CTV2091 / PERDIO [TV]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for CTV2091 / PERDIO.
List of fault symptoms:
- No vertical deflection. intermittently. No audio. intermittently.
- No RC functions.
- No UHF channels.
- No 90V, RP51 burns. BU807, BU508.
- Volume varies.
- At start up no line scanning or raster, TV displays PR. After approx 30 mins TV starts up.
- Power supply fuse blows. When it has been replaced, TV functions again for several days.
- At switch on when cold picture is reduced in height and width of the screen. After heating up for some time scanning becomes normal. Fault is no longer visible. You must wait until TV has cooled down sufficiently.
- Wide dark stripes on left side of picture.
- TP32 (BU508) and TL37 (BU508) fail immediately after switch on. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Black screen. Display is lit. Intermittent sound. Fault occurs both via aerial and SCART.
- Picture appears slowly.
- Poor vertical synchronisation. (CTV2091 PERDIO repair tip)
- RP02 and power supply BU blow.
- Black band on one part of the screen and interference.
- Screen blank, only RF-noise. No 0,5-30V tuning voltage at RT11. The three band switch transistors are conductive. Error may also occur only sometimes.
- No picture. Check the signal on pin 10 of IT20.
- Vertical picture position shifts intermittently upwards approx 2 cm after switch on. It is OK after approx 10 mins.
- Does not switch on. No standby.
- Unstable lines and there is an interference line at the base of TP32.
- U7 = 15V and there is no 12V voltage. A black band appears on the screen. (CTV2091 PERDIO repair tip)
- Picture width fault.
- No transmission in UHF (12V on pin 10 of the tuner connector).
- Horizontal collapse.
- Spots of colour on the screen.
- The sound and picture hum. (CTV2091 tip from PERDIO)
- No secondary voltage.
- When switching into standby mode from the remote control the appliance switches off the sound and colour. This effect also occurs with a Condor appliance.
- Programmes memory is lost once a month.
- U1 is instead of 84-90V only approx. 60V. Current consumption is over 100W.
- Power supply stops occasionally, approx after 1/2 hour (very irregular).
- Focus pot is defective.
- Both vertical and horizontal synchronization instability.
- Setting the vertical amplitude.
- Picture too small. at start-up.
- Switches to standby. after a while.
- PSU repair tip.
- When switching on BU508A and RP11 fail after 2 secs. (CTV2091 tip from PERDIO)
- No picture. No audio. No channel display.
- Poor vertical and horizontal amplitude with slight waving at sides, when cold. Everything returns to normal within 5 mins.
- High contrast.
- FBT ok at start up but dark screen except for 3 coloured lines in top third of screen. Sound and display of channels ok.
- Power supply defective.
- Picture shifted vertically.
- Shade appears behind the picture.
- Hesitant start up. Mains button must be pressed several times. If appliance runs, fails again most of the time after a few mins.
- No reception at band I, or image flickering only. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- TP32 and TP38 have a short circuit.
- Tripping.
- Start up ok. Picture and sound ok. After 15 minutes or more than one hour no picture but son ok. Horizontal white line.
- When appliance is switched on mains BU fails immediately.
- PSU inoperative.
- The power supply does not start up. No standby
- Mains switch no start up. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- When cold, no sound and no line amplitude then finally starts up.
- E/W fault.
- Replacement kit of thyristor ESM740/G1/G2.
- Excessive brightness.
- TP01 (BUT12A) fails after longer operating time
- Image compressed horizontally. Insufficient width approx 1cm on left and right of screen.
- Standby light flashes, fuse blows. RP11 and TP32, BU508 fails.
- The power supply does not start up. All transistors have been changed.
- The varicap voltage does not move.
- The picture shifts towards the bottom of the screen. (service info for PERDIO -CTV2091)
- Fuse blows constantly.
- Standby indicator flashes.
- Reluctant to start then produces a picture with reduced width.
- The linearity coil whistles.
- Line output stage doesn't start up.
- Insufficient picture width, poor lines visible on screen
- Poor display.
