TLG9220 / PERDIO [TV]

The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers supplies the following faults for TLG9220 / PERDIO.

List of fault symptoms:
  • No picture in UHF, voltage for band change and tuning is OK.
  • Picture is bright and white with flyback lines. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Loud audio.
  • Picture hum and picture is slightly brighter at the top and bottom. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • No RC functions.
  • No erasing possible.
  • The display is incorrect and PE appears.
  • TP32 fails at switch on. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • Vertical lines on edge in EE-mode and via AV.
  • Transistor BU508 fails repeatedly.
  • Displays PR and does not start
  • Volume uncontrollable.
  • Power supply kit has been changed, has been working for 2 days and TP32 s/c, RP11 o/c, TL54 s/c, DL66 s/c, etc. Everything has been replaced, then no U1, U2, U3, U7, power supply transformer OK.
  • No high channels can be requested.
  • TP32 in the PSU is s/c.
  • In normal charge, TP32 and TP38 switch off. The appliance functions without a charge.
  • TL54 (BU807) becomes very hot after a few mins and blows. Normal picture.
  • Vertical collapse (intermittently).
  • Noisy sound or no sound at all.
  • Black screen. Display is lit. Intermittent sound. Fault occurs both via aerial and SCART.
  • Power supply breakdown due to a volt-rise of the power supply kit.
  • PSU inoperative.
  • No start up. PSU blocked.
  • Vertical IC blows repeatedly after a few days. (TLG9220 PERDIO repair tip)
  • Dark picture. after a few minutes.
  • No display. TV functions well. Channel change over ok.
  • TP29 fails after start-up.
  • Dead.
  • No start up or reset.
  • Wide dark stripes on left side of picture.
  • FBT ok at start up but dark screen except for 3 coloured lines in top third of screen. Sound and display of channels ok. (PERDIO - TLG9220 information)
  • R82 (10R) on the tube base board fails. (service info for PERDIO -TLG9220)
  • Dark picture.
  • U1 = 60V instead of 90V.
  • No vertical deflection. intermittently. No audio. intermittently.
  • Faint blue picture with no picture content and flyback lines. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • Interference lines in the top part of the screen.
  • Only switches on occasionally, but without picture and sound. Occasionally very high switch on current consumption.
  • Line stage does not start up.
  • The line framing is incorrect.
  • Coloured flyback lines and poor picture.
  • Vertical lines are distorted horizontally. E/W equalizer can not be adjusted correctly. (TLG9220 PERDIO repair tip)
  • On start up, black interference lines appear then the screen is white.
  • No image content, only HF noise. (+ extract of circuit diagram) (TLG9220 tip from PERDIO)
  • No 300V at collector of TP32. If collector is disconnected 300V appear.
  • No start-up (intermittently). (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Coloured tinge in picture.
  • Approx one third of the top of the picture is crushed.
  • Standby flickers.
  • Start up ok. Picture and sound ok. After 15 minutes or more than one hour no picture but son ok. Horizontal white line.
  • Purity spot and scanning are incorrect. (TLG9220 tip from PERDIO)
  • No functions. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Crackling in sound and picture in UHF and VHF. No sound in scart.
  • Starts up after 3 mins.
  • Is it possible to fit a TEA 2026C in place of a TEA 2026T ?
  • Top part of the picture is too wide and bottom part is too narrow
  • PAL run time decoder adjustment - PAL decoder.
  • TP32 (BU508) becomes defective after appliance turned ON/OFF several times. (picture attached)
  • RP51 (0R22) blows intermittently.
  • Horizontal collapse.
  • Picture appears slowly. Display OK . (TLG9220 PERDIO repair tip)
  • S2000 is s/c. Replaced with the original repair set, it still fails. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • BU807 blows regularly. FBT and TEA2026 have been changed.
  • Flyback lines. No brightness. No contrast.
  • Fuse blows at random, even at switch off.
  • The power supply does not start up. No standby
  • The power supply is correct without a load (U1 is up). There is a complete stop in the load.
  • No picture. after a few minutes. Audio OK .
  • No function, standby point is not visible.
  • Power supply, fuses, BUs, etc, blow each time appliance is switched off by ON/OFF switch. (TLG9220 tips)
  • Standard CCETT adaptation.
