PRD800 / PACE [Sat receiver (analogue)]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for PRD800 / PACE.
List of fault symptoms:
- Timer loses up to 45 seconds each week.
- Main MENU OSG is missing.
- Faulty on screen graphics.
- Blue screen. intermittently.
- Satellite picture rolls.
- Decoding does not function and white horizontal lines approximately 1cm apart are present across the screen.
- Wavy horizontal lines travelling up and down screen. Worse from RF output when horizontal (17V) polarised channel is selected.
- Picture streaks, varies with contrast level only on RF - scart connection ok.
- Silky lines across screen.
- Speckles on screen and occasional "please wait" messages and then will not decode video-crypt programs.
- Loop-through gain is poor, UHF signal strength is poor making snowy picture.
- RCU does not function or is unstable, transmitter ok.
- No picture with a UHF connection, OK with scart connection.
- Diagonal lines across screen. (PACE - PRD800 information)
- No raster, sound or menus; display OK.
- Pulling captions and poor streaky picture, OK on scart.
- No modulator picture.
- When bright colours are shown on video-crypt encoded channels, sparkles or patterns appear.
- Shuts down and reverts to standby when channels changed.
- Distorted audio.
- No vertical or horizontal switching.
- At switch on horizontal bars are present (Venetian blind effect), disappears when channels are changed.
- Will not decrypt scrambled channels.
- Horizontal lines. Streaks shadowing picture highlights. (PRD800 tips)
- LNB supply will not change polarity.
- No decoder, no messages, blank screen with channel idents rolling.
- Blank raster.
- Intermittently video signals disappear, audio not affected.
- No LNB or other strange functions.
- Dark horizontal lines in peak white areas that move with picture; constant and unmoving on menu; not present on Scart output.
- No picture or sound via UHF output; OK via scart output.
- No picture via TV/VCR scarts of UHF modulator. Picture via baseband scart to external decoder OK.
- PSU ticking.
- Incorrect P mode stored in receiver.
- No picture, just 2 sections of display lit. (service info for PACE -PRD800)
- Tuning drifts.
- Intermittently pace dish positioner shows incorrect satellite position number.
- Black screen, no graphics, sound ok.
- Whistles then goes dead.
- Snowy picture. Otherwise OK.
- TV picture on VCR PLAY using VCR loop through satellite receiver has video overload.
- No picture (intermittently). (PRD800 tips)
- Dead, mains input socket possibly arcing resembling interference then goes completely dead.
- Characters or dots show up at random.
- Appliance remains in standby, no channels displayed, very unstable.
- Blank screen (intermittently).
- Encrypted channels suddenly scrambled.
- No vertical polarisation and or abnormal coloured menu backgrounds. (PRD800 PACE repair tip)
- Waves on the beach effect on pictures viewed through modulator
- Incorrect frequency in the tuning menu.
- No horizontal signals.
- Decoder drops out intermittently.
- No decoder operation.
- 5V rail high.
- Dim picture when RF output is used.
- Picture is missing just a blue screen, can be intermittent. Sound ok.
- Intermittently picture and sound disappear, no RC operation.
- Intermittently lines appear on picture.
- No OSG and microcontroller chip will not reset.
- No operation (intermittently).
- Soft white horizontal; moving lines across picture.
- "Card invalid" in display. (PRD800 PACE repair tip)
- Grainy terrestrial TV pictures.
- Cannot tune into any channels.
- "Card Invalid" message on screen.
- Intermittent horizontal flashing lines when warm.
- Tuning defective. Mauve menu background.
- "Radio" displayed on screen.
- Horizontal lines on picture when cold.
- No colour in menu.
- No decoder messages. Two grey bars at top left corner of scrambled picture.
- Intermittent blue screen. Sound OK. (PRD800 tips)
- Very low contrast on UHF output only.
- Streaky pictures.
- Poor picture.
- No audio.
- Tuning fault.
- Venetial blind interference. (PRD800 PACE repair tip)
- Shadowy black bars going up screen.
- Loss of audio, intermittent when receiver is first plugged in and permanent when unit has warmed up.
- Chopper blows after kit has been fitted.
- Only tunes to certain level.
- TV picture interference on UHF band bottom end channels in fringe reception areas. Could show as wavy diagonal line.
- Intermittent/loss decode/graphics.
- No picture via RF or scart. Changes channels and channel LEDs light up.
- Power fault.
- No response using RC, just blue screen.
- Poor contrast. No decoder messages unless contrast set at 8.
- Menu is not displayed. No channel ID.
- Timer gains up to 45 seconds each week.
- White smearing on blue screen when display figures showing via RF only. Scart OK. (PRD800 PACE repair tip)
- Decoded pictures are streaky.
- Picture flickers. No decoder messages.
- No video output, scart signal ok, faint picture on CH69.
- Intermittent whine.
- No decoder messages. Scrambled picture with two grey bars top left hand corner. (PRD800 PACE repair tip)
- Slow start up. No decoder messages. Picture flickers.
- Severe lines on picture.
- Video signals intermittently disappear, sound OK.
- Very loud whistling sound.
- Flickering picture.
- Does not change polarisation.
- Not decoding. No messages after warm up.
- No signal, no LNB supply.
- No LNB volt.
- No LNB, blank screen.
- Picture breaks up, decoder drops in and out and contrast goes up and down.
- No functions. Top left LED segment flashes rapidly.