- No brightness. Three RGB colour bands on left and right of the screen.
- No colour.Flag-effect.
- Vertical collapse (intermittently).
- Intermittent loss of sync. Blank raster. No audio. No LEDs.
- No picture or sound. At switch on display indicates a channel but no control is possible. (CTV2091 tips)
- No colour, picture streaking.
- The appliance hums and the picture is unstable.
- Sound and picture cut out, display for 30 secs.
- Horizontal stripe (intermittently).
- Line stage does not start up.
- DP51 s/c after operating for half an hour.
- Phase comparator fault on TV. Ok on secondary.
- Blank screen.
- Is it possible to fit a TEA 2026C in place of a TEA 2026T ?
- Sound is always at max even if appliance displays volume with 00.
- DP51 heats up.
- Power supply fault.
- Power supply kit has been changed, has been working for 2 days and TP32 s/c, RP11 o/c, TL54 s/c, DL66 s/c, etc. Everything has been replaced, then no U1, U2, U3, U7, power supply transformer OK.
- Loud audio. (CTV2091 tip from PERDIO)
- The line framing is incorrect.
- Poor vertical synchronisation. Picture shifted vertically. at top. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Lacks horizontal amplitude. Regulation does not function.
- RP02 burns at switch on and destroys TP32 S2000A1.
- No light and the appliance cuts out.
- Line instability.
- No channel search.
- Line oscillating or tearing.
- Secondary protective circuit TV01 and TV02 disconnects intermittently.
- Adjusting the white setting.
- Approx one third of the top of the picture is crushed. (CTV2091 tip from PERDIO)
- Switches to protection mode. after start-up. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- The display is incorrect and PE appears.
- Channels below 30 cannot be received (chassis ICC4).
- Systematic failure of TL54. At switch on TEA2026 has been changed.
- No display. Appliance starts.
- Adjusting Us= 108V.
- Vertical line. in the centre.
- No brightness (only outlines can be recognised). Colour is ok.
- Contrast and colour are excessive at preset condition.
- No start up. PSU blocked.
- Display appears after 15 secs, then pulsates on and off (no breaker circuit). (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Picture is dark. When Ug2 is completely there, a bit of the picture is present.
- The appliance crackles during low Gamme UHF.
- No videotext mode.
- The luminance signal disappears occasionally.
- TL19 fails in line output stage.
- Vertical lines are distorted horizontally. E/W equalizer can not be adjusted correctly. (CTV2091 PERDIO repair tip)
- Switches to standby (intermittently).
- Switched-mode power supply (SMPS) does not start up. (picture attached) (CTV2091 tip from PERDIO)
- Display ok, 90V, 13V and 22V are ok. Output 10 of TEA2026 to the line driver and the wave peaks are not in the correct frequency. IC and quartz have been changed.
- Sound to zero level. When volume is increased, sound goes back to zero level. Random channel switch-over.
- Vertical blue bar on centre of screen. No picture.
- No start up or reset.
- Can not be switched on from standby via RC.
- Picture is bright and white with flyback lines. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Does not start up when cold. Audio , display OK.
- Does not start up. Standby LED switches off.
- Screen blank. Dark picture.
- No U system.
- PSU does not start up with a mains voltage more than 200V, ok with a voltage less than or equal to 200V.
- In normal charge, TP32 and TP38 switch off. The appliance functions without a charge.
- TP29 fails after start-up.
- Vertical deflection has collapsed to a bright line in the middle of the screen.
- No start-up (intermittently). (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- U Varicap = 20V and will not change.
- No horizontal or vertical deflection.
- Switches to standby after 6 or 7 minutes with or without aerial signal.
- RP51 (0R22) blows intermittently.
- No picture, no sound and programme display does not light up.
- 300V on the collector of TP32. Oscillates at its base but no voltage on the secondary. (service info for PERDIO -CTV2091)
- PSU fails after start-up.
- After changing the battery, how do you adjust the channels without remote control IR?