  • At start up no line scanning or raster, TV displays PR. After approx 30 mins TV starts up.
  • Noise on channel 09 (band I) - colour picture. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • White, bright picture, picture poorly distinguishable.
  • The channels unkey after a while.
  • Does not start up. Only displays the channel number. Power supply kit has been replaced.
  • Adjusting the white setting.
  • No picture. Flyback lines. at top. Audio OK .
  • Picture is dark. When Ug2 is completely there, a bit of the picture is present.
  • Insufficient picture width, poor lines visible on screen (TLG9220 tip from PERDIO)
  • Focus pot is defective.
  • No speacial channels. Appliance works only up to channel 69. Display for brightness shows L (= English mode) instead of B.
  • No reception. via tuner.
  • When warm picture lifts from the bottom and narrows at the top, black lines at the bottom of the screen.
  • Vertical line. in the centre.
  • Power supply fails at less than 100V.
  • No picture. Sound and display are OK.
  • Vertical line.
  • No 90V, RP51 burns. BU807, BU508.
  • TL19 fails in line output stage.
  • Bright picture. at top and bottom.
  • U Varicap = 20V and will not change. (TLG9220 tips)
  • No U system.
  • Switched-mode power supply (SMPS) does not start up. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • When appliance is switched on mains BU fails immediately.
  • No videotext mode.
  • No video or scanning. Channels are displayed. (TLG9220 tip from PERDIO)
  • The picture is delayed by a few minutes. (TLG9220 tips)
  • Poor vertical and horizontal amplitude with slight waving at sides, when cold. Everything returns to normal within 5 mins.
  • Does not start up when cold. Audio , display OK.
  • There are 1300V present instead of 900V peak to peak on the collector of the TL37 (BU508ATB). This breaks after some time.
  • S/C in PSU. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Systematic failure of TL54. At switch on TEA2026 has been changed.
  • The PSU fails instantly. When this is replaced by the repair kit the same problem arises.
  • No image, red raster and flyback lines visible. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • No system adjustment.
  • Fuse blows constantly.
  • PSU does not always start after switch on via front control or RC.
  • When switching on BU508A and RP11 fail after 2 secs.
  • No start-up from standby with RC.
  • Picture predominantly red in SECAM. Ok in PAL via scart.
  • Poor picture alignment.
  • Muted audio. (TLG9220 tips)
  • PSU fails after start-up.
  • Snow, no voltage on Varicap. (PERDIO - TLG9220 information)
  • Only switches on after 70 secs. After start up everything is ok.
  • Line BU (BU508) becomes hot and blows. At base of BU there are double pulses.
  • TP29 fails after switch on.
  • Very snowy picture in UHF. Apparently the fault is at the level of the tuner UHF 4200.
  • Shade appears behind the picture.
  • The appliance goes to safety mode and mute.
  • Sound is always at max even if appliance displays volume with 00.
  • Crackling in sound and picture in UHF and VHF. No sound via scart.
  • No horizontal deflection.
  • Excessive vertical size.
  • Switches to protection mode. intermittently.
  • Too much contrast, cannot be adjusted to less. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • Secondary protective circuits TV01 and TV02 disconnect intermittently.
  • Deprogrammes approx every 4 to 5 months.
  • Stations appear and disappear. Horizontal lines in picture.
  • The picture is blurred (spot at the bottom of the screen).
  • Does not come on from standby, red standby light comes on. TV01 and TV02 in the protective circuit respond.
  • The luminance signal disappears occasionally.
  • TL19 fails in line ouptut stage.
  • Switches to standby. after a few minutes.
  • Goes into standby every quarter of an hour or half an hour.
  • No picture or sound. At switch on display indicates a channel but no control is possible. (service info for PERDIO -TLG9220)
  • IR receiver does not function.
  • Picture flickers and stripes in the picture.
  • The appliance pulsates 3 times then goes to safety mode.
  • Vertical lines at edge during EE operation and via AV. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • Rainbow effect in the centre.
  • Horizontal deflection and line oscillator failed. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Secondary protective circuit TV01 and TV02 disconnects intermittently.
  • Switches to standby. after a while.
  • Power supply stops occasionally, approx after 1/2 hour (very irregular).
