36C504 / SABA [TV]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for 36C504 / SABA.
List of fault symptoms:
- No picture, no sound. Horizontal white bar at top of screen with interference. Switch OFF. Large white spot in centre of screen takes a long time to disappear. (36C504 tips)
- TP01, BU807 destroyed in 30 secs. Change TP02,04 etc. Line transformer IPL feedback ok without TP01. Mini scanning ok. New FBT.
- Line desynchronisation of the picture after a moment.
- Picture is scarcely recognisable. Incorrect signal at pin 23 of MTS4000.
- No start up. Line pulsating.
- No reception, I.F. noise on all channels.
- Height and width fault. U1 voltage is incorrect.
- No start up and no standby. When vertical is disconnected, TV starts up with white bar. Normal during operation. When vertical deflector is connected horizontal bars of different colours appear in middle of screen.
- Flyback transformer whistles. Line and raster are separated.
- Traces of red but no red colour.
- Does not function in LL.
- Picture shifted downwards. Only 5 cm visible.
- No Y signal.
- Black stripe at bottom of screen and picture is noisy.
- No RC functions.
- U8=80V, U4=160V, U2=0V. Incorrect voltages; TP18, RP16, DP18, line transformer, TP01, RP11 ok. Transformer power supply, IL01, line BU ok. No voltage on pin 11 of the line transformer.
- Power supply BU clicks at start-up.
- Screen is white.
- RP14 and BU208 ae defective. Power supply voltage is ok. Base signal is ok. Line transistor collector pulse is ok. BU does not heat up. Mica has already been replaced.
- Dropouts.
- 80V instead of 143V. No power supply at TDA1950.
- Sound hums if low pitch is increased.
- Tripping when switching on or after a while. Pincushion effect, green screen with flyback lines. (36C504 tip from SABA)
- Power supply pulsating.
- Height and width fault. U1 voltage is incorrect.
- Occasionally no sound or picture. Memory is erased but RAM is ok.
- Multicoloured screen and incorrect purity.
- Little contrast and brightness. (service info for SABA -36C504)
- Horizontal line.
- Vertical roll upward when warm.
- TP01 (BU806) blows after working for a few hours.
- There is no green. The amplifier is correct. There is 40V at the collector of the TV62. The fault arose after the appliance suffered a fall.
- No picture scanning.
- U1=90V, U2=1V, U3=20V, U4=160V, U5=6V, U6=9V, U7=25V, U8=90V, U9=1V.
- Noise signal in low frequency.
- When cold if the aerial is connected the TV goes into safety mode. Picture appears but does not synchronise horizontally. OK after 1 min.
- EHT whistles. Picture compressed upwards.
- Change over display to "German".
- Line output transformer is defective. (36C504 tip from SABA)
- Poor raster synchronisation. (36C504 tips)
- FP02 blown at switch on.
- Double picture.
- Pincushion effect. Impossible adjust it with pots. Barrel shape pot PG03 does not adjust either.
- BU208D and BU806 blow after operating for 10 mins. (36C504 tip from SABA)
- General information.
- Line- and picture scanning fail occasionally. FBT whistles. (36C504 SABA repair tip)
- Remains on one channel no. When a button is pressed it changes over to another channel but returns to previous one when released. Appliance fitted with PRG touch sensitive buttons.
- Poor brightness and contrast. The white parts of the picture are clipped.
- Picture height and width are insufficient ahd the voltage supply is defective.
- Stuck in standby. (36C504 tip from SABA)
- White screen with flyback lines.
- Returns to first channel and weak sound (model with 8 soft-touch buttons).
- Occasionally sound or picture fail and the memory is erased. RAM is correct.
- The light cannot be lowered. Reaction on display but not on the tube both in manual and on the remote control. (service info for SABA -36C504)
- Picture darkens for a few secs then returns to normal after a few mins.
- Doesn't tune any TV channel.
- Display flashes. No sound or picture. On point 11 line transformer voltage varies.
- Picture flickering.
- RP14 O/C. 9V on cathode of zener DP18 (9V).
- Picture and sound good on the powerful signal but very snowy on the average signal.
- Repeated failure of BU806 chopper transistor TP01.
- Distorted/negative/ragged picture. Unable to adjust it.
- All the voltages on the power supply are wrong. U1: 80V instead of 110V. No picture or sound.
- TP01(BU806) and FP02 (1.6A) fail at start up.
- Intermittent start up. Display turns on but no picture.
- Picture moves to bottom of screen.
- When cold the picture fades, then poor colours with very fine blue lines across the screen. (SABA - 36C504 information)
- Top of picture is over 1cm at bottom of screen. The rest of the screen is covered by greenish, blueish and reddish fuzzy vertical bands. (36C504 SABA repair tip)
- No UHF reception but VHF is ok. Displays the channels ok.
- RL31 smokes.
- Incorrect line centering. Black bars on the right side.