- When warm picture lifts from the bottom and narrows at the top, black lines at the bottom of the screen.
- BU807 blows regularly. FBT and TEA2026 have been changed.
- Crackling in sound and picture in UHF and VHF. No sound in scart. (CTV2091 PERDIO repair tip)
- U1 = 60V instead of 90V.
- PSU is defective, after replacing the protection resistor RP11 and transistor TP32 (BU508) there is still a s/c ie. after switching on appliance there is another complete s/c of the BU 508A straight away.
- Appliance goes into PAL. Occasionally no display.
- No vertical synchronisation.
- Very snowy picture in UHF. Apparently the fault is at the level of the tuner UHF 4200.
- Bright picture. at top and bottom.
- There are 1300V present instead of 900V peak to peak on the collector of the TL37 (BU508ATB). This breaks after some time.
- TP32 (BU508) becomes defective after appliance turned ON/OFF several times. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Picture hum and picture is slightly brighter at the top and bottom. (picture attached)
- Dark picture. after a few minutes.
- No luminance.
- Does not memorise channel tuning. Display shows channel when TV tunes onto a programme. 'Ch' appears on display when pressing 'S' and channel number reappears.
- Black picture with 10cm of RGB horizontal lines over the whole screen. (CTV2091 tips)
- No vertical deflection.
- At start up 90V makes 12V. After 2 mins picture and sound present but 90V reaches a maximum at 85V.
- Coloured flyback lines and poor picture.
- TP32 heats up.
- Transistor BU508 fails repeatedly.
- PSU fails immediately after switch on.
- Cannot be switched on or switched to standby. Standby indicator does not light up.
- No start up. can be switched on after some time in standby. Sound OK.
- After switch on, vertical centering is shifted intermittently upwards approx. 2 cm; it goes to normal position after approx. 10 minutes.
- Negative picture. Distorted picture. OK via SCART .
- Distorted picture. Strong streaking.
- RP61 burns out.
- When warm flickers between picture and TXT. Characters keep popping up on screen
- Switches to protection mode. intermittently.
- Picture flickers slightly from bottom to top. After removing display indication (control unit) picture is ok (less

- RP23 and transistor (BU508A) have blown.
- Vertical amplitude is too low.
- Volume uncontrollable.
- Displays PR and does not start
- TL54/TP32 are destroyed.
- No command signal on the IL03.
- No function display. CTV functions via the front panel and the RCU.
- Vertical lines at edge during EE operation and via AV. (picture attached)
- No start-up from standby with RC. (CTV2091 tip from PERDIO)
- Poor reception. in VHF.
- No colour. No shutdown with RC.
- Channel storage is erased.
- No reception. via tuner. (CTV2091 PERDIO repair tip)
- Focus adjustment.
- Slight hum of vertical bars.
- General information.
- Standby flickers.
- TP32 fails at switch on. (with circuit diagram extract)
- The appliance blows up on a very light background.
- No system adjustment.
- Tube lights up as if G2 is at max (as if blocked in video). The same if an oscilloscope is put into scart. Sound and scanning ok. (CTV2091 tips)
- The appliance goes to safety mode and mute.
- TP29 fails after switch on.
- No start-up. Display OK .
- No picture on channel 99.
- No start function via RC. With mains switch appliance switches into standby. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Reduced horizontal size. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- No erasing possible.
- Vertical IC blows repeatedly after a few days.
- No picture. No sound. Programs can also be switched over.
- No picture. Sound and display are OK.
- Reference oscillator beat adjustment: PAL decoder.
- Contrast and brightness cannot be adjusted properly. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- No horizontal deflection.
- PAL run time decoder adjustment - PAL decoder.
- Searches for channels continuously.
- No brightness on picture. Chroma present with vertical instability and no sound.
- Horizontal deflection and line oscillator failed. (with circuit diagram extract)
- No picture. Vertical coloured lines. Raster problem. (CTV2091 tips)
- Coloured tinge in picture.
- Dark screen.