  • TEA 2026C is defective.
  • Adjustment of 5.5MHz min. or 4.43MHz min.
  • The power supply is destroyed.
  • When warm flickers between picture and TXT. Characters keep popping up on screen
  • TP01 (BUT12A) fails after longer operating time (TLG9220 PERDIO repair tip)
  • After switch on, vertical centering is shifted intermittently upwards approx. 2 cm; it goes to normal position after approx. 10 minutes.
  • No UHF channels.
  • Standby light flashes, fuse blows. RP11 and TP32, BU508 fails. (TLG9220 tips)

  • Black picture with 10cm of RGB horizontal lines over the whole screen.
  • Loss of sync/raster/sound. Display goes off.
  • Vertical centre adjustment.
  • No picture. No audio. No channel display.
  • Excessive green.
  • Can not be switched on from standby via RC.
  • When cold, no sound and no line amplitude then finally starts up. (service info for PERDIO -TLG9220)
  • Horizontal stripe (intermittently). (TLG9220 tips)
  • No picture on channel 99.
  • Searches for channels continuously.
  • Picture spraying on band I (heat dependent at DP51). (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • RP02 burns at switch on and destroys TP32 S2000A1.
  • No scanning. Display ok.
  • BU807 (TL54) cuts out.
  • The appliance blows up on a very light background.
  • Power supply defective.
  • The blue circuit is pale.
  • Unstable lines and there is an interference line at the base of TP32.
  • Picture shifted vertically.
  • Vertical bar.
  • No sensitivity in the tuning.
  • E/W fault.
  • Image compressed horizontally. Insufficient width approx 1cm on left and right of screen.
  • No secondary voltage.
  • Fails frequently when operating.
  • Reduced horizontal size. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • Cannot be switched on or switched to standby. Standby indicator does not light up.
  • No picture. No sound. Programs can also be switched over.
  • Line instability.
  • The picture blows up and the bottom of the screen is bright.
  • Line stage does not start up.
  • No channel search.
  • Intermittent loss of sync. Blank raster. No audio. No LEDs.
  • The fuse blows because RP02 heats up. (TLG9220 tips)
  • Phase comparator fault on TV. Ok on secondary.
  • Appliance goes into PAL. Occasionally no display.
  • No picture content, rainbow colours at upper edge. U4 (17,5V) is too high, voltage at thyristor anode too high (approx 30V). At pin 4 of IC03 (TEA2026C) voltage is too high, instead of (2,8V approx. 7V).
  • No transmission in UHF (12V on pin 10 of the tuner connector). (TLG9220 PERDIO repair tip)
  • RP02 and power supply BU blow. (PERDIO - TLG9220 information)
  • No start-up. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Voltages from FBT gradually decrease then line BU S2000 blows after operating for 15 mins.
  • Standby LED flashes.
  • Snow in picture. in UHF.
  • Blank screen.
  • Screen blank. Dark picture.
  • No vertical synchronisation.
  • Picture width fault.
  • Slight hum of vertical bars.
  • U1 is instead of 84-90V only approx. 60V. Current consumption is over 100W.
  • No light and the appliance cuts out.
  • No start-up. No display.
  • Appliance does not function with the mains switch then starts up again with another button.
  • No picture, no sound and programme display does not light up.
  • Switches to protection mode.
  • The sound and picture hum.
  • RP61 burns out.
  • No brightness. Three RGB colour bands on left and right of the screen.
  • Both vertical and horizontal synchronization instability.
  • The 108V voltage varies (U-system).
  • Poor display.
  • Line output stage doesn't start up.
  • 90V problem. RP51 heats up and cuts out. DP51 and CP51 ok. Brand new line transformer.
  • Display appears after 15 secs, then pulsates on and off (no breaker circuit). (with circuit diagram extract)
  • After changing the battery, how do you adjust the channels without remote control IR?
  • No picture. Check the signal on pin 10 of IT20. (PERDIO - TLG9220 information)
  • No colour, picture streaking. (TLG9220 PERDIO repair tip)
  • Slow start-up.
  • Ghosting effect.
  • Poor contacts.
  • Intermittent loss of sync, a blank raster, no sound, switching to standby and the LED channel display going off.
