NV230B / PANASONIC [Video recorder - VHS HiFi]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for NV230B / PANASONIC.
List of fault symptoms:
- Appliance does not switch from EE to playback. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Muting frequency adjustment.
- Sometimes play function fails.
- No function. The VTR switch stops functioning after approx. 5 seconds.
- Regulated +5V adjustment.
- Occasionally, no PB function.
- Artificial v-sync adjustment.
- The cassette is accepted and loaded until stop position, but then part of the tape is immediately unloaded. The appliance switches off and locks.
- AFC adjustment.
- Sometimes the capstan motor does not start.
- In special function mode, the picture moves forwards very quickly during forwards and backwards picture search.
- In special functions - CUE or REV - picture runs forward/backwards at too high speed. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Capstan motor sometimes does not start or doesn't ot wind up. Sound is missing. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Tape end switch off after rewinding only works sometimes.
- Audio bias level adjustment.
- PG shifter adjustment.
- The display is dark, all other function are ok.
- With extra functions CUE and REV search picture runs forward/backwards very quickly. (part of circuit diagram displayed)

- Sometimes no playback function.
- The appliance does not function, only the display.
- Audio PB level adjustment.
- Incorrect functions of transport section.
- In EE mode and HF recording picture and sound are distorted. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Occasionally the capstan does not synchronise (runs too fast/slow or oscillates). (picture attached)
- Head amp frequency response adjustment. (picture attached)
- During special function (forward and reverse search) the picture runs too fast. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Luminance REC current adjustment.
- Timer reset adjustment.
- No sound during E/E operation. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- The tuning goes wrong and interference lines cover a snowy picture.
- During EE the sound is missing but it is present during PB and AV. (with circuit diagram extract)

- The display is dark. All other functions are correct.
- PB chroma level adjustment.

- The loading motor over runs and will not start playing.
- Confirmation of video level and burst level adjustment.

- Black picture during playback. EE is correct.
- During recording the appliance switches occasionally to stop.
- The ACT does not read the code properly.
- Capstan sometimes does not synchronise (runs too slowly/quickly or wobbles).
- Constant droning audible during playback.