- Eliminating a possible BF humming.
- No RC reception.
- Display and line transformer pump.
- No brightness or contrast.
- Does not start up. If TP18 is unsoldered, no longer collapses but picture is too wide. Impossible to adjust U1 (145V instead of 110V).
- Variation of frame stability or intermittent pulsating.
- Poor audio.
- Geometry fault which resembles a filtering fault.
- Occasionally the channels deprogramme when TV stops. Memory battery is ok. (36C504 SABA repair tip)
- Power supply pulsates U8=90V. Starts up if TP18 removed but power supply still too low. (36C504 tips)
- Appliance fails. After removing the safety mode, half of the picture appears.
- Vertical interference bands appear on both sides of the screen.
- Not enough height or width. No decoupling power supply. (36C504 SABA repair tip)
- Picture is out of alignment towards the top.
- Little or no video.
- Occasionally RP14 fails.
- No picture. Sound OK.
- Picture shifts to the right. (service info for SABA -36C504)
- Raster expansion at the top of the screen.
- Line BU heats up.
- No start-up.
- Picture pulsates according to the picture content especially on the whites. (36C504 SABA repair tip)
- Bottom of picture is too bright.
- ON4147 (BU 508A) is defective. (service info for SABA -36C504)
- Picture shifts to top of screen.
- No start up. Fast tripping.
- Line centralising is incorrect and there is a black stripe on the right side of the screen.
- No function. By short circuiting TP211, the TV functions. TP21, CP12, DF41/42, TP1, tp2 OK. Battery is ok.
- At times encoded picture, sound ok. Scart socket ok. TV16, RV11, CV12, IV21, TV49 ok. Canal Plus ok. (36C504 SABA repair tip)
- Intermittently dark screen , also in RGB. Sound ok.
- Height or width jump.
- Loud noise and unstable raster.
- Very bright horizontal bar measuring a few cms with sharp whistling.
- RP14 burnt.
- Picture with one predominant colour even in black and white.
- Loss of memory at a complete stop. Battery and complete operation unit has been changed.
- Impossible to store the channels. Also impossible to open the memory by prolonged pressing on the C button.
- White screen with flyback lines. Sound present, no video, picture out of alignment towards the bottom.
- Doesn't switch to selected channel. Picture shifted.
- Harsh noise and unstable rasters. (service info for SABA -36C504)
- For the second time, BU208D and fuse (1.6A) are defective.
- Fuse and mains transistor (BU806) blown.
- FP01 (1,25A) fuse blows.
- Display flashes after changing TDA4610.
- Poor voltage. U3: 18V on RL52. CL28 and PTC ok. U4: 160V, U2: 1V.
- The picture jumps up and down and there is not enough height at the bottom of the screen.
- FP01 blown.
- Flyback lines and noise from line transformer.
- Intermittent tripping when switching appliance on.
- No sound or picture (no EHT). Gives off smoke before failing.
- Dead.
- Picture torn at the top and bottom.
- No picture, only some very bright lines at the bottom of teh screen. Line transformer whistles.
- Doesn't tune any channel.
- Red tint in picture. (SABA - 36C504 information)
- Intermittently does not start up when switched on, even the raster connector. Line disconnected.
- No horizontal deflection.
- Black stripe in upper part. Displacement towards the bottom.
- At switch on, oscillates in safety mode, starts up after 2 mins with a line fault which disappears after 1 min.
- No colour or colour breaks in the line packet on weak transmissions.
- No HF signal despite changing the HF/IF tuner (MTS4040S).
- No sound, picture or EHT. Emits smoke then fails.
- Picture becomes crypted now and then. Sound OK. (36C504 SABA repair tip)
- No picture in lower part of screen.
- No 7V (U5), HF or display.
- No sound, EHT crackling. (SABA - 36C504 information)
- Doesn't tune band 4 and band 5 channels. Tunes correctly on bands 1 and 3.
- E/W correction does not function. (36C504 tip from SABA)
- Picture distorted on the right and left of the screen, 4-5cm from the bottom and over 1cm or 2cm in width.
- Goes into safety mode.
- Display flashes. No sound or picture. Voltage at point 11 of the line transformer varies.
- Raster fails occasionally.
- Screen is multicoloured and of poor quality.
- Vertical unstability.
- Display and power supply pulsate.
- The top 5cm of the screen is covered by black lines. Line transformer whistles. The whistling stops if you increase the height.
- Begins to fail at switch on even when connector is unplugged.
- Vertical reduced at the top of the screen.
- Insufficient line amplitude.
- Picture lacks width and flyback lines. (service info for SABA -36C504)
- White screen. No audio.
- All the secondary voltages of the line stage transformer are lower than normal.
- Screen darkens from left to right. (36C504 SABA repair tip)
- No muting.
- No function. Red LED ON.
- Occasionally black screen.
- Picture compression at the top of the screen. EHT whistling.
