FF392 / SABA [TV (Standard)]

The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers supplies the following faults for FF392 / SABA.

List of fault symptoms:
  • Intermittent flashing lines on screen. Picture OK with scart input. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • When cold trips 3 times with crackling in the speaker, then safety mode. When warm trips then starts up. (picture attached)
  • Poor start up, RC must be pressed for a long time. (picture attached)
  • Protection mode activated. Standby LED flashes .
  • Red picture (after a while).
  • No picture or PLL operation. There are vertical interference bars present. (picture attached)
  • Channels 1, 2, 3 and 4 ok but teletext is green.

  • Colour bleeding.
  • IG01 (TDA4950) fails repeatedly. (part of circuit diagram displayed)

  • Interchangeability of teletext boards between chassis ICC5 and ICC5.01.

  • Storage battery explodes HD404918 A08
  • Occasionally memorized data of control unit processor is lost at switch on or switch off with mains switch.
  • Teletext displays page 100 only.
  • VHF band 1 occasionally fails. Snow and sizzling noise in sound. Band 3 and high channels are ok.
  • Start up is difficult and occasionally impossible with the IR remote control.
  • ICC7 chassis. N/S correction does not function properly. Initially no function.
  • White screen. Flyback lines.
  • Loud noises from speaker (at switch-off).
  • Screen is blank with rolling lines at the top.
  • No TXT, although control shows appliance is in TXT.
  • Horizontal rotating lines approx 5-8cm high. (extract of circuit diagram attached)

  • After deprogramming, followed by a reprogramming, TV functions but the channels have each increased by 9 units. Eg.: 2nd channel is 49 instead of 40. Hence it is impossible to receive channel 62.

  • Poor reception. Pieces of OSD appear erratically on display. No menu display. (SABA - FF392 information)
  • Loses channel 1.
  • Negative picture, striped and running through in UHF. OK in VHF.
  • Sound only at maximum volume.
  • Incorrect horizontal linearity, right part of test pattern is wider than left.
  • No red in picture or TXT. (picture attached)
  • Dark picture with bright lines. Sound OK.
  • Programme indicator "1" flashes but will not tune.

  • No clock signal in 14 of the IV21. No Y signal in 41 of the IV21 and no light.

  • Functions in Pal but snowy screen in Secam. (picture attached)
  • No audio.
  • Blurry picture.

  • Top half of picture has squiggling verticals which alter with field shift/height. Picture may blank out with coloured lines dependent upon vertical shift position, accompanied by rasping noise from PSU!
  • Very faint and bright picture via tuner. Picture ok via scart via a VCR. (SABA - FF392 information)

  • Flyback rasters on screen. No picture, no sound. Display on the front is ok.
  • No red on TXT. Picture OK.
  • No EHT or power supply when switched on. 7V=6.3V.

  • Sound is lost intermittently.

  • Teletext moves vertically. Appliance functions very well when Teletext is not displayed.

  • No search possible, snow.
  • No audio.

  • No or low start-up volts at IL14.

  • Goes into standby and cannot be turned on using RC; OK when channel up button on set is pressed for approx 8 secs. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Goes into black and white, flyback lines then stops. Dead. Starts up again 2 or 3 times then cuts out completely.
  • Only colour info visible. No Y signal.
  • Intermittent NICAM sound.
  • No audio.
  • No colour in PB from a Ferguson FV26D VCR when VCR is positioned under the TV.
  • No picture appears in PAL.
  • Ticking noise on sound and intermittent sound mute.
  • In safety mode after working for a long time appliance trips then stops. Display off.