- Blue screen, no sound when signal applied.
- Blue screen.
- Black bars on white scree.
- Intermittent RC function.
- No picture after 30 mins, only when cabinet fully assembled.
- No picture from modulator.
- Upside-down F in display.
- TV speaker produces high pitched whine. (PRD800 PACE repair tip)
- Dead.
- Background whistle on sound.
- Whine or high pitched buzzing on background sound which can be heard during quiet scenes. (NOTE: Only PCBs 182-0190203 (Rev B3) or earlier).
- Slight wobble and horizontal streaks on sections of red colours.
- Insufficient picture with patterning and black diagonal lines.
- Fails PAT test.
- Blank or very dull picture.
- Multiple ringing on picture.
- All voltages are slightly too high.
- OSG are lost intermittently, channels display ok.
- Scrambled picture and no decoder message when warm.
- No picture but ok through scart socket.
- Polarization setting in menu not selecting horizontal/vertical, selects skew instead.
- Negative picture.
- Low or no HV. (service info for PACE -PRD800)
- Lace curtain effect on encrypted channels, dull picture with clear channels. Does not decode, no messages. (service info for PACE -PRD800)
- Herringbone pattern, especially on channels above 11. (PACE - PRD800 information)
- When operating via UHF output, there are narrow diagonal lines over the picture.
- Swirling picture.
- Interference and arcing from SK1.
- Reset to factory defaults.
- Sound is distorted especially on peak sound on some channels.
- Low RF signal loopthrough.
- PSU hisses, buzzes.
- Floating diagonal lines across picture.
- Not decoding and no decoder messages.
- RC inoperative.
- Intermittently Card invalid message appears.
- Receiver switches off for a few seconds after channels have been changed rapidly.
- Turning blue background on/off.
- Does not tune in any stations and has Sky One on every channel with vertical polarisation.
- Encrypted channels scramble.
- "888" in display.
- Bright white Video-Crypt decoder message bars with no text. Decoder OK.
- Intermittent RF output.
- After warm-up picture disappears
- No remote response when warm.
- Low gain via modulator.
- Rippling saturated colour on encryted signals.
- No picture, no audio, after a short time.
- To unlock parental lock without PIN.
- When warm video output from tuner is lost.
- LNB voltage permanently high.
- Decoding does not function and no decoder graphics.
- Blown fuse. (PRD800 tip from PACE)
- Bright colours are mottled.
- Shadowed horizontal bars up the screen.
- Failed LNB volts. (PRD800 PACE repair tip)
- Video-crypt decoder stops working. No decoder messages or "Please Wait" flashes intermittently after warm up.
- Screen turns blue when warm, effects some channels only.
- Picture and sound are missing, screen is blue, could be intermittent.
- Faint horizontal lines. OK when Sky card removed.
- No picture after approx 10 mins. Audio OK.
- Poor superimposed OSG. Excessively high contrast level.
- Appliance starts up slowly, occasionally beeps to start with.
- No functions. Two bars lit in LED display.
- Power supply whistles very loudly.
- Horizontal lines across picture.
- "Card invalid" displayed only when card inserted.
- Slight herringbone pattern when used via UHF modulator in mono Panda audio mode (mono 2-9) is selected.
- Encrypted channels cannot be decoded, could be intermittent.
- Blue screen, no sound when signal applied.
- At switch on, poor picture and low luminance.
- Incorrect P mode stored in receiver, 2 or 3 numbers needed for single numbered channel.
- No encrypted channels or on screen messages.
- Power supply failure.
- UHF output stuck, does not tune in. (PRD800 tip from PACE)
- No decoder messages.
- Noisy signals and no on-screen messages during 'pay' channels; menu OK.
- Only noise.
- Stuck in standby. One bar in middle of display lit.
- Blue video mute operating and distorted sound.
- Intermittent reception of horizontally polarised channels with slight patterning.
- No OSD. (PRD800 PACE repair tip)
- Dead or trips.
- Blown power supply.
- Interference on terrestrial TV pictures.
- Wrong PCB component indent.
- Same programme appears on every channel, the receiver would not tune.
- When satellite receiver is in standby and VCR in PLAY the VCR loop-through via scart socket is missing.
- One polarity only, but voltage switches (between 19V and 24V).
- Does not power up.
- No decoder graphics.
- Severe horizontal lines around 1,750-1,800mHz frequency leaving hardly any trace of a picture. (PRD800 PACE repair tip)
- Power supply ticks, LED segment flashing.
- Q100 has failed.
- No display.
- No synchronisation. (PACE - PRD800 information)
- Power supply tripping, maybe intermittent.
- Distorted menu titles when warm.
- Video is missing and raster blue, sound ok.
- Switches to standby (intermittently).
- Tearing or rippling on some Video-Crypt encoded channels.
- No RF Satellite signals.
- Picture has a vertical bar moving across the screen from left to right and decoded channels also have horizontal streaks.
- No picture.
- Decoded pictures break up with horizontal flashing in picture or picture disappears all together. Non decoded pictures OK.
- Hum in audio.
- Channels jump after RC is used.
- No I/R remote operation.
- PSU ticks. Top left segments of LED display flash.
- Video output from UHF modulator comes and goes, reception ok from scart socket.
- Whistling.
- No RF signal.
- Only decodes Sky One.
- Channel numbers, display and menu appear for couple of seconds when selected but tear.
