F20 / SABA [TV]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for F20 / SABA.
List of fault symptoms:
- Fuse blows at switch on. (+ extract of circuit diagram)

- Picture is just at the top edge of the CRT if the vertical picture centering regulator is at the end position. The topmost lines are somewhat bent to the right. (F20 tips)

- Intermittently trips off for approx 1 sec.

- Dead. No voltage on the secondary. 300V on collector TP29. All the transistors and diodes are ok. Even no standby light.
- RC part number.
- Attempts to start then smoke appears.
- Random loss of station memory when CTV starts up.
- Low pitch, inaudible sound via scart. Value of SMD resistor pin 14 of IF module ? If 100Ohm applied there, sound ok but volume cannot be lowered. (+ extract of circuit diagram)

- White screen in scart and no sound. Picture ok via tuner. Displays programmes and sound level etc.

- After 5 mins a noise like rapid crackling occurs at the scanning level. Noise disappears if picture is misframed upwards. (with circuit diagram extract)

- Teletext clock stops. Each 5cm high part of the picture is missing.

- Distorted picture. Strong streaking.
- Picture is green, red and blue with flyback lines.
- Vertical line.
- Line stage does not start up.

- At start up snowy screen with no reception. When pressing the programme keys the numbers run through continuously. No sound.

- Loud noise, if appliance is switched to standby.
- No 30V on pin 5 of tuner in PAL SECAM. (with circuit diagram extract)

- Intermittently switches off and on when changing channels or when picture has high beam current content.
- At start up there is a power supply fault. TP29 must be replaced. After this the picture lacks vertical and horizontal amplitude. Reduced picture which has shifted to the bottom of the screen. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Line transformer blows a few secs later after appliance is started up, line transformer has been changed but fault persists. Output voltage 8.2V instead of 15V on the power supply secondary with the line transformer removed.

- Synchronisation during PB of the VCR.
- No start up of power supply. No standby light. No noise.

- Does not come on from standby, red standby light comes on. TV01 and TV02 in the protective circuit respond.
- Memory loss or random deprogramming of uP.
- The picture disappears, drifts then reappears for a few fractions of a second and then drifts again. A whistling noise can be heard when the picture reappears.

- Speaker or headphones crackle very loudly. Speaker is ok even with the sound turned off.

- To improve IF response.

- Goes into safety mode for no apparent reason, after operating for 30 mins. Starts up again from the switch.

- At switch on, the appliance goes to stand by. After trying to start several times the TP19 and TP29 are damaged.
- Blurred picture, focus pot does not work.

- After changing FBT twice, light varies when you turn focus pot; FBT ok, after a few moments light decreases at switch on, light picture with G2 set to minimum then darkens.

- TV starts up well but with a lot of noise.
- Picture at the bottom. No contrast.
- Vertical amplitude is too low.

- At the start of production of the new IKC2 chassis, in TVs not fitted in series with teletext, the following components have not been fitted.
- Does not switch on immediately when pressing switch, only after loudspeakers click 3 times and standby LED reduces brightness 3 times.
- Hissing sound.
- Dead. Intermittently OK from cold.
- No memory during programming.

- After operating for some time the channels begin to run through. Nothing occurs when the circuits are cooled down.