  • Picture from the bottom to the middle of the screen. Not possible to adjust the vertical amplification. Black screen to the middle of the screen then picture from the middle to the bottom of the screen.
  • Volume changes by itself or distorted sound.
  • Does not start up. 142V on line collector S2000, the standby LED scarcely lights up when appliance is switched off, a priori no diodes s/c. (FF392 tip from SABA)
  • No video signal. Sound and TXT display OK.
  • Standby LED flashing in standby mode.
  • Brightness varies until there is a dark picture. (FF392 tip from SABA)
  • TV deprogrammes, starts up again then remains in PAL. It is impossible to display S2 standard.
  • Constant red, green and blue line scanning.
  • In cold state of the television receiver, the thyristor DL21 (ESM740G) in the vertical stage may not switch on. (+ extract of circuit diagram)

  • Bottom of picture stretches intermittently. E/W effect.

  • Remains blocked in PAL.

  • After working for a while, RVB lines appear at the top of the screen.

  • Switching transistor TP24 fails repeatedly.
  • Intermittent tripping, display ok. Possible start up again via On/Off switch.

  • No start up with RC. Functions OK with RC when switched on manually.
  • TP24 gets hot and short circuits. Poor base command.
  • No IF signal from the tuner.
  • Colour fails occasionally.

  • Double picture. Picture shifted 1mm.

  • The sound cuts out when warm.
  • Starts up three times then switches off.
  • Variable sound and picture crackling with snow.

  • After changing transformer LP03 burns. TL31 disconnected, 7V on DP37 and 145V on DP41 OK. BU508AT5 has been replaced by BU508A but fault still persists. (service info for SABA -FF392)
  • TP24 fails after first EHT pulse.
  • After a storm no sound and no picture. No light, filament lights up, line transformer ok. screen remains dark, light appears at switch off.
  • Loss of memory when you switch off the TV and in standby you need to be 5cm from the TV to start it up again despite the TV operating well. Battery is ok.
  • Sporadic hum from speaker. Hum disappears when switched off and on. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Sometimes CTV starts up and functions. When the CTV is functioning, it stops then starts up again all by itself.
  • No colour when cold.
  • No or poor synchronisation. (picture attached)
  • Intermittent trip/chopper failure.
  • In time picture increasingly wanders down the screen.
  • Intermittent audio.
  • Channel indication flashing 1, will not tune or adjust.
  • Arcing at switch on. CTV trips 3 times then stops.
  • CTV loses its programming when there is a power cut. What is the value the battery must charge at ?
  • No OSG, (on screen graphics). Although no OSG, picture functions can still be altered.
  • Service info: Contrast- and beam current adjustment after replacing chroma video module.
  • No power supply. Standby light comes on then goes off.

  • Power supply shuts down. Line drive pulls HT down.

  • Cannot be switched over from all channels.
  • Only rainbow effect (picture foldover).

  • Appliance trips or RL44 burns up.
  • Occasional raster desynchronisation.

  • Power supply of the control micro is too low (micro has been changed). 3 Volts, CTV does not start up.
  • No audio.

  • After two-three hours the sound crackles very loudly. Model (51K5) Nicam .
  • No reception. No UHF or VHF. Channels are displayed correctly.
  • Occasionally memorized data of control unit processor is lost at switch on or switch off with mains switch.
  • Colour flashing in and out.
  • Power supply switches off for a short time (hiccup) when channel is switched over.

  • Switches to standby. after start-up (intermittently).
  • Colour cuts out occasionally.
  • The video fails with the decoder syster. No problem with the old decoder.
  • Stations drift off tune by channel input. Can only be adjusted by fine tuning.

  • No sound or picture. Dark screen. FBT functions. Filament tube is lit up. In scart with a VCR normal sound but no picture. Raster appears faintly when the TV is switched off then switched on again immediately.

  • After an hour dark screen, no sound, display is correct. The display remains on the channel selected then a moment afterwards goes into standby.
  • No sound or picture. Dark screen. In scart with a VCR, normal sound but no picture. Raster appears faintly when the TV is switched off then switched on again immediately.

  • White screen, no picture. At start up displays 1 and after 5 secs 88, no function possible 5V OK, 20V OK.

  • TXT functions for only 2 secs on high VHF. Functions OK on low VHF low and S channels.
