FF440 / SABA [TV (Standard)]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for FF440 / SABA.
List of fault symptoms:
- When TV is switched on in standard G, standard cannot be modified. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Double picture. Picture shifted 1mm.
- Service Info: Unlocking the code lock. (FF440 tips)
- Vertical stability fault. Picture revolves as it moves up the screen. No sound with scart. TV goes into standby after 5 mins as if there were no transmission. (SABA - FF440 information)
- No scanning. When appliance is switched on green bars then they disappear. FBT is ok. Function is ok.
- Moire effect in the colour areas.
- Loud crackling noise from right hand loud speaker at switch on.
- Starts up three times then switches off.

- LED remains on when set switched on.

- Colour cuts out occasionally.

- No audio.

- No stereo reception on channel 60.

- No audio. STEREO OK .
- Intermittent audio.
- Very poor colour. Looks like indent fault.

- After two-three hours the sound crackles very loudly. Model (51K5) Nicam .
- No sound or picture. Dark screen. FBT functions. Filament tube is lit up. In scart with a VCR normal sound but no picture. Raster appears faintly when the TV is switched off then switched on again immediately.
- Black box appears instead of clock on channel change or when adjusting volume on IMC models.
- Back cover anti-vibration kit.
- Random flashing of lines on screen.

- Variable sound and picture crackling with snow.

- After two minutes graphics appear on screen showing "nicam and mono" flickering and affecting audio reception. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Line amplitude is too strong and there is a problem with the east/west cushion.
- Moire effect in the colour areas.
- TP24 fails after first EHT pulse.
- Appliance blocks in PAL. Operates in video cassette and channel. Telecom display is abnormal. L equals sound, H equals light and F equals colour.
- Ticking noise on sound and intermittent sound mute.
- Colour bleeding.
- At switch on, goes into standby and impossible to get out of it. After 5 mins, appliance starts up by itself and functions well. If stopped for a few secs, it works normally.
- Automatically changes channels and goes into standby.

- Receives no HF signals. Tape switch over is not possible.

- After operating for 5 mins in black and white, it loses G2 and turns mauve.
- No start up of PSU. 300V present.
- Occasionally memorized data of control unit processor is lost at switch on or switch off with mains switch.

- Black screen. All the voltages are correct. The sound, line transformer and the G2 are ok but the screen remains black.
- Picture detuned on all channels.

- Switches on, but HV does not build up.
- Power supply BU blows after 10 secs. Correct power supply attempted with line transformer load disconnected.
- Monochrome picture when AUX selected on IMC receiver.
- TP24 blown when appliance goes into standby.
- No colour.

- U5 voltage incorrect.

- Only rainbow colours (picture foldover).
- Flickering on channel 60 and on special channels.

- Black rapid flashing.
- Switches off a few times each evening after replacing transformer. Intermittently switches on again after a while. Sometimes needs to be switched on again.

- After changing transformer LP03 burns. TL31 disconnected, 7V on DP37 and 145V on DP41 OK. BU508AT5 has been replaced by BU508A but fault still persists.

- Remains blocked in PAL.
- HT value.
- Moire effect in the colour areas.
- Intermittent switch between programme 1 and AUX.
- Defective frequency plan.
- CTV loses its programming when there is a power cut. What is the value the battery must charge at ?
- Snowy raster.

- Fuse FP05 (1.6A) blows sporadically without any obvious reason after an extended running time (approx 1-2 months). After replacing appliance runs perfectly again.

- Loss of sync on teletext. Mix teletext/picture ok.
- In cold state of the television receiver, the thyristor DL21 (ESM740G) in the vertical stage may not switch on.
- No TXT. Command is received but not carried out. Picture does not turn black.

- No sound at switch on.

- No colour, no brightness. Only one colour on TXT or certain colours are missing.

- No Y-picture or colour.

- Picture jumps and vertical distorsion according to video content, mostly on second station, channel 21. Intermittent fault.
- The very high tension is intermittent.

- Incorrect horizontal linearity, right part of test pattern is wider than left.
- When switching on snow with moiré on all stations. It seems as if the stations are way out. After running for a short time picture is ok.
- No sound or picture. Teletext functions. Static discharge. New appliance.
- Sound pulses.
- The picture goes wrong all the time in the vertical direction. A black band appears at the bottom. The capacitors at the level of the raster IC are ok. Solder joints have been redone.
- Switches off by itself. intermittently.
- Vertical displacement of approx 5cm towards the top of the screen when warm.

- Signal and tuning are missing.

- Voltage U5 21V goes to 35V when appliance is warm. Vertical displacement. The other EHT secondary voltages are stable. (FF440 tips)
- Occasionally the picture is red with flyback lines.
- Heavy patterning on picture. Turning colour down patterning disappears, but the B/W picture has silvery effect on white areas.
- Colour drop-out.
- Drifts at switch on after 2 mins.

- Poor reception. in UHF. Hum in audio.

- Functions well but occasionally picture turns grainy as if there was a reception fault. Occasionally 5 and 6 disappear. IF screening ok.
- Trips three times at start up.

- TP24, TP16, TP19, TP11 and fuse blow. TL31 ok.

- The appliance switches to BG standard.

- Dark screen with some RGB lines at the bottom of the screen and whistling near the FBT. Capacitor 1000/40V has been changed but fault persists. FBT has been changed but dark screen with hum then goes into safety mode.
- VCR problems.

- No channel storing.
- Brightness problem, display works well but no variation. Contrast and colour ok. Clock data and enable data ok.
- Only the green LED on.
- No picture (after a few minutes).
- Resistor RP01 on the power supply module burns.
- No IF signal from tuner.

- After 5 mins stations disappear. Wrong characters with the volume OSD. Colours and size change.
- No switch on from main switch or via RC.