  • Hesitant start up. Mains button must be pressed several times. If appliance runs, fails again most of the time after a few mins.
  • No picture, no sound - PSU is switched off.
  • The power supply does not function with load.
  • No functions. Standby LED is not visible.
  • DP51 s/c after operating for half an hour.
  • Tube lights up as if G2 is at max (as if blocked in video). The same if an oscilloscope is put into scart. Sound and scanning ok.
  • Tuning voltage drifts.
  • The appliance hums and the picture is unstable.
  • Contrast and brightness cannot be adjusted properly. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • IL03 (TEA2026) blows up when the appliance goes into AV on TV 42cm.
  • At start up 90V makes 12V. After 2 mins picture and sound present but 90V reaches a maximum at 85V.
  • After switching on the mains progamme indication in the display but no picture and no sound. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • Channels from 21 to 32 come through well but with lines and nothing comes through from 41 to 53.
  • Sound to zero level. When volume is increased, sound goes back to zero level. Random channel switch-over.
  • No TXT.
  • Picture flickers slightly from bottom to top. After removing display indication (control unit) picture is ok (less current). (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • TP32 (BU508) and TL37 (BU508) fail immediately after switch on. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • Sound purrs when tuning, picture is correct. Sound is possibly correct but picture disappears. (TLG9220 PERDIO repair tip)
  • No reception on band I, or only picture flickering.
  • Vertical amplitude is too low.
  • Spots of colour on the screen.
  • PSU fails immediately after switch on. (PERDIO - TLG9220 information)
  • Mains switch no start up. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • The linearity coil whistles.
  • No tuning.
  • The varicap voltage does not move.
  • The colour appears after a few minutes.
  • The power supply does not start up. All transistors have been changed.
  • No vertical deflection.
  • RL41 O/C due to dry joints below connector BD01.
  • Vertical picture position shifts intermittently upwards approx 2 cm after switch on. It is OK after approx 10 mins.
  • Line oscillating or tearing.
  • PSU is defective, after replacing the protection resistor RP11 and transistor TP32 (BU508) there is still a s/c ie. after switching on appliance there is another complete s/c of the BU 508A straight away.
  • Picture appears slowly.
  • No search possible. TV switches off without the 10th, 20th and 30th channel.
  • Power supply fault. TP37 and TP32 have a short circuit and occasionally TP38.
  • Vertical deflection has collapsed to a bright line in the middle of the screen.
  • On channels from 21 to 27 picture is ok, from 32 to 35 lines on picture and from 41 to 47 no picture. (TLG9220 tips)
  • Power supply BU S2000 (BU508AT, BU508AF) S/C.
  • Replacement kit of thyristor ESM740/G1/G2.
  • Image noise in upper channels (e.g. channel 60, 99) only. (picture attached) (PERDIO - TLG9220 information)
  • Picture is pulled at the top. Poor line sync. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • Volume varies.
  • PSU repair tip.
  • Intermittent loss of synchronization.
  • Power supply fault.
  • No colour. No shutdown with RC.
  • U7 = 15V and there is no 12V voltage. A black band appears on the screen.
  • Does not start up. Standby LED switches off.
  • Adjusting Us= 108V.
  • At switch on when cold picture is reduced in height and width of the screen. After heating up for some time scanning becomes normal. Fault is no longer visible. You must wait until TV has cooled down sufficiently. (TLG9220 PERDIO repair tip)
  • No switch on. Standby power supply ok. Standby indicator lights up.
  • PSU does not start up with a mains voltage more than 200V, ok with a voltage less than or equal to 200V.
  • Fuse blows as soon as degaussing is connected. (TLG9220 tip from PERDIO)
  • 300V on the collector of TP32. Oscillates at its base but no voltage on the secondary.
  • Excessive brightness.
  • No reception at band I, or image flickering only. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • No display. Appliance starts.
  • Vertical foldover at bottom.
  • Channels below 30 cannot be received (chassis ICC4).
  • No command signal on the IL03.
  • Poor vertical synchronisation.
  • The appliance crackles and the picture framing is incorrect.
  • Switches to standby (intermittently).
  • Sound and picture cut out, display for 30 secs.
  • DP51 heats up.