- Humming and picture is shrunken.
- Cuts out after a min. 1250V line pulse is slightly curved at back of wavefront. BU heats up too much.
- Problematic start up. Often remains in standby and the switch needs to be pressed several times to start up the TV. Nothing abnormal at the switch and solder joint level
- Flyback lines visible when warm.
- Distorted E/W and strange noise similar to self-oscillation.
- Top part of picture has shifted.
- In standby but standby LED off.
- No HV.
- No E/W correction with aerial signal. Hiccup with signal.
- Approx 2cm horizontal line on centre of screen. Whistle from line transformer.
- Compression from top of picture without displacement. When warm remains 1/4 of an hour on 1/4 of the picture.
- No sound in HF. The fault is on the MAM30M board. But where ?.
- Hums and picture shrinks.
- No vertical scanning and horizontal band which divides itself into several small moving lines. Line transformer whistles. (SABA - 36C504 information)
- Red appears weak for an instant. Flyback lines are visible.
- PSU pulsates. (SABA - 36C504 information)
- Dominant colour with flyback lines.
- Dashes on the picture.
- E/W fault.
- Picture pumping. Vertical foldover.
- Picture is predominantly red in HF and in scart. No black and white when colour pot is at min.
- Poor vertical linearity and height excess.
- No longer stores any channels.
- The screen is slightly lit up. The video and voltages are correct.
- Picture shifted to the top, impossible to recentre. Amplitude and vertical shift work, RL=4K7 set to 15K, same thing.
- Ondulations at top of picture.
- Display flashes. No picture or sound.
- DG05 blows, RL52 burns. Line transformer ok.
- Line amplitude is too weak and lines are wavy.
- After a short operation time, picture starts to faint gradually until screen is black. Sound OK. (36C504 tips)
- Picture content does not change when changing channel.
- After operating for 30 minutes, the picture becomes blurred.
- Burnt resistor RP14 at point 8 of the FBT.
- Picture collapses every 2 minutes in Canal Plus.
- Height and width fault and adjustment is not possible.
- Replacement kit of thyristor ESM740/G1/G2. (36C504 tips)
- Fails. Half of the picture appears if safety mode is switched off.
- Flyback lines and red screen.
- Fuse FP02 blows as soon as appliance is switched on. No apparent S/C. (36C504 tips)
- Approx 1cm horizontal line on top of screen at about 5cm from upper edge.
- TL02 (BU208D) S/C.
- Hum and picture shrinks.
- Whole picture is purple.
- Goes into standby when switched on. Display flashes once and starts up.
- Picture amplitude is too high.
- Quick run through of raster. No adjustment with synchronisation pot.
- No contrast.
- Blurred picture after 1/2 hour.
- Spare part info: value of zener DP18.
- Secondary power supply and EHT pumping.
- Display is scanned continuously.
- Constant scanning on the display.
- EHT pumps.
- Value of RP14.
- Blurry picture.
- PSU and display are pulsating.
- Extension at the top of the picture. (service info for SABA -36C504)
- Drifting on both sides of screen.
- Frequency drift after a few minutes.
- Screen is very blurred with a rainbow effect but without picture. Frame line scans to the outside of the screen. (SABA - 36C504 information)
- No function and no display. The very high voltage starts up by short circuiting TP21.
- Line amplitude is too weak and wavy lines appear.
- Dark screen.
- No brightness.
- Difficult restart after switching off. Adjustment impossible.
- Horizontal lines and picture jitter in UHF. Tunes correctly on band III and picture OK.
- Top half of picture is too bright.
- Picture with long horizontal streaks according to the content.
- Tuning problem. Although the channel display is correct, the tuner has moved 9 channels (eg. channel 29 instead of 38).
- No 24V and no picture at bottom of screen. (service info for SABA -36C504)
- Picture brightens and flyback lines present. Sometimes start up audible and picture becomes normal again.
- Variation of brightness everywhere but on the test pattern.
- E/W correction fault.
- Dark screen. Line transformer, scanning and voltage ok. Screen brightens if G2 is turned up. No voltage on pin 26 of the TDA3506 which has been changed. Video signal is very strange, does not function in RGB via scart.
- Power supply, line transformer, display begin to pulsate when appliance is switched on.
- Power supply ok. FBT pulsates. Goes into safety mode.
- Interference lines at top of screen.
- Flyback line at top of picture.
- Excessive brightness. G2 does not react.
- The picture is tinged with flyback lines which are visible when hot. (36C504 tips)
- Store basic values.
- Occasionally when switching on the TV remains in standby.
- No colour, only visible in black and white.
- No picture in top part of creen.
- The appliance functions ok for 5 mins then begins to pulsate.
- After changing TDA1950, TV does not start up. Standby light appears then disappears. 80V, 12V, 20V ok, line transformer and BU ok.
- No picture. White screen. Sound OK.