- The blue circuit is pale. (CTV2091 tips)
- Vertical bar.
- Black band at bottom of screen over approx 8cm. Picture has shifted to the top.
- Line stage does not start up.
- Fuse blows at random, even at switch off.
- The power supply is correct without a load (U1 is up). There is a complete stop in the load.
- The channels unkey after a while.
- The colour appears after a few minutes.
- RP11 blows.
- No image, red raster and flyback lines visible. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Excessive vertical size.
- No picture in UHF, voltage for band change and tuning is OK. (PERDIO - CTV2091 information)
- Voltages from FBT gradually decrease then line BU S2000 blows after operating for 15 mins.
- The appliance takes 2-3 minutes to start up. (CTV2091 tip from PERDIO)
- Switches to standby. after a few minutes.
- Only switches on after 70 secs. After start up everything is ok. (service info for PERDIO -CTV2091)
- The power supply is destroyed.
- Image noise in upper channels (e.g. channel 60, 99) only. (with circuit diagram extract) (service info for PERDIO -CTV2091)
- Vertical lines on edge in EE-mode and via AV.
- No speacial channels. Appliance works only up to channel 69. Display for brightness shows L (= English mode) instead of B. (CTV2091 tip from PERDIO)
- Reduced vertical size.
- S2000 is s/c. Replaced with the original repair set, it still fails. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- No start-up. (picture attached)
- IR receiver does not function.
- Adjusting the screen grid voltage (grey setting).
- No tuning.
- Picture is dark or partially ther.
- Intermittent loss of sync, a blank raster, no sound, switching to standby and the LED channel display going off.
- No horizontal deflection. intermittently.
- On channels from 21 to 27 picture is ok, from 32 to 35 lines on picture and from 41 to 47 no picture.
- TEA 2026C is defective. (CTV2091 tip from PERDIO)
- Power supply fault. TP37 and TP32 have a short circuit and occasionally TP38. (service info for PERDIO -CTV2091)
- Switches to protection mode.
- No picture. Flyback lines. at top. Audio OK .
- No functions. Standby LED is not visible.
- No switch on. Standby power supply ok. Standby indicator lights up.
- No TXT.
- Muted audio.
- Noisy sound or no sound at all.
- No colour (intermittently). Line tearing.
- Goes into standby every quarter of an hour or half an hour. (CTV2091 tips)
- No adjustment.
- Horizontal centre adjustment.
- No function, standby point is not visible. (CTV2091 PERDIO repair tip)
- No display. TV functions well. Channel change over ok.
- No high channels can be requested.
- Power supply BU S2000 (BU508AT, BU508AF) S/C.
- Power supply, fuses, BUs, etc, blow each time appliance is switched off by ON/OFF switch. (PERDIO - CTV2091 information)
- Picture predominantly red in SECAM. Ok in PAL via scart.
- Channels from 21 to 32 come through well but with lines and nothing comes through from 41 to 53.
- The picture blows up and the bottom of the screen is bright.
- Power supply fails at less than 100V.
- Low audio.
- Dark screen. on the left.
- Standard CCETT adaptation.
- Picture is pulled at the top. Poor line sync. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Standby LED flashes.
- Vertical foldover at bottom.
- White, bright picture, picture poorly distinguishable.
- Unstable luminance when the appliance is warm.
- Deprogrammes approx every 4 to 5 months.

- TL19 fails in line ouptut stage.
- No search possible. TV switches off without the 10th, 20th and 30th channel.
- The picture is delayed by a few minutes.
- The appliance crackles and the picture framing is incorrect.
- Power supply breakdown due to a volt-rise of the power supply kit.
- 90V problem. RP51 heats up and cuts out. DP51 and CP51 ok. Brand new line transformer.
- PSU does not always start after switch on via front control or RC.
- Stations appear and disappear. Horizontal lines in picture.
- Does not start up. Only displays the channel number. Power supply kit has been replaced.
- Sound purrs when tuning, picture is correct. Sound is possibly correct but picture disappears.

- Excessive green.