  • No picture. Fusible resistor RP47 (0R22) in U2 13V-rail blows repeatedly.
  • No picture. Vertical coloured lines. Raster problem.
  • No start function via RC. With mains switch appliance switches into standby. (with circuit diagram extract)

  • No horizontal deflection. intermittently.
  • No start up. can be switched on after some time in standby. Sound OK.
  • Distorted picture. Strong streaking.

  • No adjustment.
  • No function display. CTV functions via the front panel and the RCU.
  • When switching into standby mode from the remote control the appliance switches off the sound and colour. This effect also occurs with a Condor appliance.
  • Negative picture. Distorted picture. OK via SCART .
  • Poor startup. (service info for PERDIO -TLG9220)
  • Station tuning disappears.
  • Unstable luminance when the appliance is warm.
  • Tripping.
  • RP23 and transistor (BU508A) have blown.
  • Horizontal centre adjustment.
  • Picture is dark or partially ther.
  • RP11 blows.
  • No horizontal or vertical deflection.
  • No brightness (only outlines can be recognised). Colour is ok.
  • Black band on one part of the screen and interference.
  • Display ok, 90V, 13V and 22V are ok. Output 10 of TEA2026 to the line driver and the wave peaks are not in the correct frequency. IC and quartz have been changed.
  • Reference oscillator beat adjustment: PAL decoder. (PERDIO - TLG9220 information)
  • Switches to protection mode. after start-up. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Normal in black and white. In chroma, red of picture is green, blue is red and green is blue.
  • The appliance takes 2-3 minutes to start up.
  • Starts to pulsates. Sound, picture and display present.
  • Black band at bottom of screen over approx 8cm. Picture has shifted to the top.
  • Poor vertical synchronisation. Picture shifted vertically. at top. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • Vertical blue bar on centre of screen. No picture.
  • TP32 and TP38 have a short circuit.
  • Cannot be switched on or switched to standby. Standby indicator does not light up. (TLG9220 tip from PERDIO)
  • The appliance switches off for a short time and back on again. (picture attached)
  • Dark screen.
  • TL54/TP32 are destroyed.
  • No colour (intermittently). Line tearing.
  • Screen blank, only RF-noise. No 0,5-30V tuning voltage at RT11. The three band switch transistors are conductive. Error may also occur only sometimes.
  • Programmes memory is lost once a month. (TLG9220 tips)
  • The picture shifts towards the bottom of the screen.
  • The appliance crackles during low Gamme UHF. (TLG9220 tip from PERDIO)
  • Dark screen, 5 or 6 coloured lines at the top of the screen. Picture returns if appliance is hit.
  • Switches off intermittently or does not switch on at all.
  • Power supply fuse blows. When it has been replaced, TV functions again for several days.
  • TP32 heats up. (TLG9220 tips)
  • Focus adjustment.
  • Dark screen. on the left.
  • Standby indicator flashes.
  • Poor reception. in VHF.
  • Contrast and colour are excessive at preset condition.
  • Horizontal deflection is missing. Protective circuit disconnects. Standby point flashes. (service info for PERDIO -TLG9220)
  • Switches to standby after 6 or 7 minutes with or without aerial signal.
  • No start up. PSU whistles even when secondary side disconnected. (service info for PERDIO -TLG9220)
  • Channel storage is erased.
  • Setting the vertical amplitude.
  • No brightness on picture. Chroma present with vertical instability and no sound.
  • No luminance.
  • Reduced vertical size.
  • High contrast.
  • No colour.Flag-effect.
  • Picture too small. at start-up.
  • Contrast average value is too high. (PERDIO - TLG9220 information)
  • No start-up. Display OK .
  • Does not memorise channel tuning. Display shows channel when TV tunes onto a programme. 'Ch' appears on display when pressing 'S' and channel number reappears.
  • Does not switch on. No standby.
  • Adjusting the screen grid voltage (grey setting).
  • Lacks horizontal amplitude. Regulation does not function.
  • Reluctant to start then produces a picture with reduced width.
  • After a few days the TV fails. RP11, TP32 and TP38 are defective. The 925TX1283 unit has been replaced: TP32, TP38, CV16, DP33, DP41, DL62, DL64, QL11, CP31, DP32, DP38.
