20E0461 / RADIUS [20" monitors]

The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers supplies the following faults for 20E0461 / RADIUS.

List of fault symptoms:
  • Vertical roll.
  • Switches off. GEO LED lights up.
  • No vertical synchronisation.
  • Power supply voltage are too low (55V instead of 144V). Power and Saving LEDs flash and geometry LED is on. LOPT ok.
  • Q511 is defective. Appliance does not yet function. High voltage builds up then goes down again. Goes into power save mode. Green LED goes out. Orange LED lights up.
  • Picture grows dim after some time then finally disappears.
  • Cloud of smoke from the line output stage.
  • Both LEDs flash.
  • Picture shifted horizontally. on the right.
  • Switches off and yellow LED flashes.
  • Line output stage is defective.
  • Keys do not function (except power).
  • Information: diode D505.
  • Picture is completely blurred on the right, if focus control is turned, picture can be sharpened on the right then however the middle is blurred.
  • Appliance goes into power save mode.
  • No HV. Geometry light, power/saver lights flash.
  • No horizontal synchronisation after switched-on for 30 minutes.
  • Picture absent, high voltage missing, geometry light on, power save and power light flash.
  • High voltage builds up to 27100V auf. After 5 secs switches to power save. No LEDs light up.
  • Shutsdown. Flashing orange light.
  • Q512 (SC3998) and Q511 are S/C.
  • Error codes.
  • Poor picture.
  • Switches off by itself. after start-up.
  • White balance adjustment methods (with HSI Function)
  • Does not switch on, power LED flashing.
  • Bright picture with flyback lines. No picture content.
  • After switch on high voltage is built up for a short time. H stage build up and mains chopper transformer hisses.
  • Power save and Standby flash. Geometry light permanently.
  • Switches on, HT builds up briefly, then it switches to power-save. LED is on. No picture.
  • Protection mode activated. after start-up.
  • Vertical lines are sometimes duplicated.
  • No adjustment of horizontal, pincushion and keystone balance. Defective horizontal, centering and dynamic focus.
  • No HV. after a while.
  • No HV, GEO-LED is constantly on. H-drive pulse from the N-board only for 0.5 sec., then it disappears.
  • Shuts down.
  • Terminals.
  • Vertical smearing in middle third of screen.
  • Picture shifted to the left.

  • No vertical deflection.
  • No raster.
  • Starts up for a short time then switches at once into power save mode.
  • Convergence fine adjustment
  • No picture. Power and Power-Saving LED flash. CENT-LED lights up.
  • Geometry error message.
  • Switches off. Mains LED flashes green, Power-save LED and Cent-LED flash orange.
  • Short peeping at switch on. Finally Power and Save flash- Geo LED lights continuously.
  • Switches to protection mode.
  • Dead. Front panel LEDs flash.
  • Information: FCC ID.
  • After changing IC801, high voltage for 2 secs then the power- and saving LEDs flash. Geom LED is on.
  • Dark picture.
  • Builds up high voltage for a short time and then goes into error mode. Centre LED is still lit and power LED and power save LED flash.
  • Switches on and off again immediately. Error message and size LED light up.
  • Screen is dark, green power LED on, otherwise no error message.
  • Switches off by itself. after a few seconds.
  • High voltage builds shortly up, then error report. Geometry LED and Power save + on LED flash.
  • IC801 (CMOS4049) fails when there are high voltage flashovers.
  • Shuts down (after a few seconds).

  • Specifications.
  • PSU whistles and does not oscillate.
  • D504 type.
  • High voltage builds up for a short time and then switches off.
  • No picture. High voltage and power save light on.
  • Centre LED on. Powersafe LEDs flash. High voltage is built up for a short time.
  • Screen is dark, high voltage for a short time and finally appliance jumps into power save mode.
  • Green and yellow LEDs flash. Geometry LED lights up permanently.

  • Horizontal shift, centering control does not function properly.
  • Goes into standby, centre LED is on.
  • Slight flickering at the bottom side edges. Hardly visible.

  • Squealing noise.
  • Picture shrinks, popping, dies and also smells.
  • Picture is slightly blurred at the edge and picture position is wrong.
  • Dead.
  • Picture is unstable when switching from TXT to Graphics mode and when going from a low to high resolution graphics mode or in reverse.
  • Type and values for D825, R851 and C822.
  • Switches off after the slightest shake (at almost every site). Only by switching on again is the picture sporadically present again.
  • Goes into Geo fault.
  • No dynamic focus. Fuzzy horizontal lines in centre of screen.
  • Goes into Power Save. Geometry LED is on.
  • High voltage builds up for a short time. Error message Cent LED on. Power-Save and Power-On flicker.
  • Blurry picture. on the left (at bottom).
  • Repeatedly blows IC404.
  • Bright picture. Flyback lines.
  • Excessive brightness. Flyback lines.
  • Power Save and Centre LEDs light up.
  • EHT comes up for a second, then dies. (20E0461 tips)
  • Starts up for a short time, high voltage builds up. After 5 mins appliance switches to standby. Mains voltages fall to approx 1/3 of their normal value.
  • Switches off immediately. Power LED, power saving LED and geometry LED flashing.
  • Strong line tearing on the whole screen. Vertical lines are zigzag.
  • CENT lights and both right LEDs flash.
  • Keine H-Ablenkung, Betriebsspannung fehlt. Fehlermeldung: PowerSave Cent.
  • Discharge of the tube.
  • Line collapse, dim vertical bar (5mm wide, 1/3 of way from left). Visible on white raster at 640x480 and 1024x768.
  • Convergence rough adjustment.
  • No picture due to loss of CRT heater voltage.
  • No HV and LEDs flashing.
  • Error message: both LEDs flash on the right. CENT lights up permanently. (20E0461 tips)
  • On the top right and left of the picture tube there are green or blue coloured flecks.
  • Goes on for a short time then goes into power save.

  • Error message: PowerSave Cent. At switch on high voltage builds up.
  • No horizontal deflection. Error mesage: Power Save Cent.
  • Power- and saving-LED flash. Geometry LED is on. LOPT is not defective. No voltage at line end stage.
  • White screen. Flyback lines.
  • Power and power LEDs flash and geometry LED permanently on when mains cable inserted.
  • Q511 blown again after replacement.
  • No functions.
  • Adjustments for the picture geometry are lost after changing the mode.
  • Picture is red, green or blue if brightness is increased.
  • Trembles horizontally.
  • Power-Save LED is on.
  • Vertical convergence has shifted.
  • No horizontal deflection. No operating voltage. Error message: PowerSave Cent. (service info for RADIUS -20E0461)
  • High voltage builds up at the moment of switch on. Error message: PowerSave Cent.
  • Supply voltage for the line end stage is not switched through via Q804.
  • At the moment of switch on high voltage build sup then appliance switches off.
  • Deflection fault, error message: Power Save Cent.
  • LEDs flash.
  • Drive for the down control Q804. (20E0461 tip from RADIUS)
  • No synchronisation.
  • Switches off immediately. Power Save and Centre LED light up.
  • Starts up and shutsdown. Power and power save LED's flashing.
  • In shut down mode but centering and power saving LEDs lit.
  • Value of R624 on the power supply board (the -15V track which sits on relay RY601).
  • No HV.
  • Vertical and horizontal position and size specification.
  • LED code list.
