with high volume and volume "0".
- No horizontal oscillation signal. Whistle from PSU often.

- Set operated perfectly for an hour, then the sound would mute and controls wouldn't work. (picture attached)
- No colour sync. (TXC81 tips)

- Power supply hissing for approx 3 secs at start up and goes to safety mode. Programme display visible all the time.

- Line transistor BU508D fails again straight away immediately after switch on. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Coloured bars across screen. (picture attached)
- Power supply overloaded and squealing.
- Red picture with flyback lines.
- White lines on top of screen.
- Vertical stripes like strings of pearls in picture.
- Resistor R802 always blows. (picture attached)
- LED briefly lit after switch on, then progr. 1 or 2 starts. No other entries possible. No picture and no sound.
- No picture. Flyback lines. No audio. Raster OK .
- Tries to switch on for 1 sec and then stops. LED and channel no. remain lit. (+ extract of circuit diagram) (TXC81 tips)
- Poor picture. Low contrast. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- After approx 1 hour the picture becomes approx 3cm too small at the right edge.
- Faint line down right hand side of screen. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Power supply starts up, pulsates 3-4 times and then goes into standby
- Line output stage transistor fails after a while.
- Picture full with stripes, when adjusting the horizontal size the fault disappears.
- No vertical synchronisation.

- After turning on the set goes to standby but the LED will not light. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- No channel tuning after channel 36. A horizontal bar runs through on the picture then search continues. Tunes the channels below channel 36.
- Intermittent colour and saturation is low. (picture attached)

- Text fault. Channel flag is present and stable, but there are no bar graphs for colour, sound etc. When the set is switched to the teletext mix mode, a perfect text display is produced. (part of circuit diagram displayed)

- No picture. No sound. Standby LED lights up. If switched on with the RC, channel display appears and can be switched over.

- Distorted audio from left hand channel.
- TV starts up, EHT starts up then cuts out. Channel display remains.

- Foldover at top and picture vibrates.
- Line BU fails at irregular intervals.
- No start-up. LED blinks .
- No blue.

- Picture is shifted inwards at the right side. Fault occurs after approx 15 mins.

- Q551 fails again after a short time.

- Strong chirping after switch on. No channel appears.

- Appliance blocks occasionally, all basic values are set to minimum, all additional displays (stereo, three-dimensional sound etc.) light up. If the main switch is switched off then on again then everything is ok. (OTTOVERSAND - TXC81 information)