- Too much contrast, cannot be adjusted to less. (with circuit diagram extract)
- The appliance pulsates 3 times then goes to safety mode.

- Picture appears slowly. Display OK .

- Switches off intermittently or does not switch on at all.
- The power supply does not function with load.
- Starts up after 3 mins.
- Vertical centre adjustment.

- Dark screen, 5 or 6 coloured lines at the top of the screen. Picture returns if appliance is hit.

- Only switches on occasionally, but without picture and sound. Occasionally very high switch on current consumption.
- The picture is blurred (spot at the bottom of the screen).
- IL03 (TEA2026) blows up when the appliance goes into AV on TV 42cm.
- Low hum of vertical lines. (picture attached)
- Picture flickers and stripes in the picture.
- Vertical line.
- On start up, black interference lines appear then the screen is white.
- Loss of sync/raster/sound. Display goes off.
- Appliance does not function with the mains switch then starts up again with another button.
- Picture spraying on band I (heat dependent at DP51). (picture attached)
- Horizontal deflection is missing. Protective circuit disconnects. Standby point flashes.
- Dead.
- Top part of the picture is too wide and bottom part is too narrow
- No sensitivity in the tuning.
- TP32 in the PSU is s/c.
- Crackling in sound and picture in UHF and VHF. No sound via scart.
- BU807 (TL54) cuts out. (PERDIO - CTV2091 information)
- No start-up. No display.
- Poor contacts.
- Snow in picture. in UHF.
- Poor picture alignment.
- No video or scanning. Channels are displayed.
- Starts to pulsates. Sound, picture and display present.
- Ghosting effect.
- Poor startup.
- Fuse blows as soon as degaussing is connected.
- After a few days the TV fails. RP11, TP32 and TP38 are defective. The 925TX1283 unit has been replaced: TP32, TP38, CV16, DP33, DP41, DL62, DL64, QL11, CP31, DP32, DP38.
- TL54 (BU807) becomes very hot after a few mins and blows. Normal picture.
- Secondary protective circuits TV01 and TV02 disconnect intermittently. (CTV2091 tips)
- No image content, only HF noise. (picture attached)
- Snow, no voltage on Varicap.
- RL41 O/C due to dry joints below connector BD01.
- No picture. Fusible resistor RP47 (0R22) in U2 13V-rail blows repeatedly.
- No 300V at collector of TP32. If collector is disconnected 300V appear.
- Line BU (BU508) becomes hot and blows. At base of BU there are double pulses.
- Dark picture.
- No picture content, rainbow colours at upper edge. U4 (17,5V) is too high, voltage at thyristor anode too high (approx 30V). At pin 4 of IC03 (TEA2026C) voltage is too high, instead of (2,8V approx. 7V).
- Station tuning disappears.
- Does not come on from standby, red standby light comes on. TV01 and TV02 in the protective circuit respond.
- Flyback lines. No brightness. No contrast.
- Rainbow effect in the centre.
- No picture, no sound - PSU is switched off.
- Fails frequently when operating.
- After switching on the mains progamme indication in the display but no picture and no sound. (with circuit diagram extract)
- No picture. after a few minutes. Audio OK . (PERDIO - CTV2091 information)
- Adjustment of 5.5MHz min. or 4.43MHz min.
- No reception on band I, or only picture flickering.
- Cannot be switched on or switched to standby. Standby indicator does not light up. (PERDIO - CTV2091 information)
- The PSU fails instantly. When this is replaced by the repair kit the same problem arises.
- Normal in black and white. In chroma, red of picture is green, blue is red and green is blue.
- R82 (10R) on the tube base board fails.
- No start up. PSU whistles even when secondary side disconnected.
- The 108V voltage varies (U-system).
- Faint blue picture with no picture content and flyback lines. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Tuning voltage drifts.
- The appliance switches off for a short time and back on again. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Purity spot and scanning are incorrect.
- Intermittent loss of synchronization.
- Interference lines in the top part of the screen. (CTV2091 tips)
