SS9000 / PACE [Sat /TV reception module]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for SS9000 / PACE.
List of fault symptoms:
- Blank raster, OSD unlocked.
- Flashing standby LED.
- Picture distorted from UHF and SCART, looks like crushed sync.
- After approximately 1 hour the picture is lost with just a snowy raster remaining.
- Blackened fuse (blasted). (PACE - SS9000 information)
- Poor picture through RF and Video scart. TV scart OK.
- One receiver appears to work but whistle from power supply and lots of radiation causing interference to many TV sets in the surrounding area. (SS9000 tip from PACE)
- Fitting instructions TE-4. (SS9000 tips)
- No signal.
- Video-Crypt decoder does not function or is intermittent.
- Board discolouration under R3 (100K/2W).
- MONO sound is missing.
- Picture is missing on Video-Crypt encoded channels usually when warm.
- No audio. No picture.
- Receiver remains in standby until it warms up then displays a sparkly picture or tuning drift.
- Appliance is dead, standby LED pulses on and off.
- On UHF bottom channels diagonal lines are present especially in fringe areas.
- Noise bars.
- Five or six diagonal lines on picture.
- Graphics roll vertically after warm up.
- Off tune. Black distorted decoder messages.
- Intermittent loss of sync.
- No picture, blank raster.
- Dead. Storm damage.
- Will not switch to vertical polarity.
- No RC functions.
- Vertical roll.
- Intermittently "Card invalid" or "Please wait" message appears.
- LEDs flash randomly then switches off.
- New season 11 card gives card invalid message sometimes.
- Decoding does not function on some channels.
- OSD's sync. drifting.
- Dead.
- Sloping lines in the picture with all programmes and on both polarisation levels.
- No messages from video-crypt decoder.
- PSU tripping, LEDs flashing.
- Picture and OSG are missing, Q27 hot, ok via decoder scart.
- In PSU BUT11 (pos.Q1) fails again and again after replacing. Appliance whistles and BUT gets very hot.
- On Video-Crypt encoded channels, dot noise is present.
- Low contrast.
- Decreased 5V.
- Unlock parental lock without using PIN.
- Swirling dashed lines on decoded channels.
- Signal via UHF modulator is missing, via scart socket ok.
- Incorrect frequency in tuning menu.
- Poor picture.
- 6.5 MHz sound (audio sound carrier) is defective.
- Faint decoder graphics.
- Faint, diagonal lines on Video-Crypt channels.
- Horizontal channels are missing.
- Restore factory settings.
- Horizontal lines over picture, ok when warmed up.
- Sound is weak or missing, could be intermittent.
- Not decoding Video-Crypt channels; all lights on front panel possibly lit plus hum on sound.
- Dimly illuminated standby LED.
- Venetian blind effect on picture.
- No sound in mono mode and only weak, hissy sound in the stereo mode.
- Appliance whistles most of the time at switch on and horizontal lines in the picture, only noticeable in cold conditions.
- Some channels are under incorrect channel number or are missing.
- Inadequate picture and tuning drift.
- No picture (intermittently).
- Low contrast. OSG unlocked and rolling.
- Factory reset at power on.
- Video-crypt graphics unlocked or drifting.
- No picture from modulator, ok on scart
- Video-Crypt is not decoding or is slow.
- Low gain.
- Flickering on satellite pictures.
- R5 overheats.
- No function,appliance remains in standby position (LED lights up).
- Ripple on picture.
- Faint humming on audio.
- TV scart out, when muted sound video content decreases and then disappears.
- Snow on screen and hiss on sound.
- LEDs flashing in sequence at switch on.
- General reset.
- "Card invalid" displayed.
- Pulsing standby LED and T2 is whistling.
- Interference on picture.
- Picture flashes at the top.
- Q1 (BUT11) in the PSU fails repeatedly after replacing. Appliance whistles and BUT gets very hot.
- Wavy or cogging effect on picture.
- Sound is missing, just a hiss, ok via scart socket.
- To unlock parental lock without using PIN. (SS9200). (SS9000 tips)
- Picture is dark, without picture- and sound information, only slight, bright picture background can be recognised.
- Tune and store channels without RCU.
- Picture is missing, OSG ok.
- Appliance is dead, faint standby LED.
- Polarity switching does not function.
- Diagonal dots on picture.
- Intermittent decoding or no decoding.
- Low gain or bad picture.
- Horizontal lines across picture, ok via decoder scart.
- Will not decode on internal decoder.
- No functions. No functions can be selected via the RC.
- Background crackling and hissing.
- Fuse blown but not black.
- Set up channels.
- Signal, video and sound are missing, LEDs are lit.
- Intermittent picture jumping when warm.
- Horizontal streaks on picture.
- Whistling in standby.
- Slight horizontal lines across picture.
- Slow switching out of standby, tuning drift.
- Vertical channels are missing.
- Noise in picture.
- Flashing picture.
- Does not power up with dish connected. Power supply previously rebuilt.
- Streaky and patterned picture.
- Loud whistling in standby and unit is dead.
- Appliance is dead, LEDs are not lit, FS1 ok.
- Appliance is dead, standby LED and timer LED light up.
- Pulsing picture and no on-screen graphics.
- Power supply hisses.
- 9V supply to tuner is low.
- Venetian blind effect in the picture (picure is poor with horizontal lines).
- Colour flashing.
- One station of every channel only; channels change but channel number remains the same.
- Waves and horizontal lines on picture, at switch on.
- Stuck in standby.
- More or less significant undulation on the picture when cold.
- No decoder messages and channel identifications roll up the screen.
- No operation with LEDs flashing in sequence.
- No picture except from decoder scart. Sound OK.
- Picture is missing and raster blank on Video-Crypt channel.
- Downloading the memory.
- Total failure of the SMPS.
- Excessive LNB voltages.
- Picture is missing, looks like tuner fault. LNB voltage ok.
- Humming on sound. (SS9000 tip from PACE)
- Picture has lines.
- Dead, standby and stereo lights lit.
- No picture via RF output. Scart output OK.
- Streaks on decoded pictures.
- Blank raster.
- Appliance is dead, remains in standby, LED is lit.
- Power supply whistles in standby.
- Streaky decoded picture.
- Looses stored channels when mains interrupted.
