PRD900 / PACE [Sat receiver (analogue)]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for PRD900 / PACE.
List of fault symptoms:
- Video output from UHF modulator comes and goes intermittently.
- Restore factory settings.
- Insufficient picture with patterning and black diagonal lines.
- Encrypted channels suddenly scrambled.
- When on screen menu is selected there is noise on screen.
- No decoding or decoder messages.
- Blank screen (intermittently).
- After some time, low howl starts from one channel and spreading to other channels followed by crackling. Tuner then goes low gain, spots appear and crypted channels do not decode.
- Picture has a vertical bar moving across the screen from left to right and decoded channels also have horizontal streaks. (PRD900 PACE repair tip)
- Appliance is dead, power supply ticking.
- Dead.
- Wavy horizontal lines travelling up and down screen. Worse from RF output when horizontal (17V) polarised channel is selected. Decoded pictures streaky.
- Dead, mains input socket could be arcing and symptoms resembling interference, then goes dead.
- Blank screen with vertical line moving across from left to right and 'Radio' displayed. Plus faint whining on all channels.
- Vertical roll.
- On encoded channels black flecks or spots are present on flesh colours.
- Picture noise and when warmed up colour is lost.
- Whistles but does not light up.
- Horizontal lines drift up and down picture on horizontal polarised channels through RF output only.
- Blown power supply.
- PSU hisses, buzzes.
- Factory reset.
- Failed LNB volts.
- Incorrect frequency in the tuning menu.
- Not changing between horizontal and vertical channels.
- Does not unscramble signals and no on-screen messages to insert card. Sound and picture fine.
- No picture, no audio, after a short time.
- "Card Invalid" is displayed before the card has been put in.
- Power supply tripping, maybe intermittent.
- All voltages are slightly too high.
- Picture and sound are missing, just a blue screen. Possibly intermittent.
- No I/R remote operation.
- Will not tune to MTV or Eurosport.
- At switch on, poor picture and low luminance.
- White smearing on blue screen when display figures showing.
- Hum in audio.
- Not decoding. No messages after warm up. (PRD900 tips)
- Distorted menu titles when warm.
- Soft white horizontal; moving lines across picture.
- No audio.
- Low RF signal loopthrough.
- Flickering OSG and jittering on Video-Crypt.
- Silky lines across screen.
- Polarization setting in menu not selecting horizontal/vertical, selects skew instead.
- Power supply whistling.
- No LNB, blank screen.
- Turning blue background on/off.
- Intermittently Card invalid message appears.
- No picture (intermittently).
- When card has been inserted "Card Invalid" is shown.
- Whistles.
- UHF output stuck, does not tune in.
- Interference fault, SK1 arcs. (PRD900 tip from PACE)
- No modulator picture.
- On encoded channels, sparkles are present on bright colours.
- Intermittently blue screen in REC and clock symbol flashes for approx 1 min then goes to standby.
- No unscrambling. No on screen messages.
- Video-Crypt encoded channels are not being decoded, could be intermittent.
- "888" in display.
- No Video-Crypt function, no unscrambling and no decoder messages.
- No sound or picture after power cut.
- Intermittent REC with clock symbol flashing permanently, or flashes for for short time then drops to standby. Intermittent blue screen REC.
- Blue screen. No RC, when set is warm.
- No on-screen decoder messages.
- When using external MAC decoder the MAC channels do not lock.
- Picture is missing, just a blue screen, sound ok. Possibly intermittent.
- Picture flicker, no decoding. (PRD900 tip from PACE)
- Intermittent blue screen REC. Intermittent REC with clock symbol flashing permanently, or flashes for for short time then drops to standby.
- At switch on horizontal bars are present over the picture which disappear when channels are changed.
- Rippling saturated colour on encrypted signals.
- Faint whine on audio.
- Will not decrypt scrambled channels.
- No horizontally polarised channels.
- Power supply ticking.
- Whine or high pitched buzzing on background sound which can be heard during quiet scenes. (NOTE: Only PCBs 182-0190203 (Rev B3) or earlier).
- Sound in RF mode is missing, via scart socket ok.
- Shadowed horizontal bars up the screen.
- Interference and SK1 arcs.
- No video output, scart signal ok, faint picture on CH69.
- Timer loses up to 45 seconds each week.
- Blank screen.
- Intermittently blue screen.
- LED display is missing.
- Only tunes to certain level.
- Intermittently REC with clock symbol constantly flashing on screen, or flash for 1 min then go to standby.
- Menu is not displayed. No channel ID.
- Parts of channel display do not light up.
- Decoded pictures are streaky.
- Picture intermittently scrambles on encrypted cannels with no on screen graphics. Ident/pic bounce slightly when warm.
- TV speaker produces high pitched whine.
- Sound is distorted on some channels especially on peak sound.
- No response using RC, just blue screen.
- Intermittent video via modulator.
- No aerial loop-through for terrestrial TV. Satellite signal out through modulator O/K.
- Factory reset does not take effect.
- No power on/off.
- Faulty/intermittent remote operation.
- No picture after approx 10 mins. Audio OK.
- Same programme on every channel.
- Constant blue screen.
- Black sparkles on encoded channels.
- No LNB DC supply of either polarity.
- No LNB supply.
- Receiver switches off for a few seconds after channels have been changed rapidly.
- No LNB voltage from input 1.
- Signal and LNB voltage are missing.
- No OSD after a few hours.
- No picture via modulator; scart connector OK.
- Shuts down and reverts to standby when channels changed.
- Horizontal lines across picture.
- Black screen, no graphics, sound ok.
- Field synchronisation is missing when warm, picture flashes.
- On some Video-Crypt encoded channels there is tearing or rippling which is more obvious on high saturation areas.
- No vertical or horizontal switching.
- Loop-through gain is poor, UHF signal strength is poor making snowy picture.
- No LNB supply. RC inoperative.
- Bright colours are mottled.
- When using UHF low channel numbers, diagonal interference lines move across the picture.
- Same channel number on every programme number.
- Clock symbol flashes on screen continually.
- OSG main menu is missing.
- Satellite picture rolls.
- TV picture interference on UHF band bottom end channels in fringe reception areas. Could show as a wavy diagonal line.
- Shadowy black bars going up screen.
- No RC functions. (PACE - PRD900 information)
- LNB supply will not change polarity.
- Decoding does not function.
- No remote response when warm.
- No decoder message appears on display.
- Poor superimposed OSG. Excessively high contrast level.
- Diagonal lines across screen.
- EEPROM memory courrupted.
- No remote response due to microcontroller locking up.
- Blown fuse. (PACE - PRD900 information)
- Field synchronisation is missing.
- Power supply ticks, LED segment flashing.
- Very low contrast on UHF output only.
- Tuning drifts.
- Appliance starts up slowly occasionally preceeded by beeping.
- Only noise.
- Incorrect indication of station frequency.
- Dim picture when RF output is used.
- Slight herringbone pattern when used via UHF modulator in mono Panda audio mode (mono 2-9) is selected.
