FF425 / SABA [TV (Standard)]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for FF425 / SABA.
List of fault symptoms:
- Part no. info: PSU repair kit.

- After bridging E-C of TL17 (BC548B) protective circuit does not start up any more. If DL18 (ZPD36) is desoldered, protective circuit sets in.
- Service info: Contrast- and beam current adjustment after replacing chroma video module.
- Channel mistunes after 2 days.
- Channel raster is shifted with two or more channels.
- Volume alters by itself or sound is distorted. (SABA - FF425 information)
- No reset pulse at pin 6 of IR81 (TEA5110), screen blank and picture dark.
- Moire effect in coloured areas.
- Intermittently wide interference lines (like defective RF-cable). Via scart socket, picture is OK.
- Picture dark and screen blank, no display, only standby-dot (lines are running).
- Data stored by control unit processor are intermittently lost after switch on/off via mains.
- Vertikal deflection does not function. (service info for SABA -FF425)
- Appliance starts up poorly, RC must be pressed long. (service info for SABA -FF425)
- Picture has severe distortion at top and bottom. Changes with line amplitude.
- Intermittently colour fails.
- Narrow horizontal lines in picture.
- Moire effect in the colour areas.
- Code lock. (FF425 tip from SABA)
- Rotating vertical lines on the whole picture. If adjusted with pot PF02, picture looks correctly in lower third.
- Protective circuit starts up - after removing CRT board, no protective circuit mode. (service info for SABA -FF425)
- Part no. info: Processors.
- No sound. Muting voltage at pin 10 (sound module) is too low (approx. 4,5V, nominal value: 12V).
- PSU starts poorly.
- Rainbow colours at lower picture edge, otherwise no picture.
- Appliance has no HF reception. Snowy picture. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- E/W stage function.
- Loud noises from speaker (at switch-off).
- RC part number.
- No stereo reception on channel 60.
- Dented vertical lines.
- Slight jitter in vertical synchronisation.
- Programs are not stored. U6 is too low (26V, nominal value: 30V).
- Colour bleeding.
- E/W-error, picture amplitude can not be controlled.

- Strong interference on top and bottom of picture. It changes at control of E/W-adjustment. (FF425 SABA repair tip)
- Vertical lines are slightly dented on top. V-location-control (PF02) does not change it.
- No start up. No drive pulse for PSU Pin 7 IC14 (TEA2029).
- No picture after it was switched over to videotext.
- Receives no HF signals. Band change is not possible. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Service information: Function of E/W stage.
- Only rainbow colours (picture tilting). U4 is too low (approx. 8V, nominal value: 12V). (FF425 SABA repair tip)
- Bright horizontal line on bottom in picture.
- Contrast- and beam current adjustment after replacing chroma video module.
- Vertical line terminations are shifted only on top.
- Dotted lines at colour transitions.
- Can not be switched on by main power switch and RC.
- Part number info: RC
- Channel 60 and high channels flicker. U6 (30V) too low.
- No HF reception. Picture is noisy. (with circuit diagram extract)

With help of this list a solution is found often when SABA FF425 fails.
