FF441 / SABA [TV (Standard)]

List of fault symptoms:
  • Green screen.

  • Intermittent loud distortion, a bit like motorboating. More likely to occur at high volume settings.
  • No tuning, OSD or TXT. (SABA - FF441 information)
  • Blurred colour blobs on screen.
  • After a storm no sound and no picture. No light, filament lights up, line transformer ok. screen remains dark, light appears at switch off.
  • Moire pattern. when cold.

  • Operation OK. Dark screen, no sound. RCU OK. As in AV position no snow or thermal tube noise. (picture attached)
  • The channel display is incorrect (eg.when receiving channel 36, the display shows channel 38). (picture attached)

  • TP24 gets hot and short circuits. Poor base command.
  • Replacing BU508, BU508AV, S2000A, S2000A2 and TP24.
  • No sound. Hiss only.
  • Negative picture, striped and running through in UHF. OK in VHF.

  • Goes into standby and cannot be turned on using RC; OK when channel up button on set is pressed for approx 8 secs. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • No audio.
  • Dark picture with bright lines. Sound OK.

  • Power supply switches off, breaker circuit doesn't start up even with continuous attempts to start up.

  • Dead. Standby LED lit .
  • TXT functions for only 2 secs on high VHF. Functions OK on low VHF low and S channels.
  • No sound. No picture. No OSD. Only purity spots.
  • No picture. via tuner.
  • Sometimes CTV starts up and functions. When the CTV is functioning, it stops then starts up again all by itself.
  • Volume changes by itself or distorted sound.

  • The very high tension is intermittent.
  • Child lock.
  • Lines from top to bottom of screen.

  • Sound is lost intermittently.
  • Picture height is shrivelled to 10cm. A few rolling horizontal lines in the middle of the picture.
  • Intermittent NICAM sound.
  • No UHF or VHF on the tuner. Pin 6 of the UHF on 33V permanently.

  • Vertical interference line (1/2cm wide) at left of picture on low channels.

  • Replaced small transformer which was burning but TV remains in standby and FBT crackles for 5-6 secs then nothing.

  • When increasing contrast or on bright video scenes, chroma disappears and 1 or 2 vertical fine black lines appear on left of screen.

  • Protection circuit comes into force inappropriately.

  • Memory loss. after a while.

  • After changing the CRT base, there is HT flashover which appears as crackling sound and flickering picture.
  • Picture jumps and vertical distorsion according to video content, mostly on second station, channel 21. Intermittent fault.
  • Channel 60 and special channels flicker. U6 (30V) too low.
  • OSD only functions in PAL.

  • Loss of stored settings: Tuning, picture or sound.

  • Intermittent switch between programme 1 and AUX.
  • Poor audio.
  • V2 voltage.
  • In time picture increasingly wanders down the screen.

  • Appliance blocks in PAL. Operates in video cassette and channel. Telecom display is abnormal. L equals sound, H equals light and F equals colour.
  • Colour bleeding.

  • Height reduces. Creeps up from bottom. (part of circuit diagram displayed)

  • No picture. Loss of 1 or more colours.
  • Blurry picture.
  • Colour flashing in and out. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • A useful note with these appliances.
  • Sound pops.
  • Intermittent fault. The TV stops and even the standby light has gone out. Starts up again by itself.
  • Occasionally dead, then snow. Goes into standby by the RCU and only starts up again after 30 secs.
  • Intermittent motorboating noise on sound.
  • Sometimes the sound mutes.
  • Interchangeability of teletext boards between chassis ICC5 and ICC5.01.
  • No picture. There is a white raster on the right of the screen.
  • No blue. in TXT. Picture OK .
  • Frame jumping or twitching. (picture attached)
  • Wrong display. Low light with no picture or sound.
  • At switch off, loud noises from the speaker. (FF441 tip from SABA)

  • Line BU blows after some time.
  • Black patch on left hand side, approx 1/3 of picture. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • RP42 blowing. (picture attached)
  • No HF signals received. Band switch over is not possible.
  • Back cover anti-vibration kit.
  • Power supply of the control micro is too low (micro has been changed). 3 Volts, CTV does not start up. (FF441 tip from SABA)

  • No NICAM sound.
  • Functions in PAL. Does not take the Secam standard. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • No reception and the display is in German.
  • Black screen. All the voltages are correct. The sound, line transformer and the G2 are ok but the screen remains black.

  • Sound reduction. It sometimes returns when changing channels.
  • No sound or picture. No digits lit on display except STEREO and STEREO S2 lit.

  • ICC7 chassis. N/S correction does not function properly. Initially no function.
  • Switches on, but HV does not build up.
  • In the picture appear black lines similar to lightning. Fault is not visible via scart.
  • Colour drop-out.

  • No start up of PSU. 300V present.
  • Sound VHT is correct but there is no picture and the screen is black.

  • Intermittent audio.

  • Display flashes in STAND BY and the TV does not start up, even with the RCU. Occasionally it starts up when you activate P and VOL, and press On/Off several times.
  • Clicking on NICAM.
  • No Canal Plus decoding.
  • Picture is very dark. Picture is visible only by the predominant areas of red and blue.
  • No sound, picture is ok.

  • After working for a while, RVB lines appear at the top of the screen.
  • After operating for a few minutes, channels 59 and 62 disappear: picture is replaced by snow.

  • Picture appears after 1.5 mins when cold and after 25 mins when warm (picture attached)
  • Failure to switch on from standby unless programme "UP" button is used.
  • No red on TXT. Picture OK.
  • At switch on, goes into standby and impossible to get out of it. After 5 mins, appliance starts up by itself and functions well. If stopped for a few secs, it works normally.

  • Rainbow effect on lower picture edge, otherwise no picture.

  • Program site is displayed but the appropriate picture does not appear. If fine tuning is activated, picture appears.
  • Field collapse across centre of screen. Hum bar may drift down screen about 1 hour before field collapses.
  • Defective frequency plan.
  • Snowy raster.
  • No UHF, VHF reception. Similar picture without an aerial.
  • No vertical synchronisation. (picture attached)
  • Black, green, pink, blue screen after start-up for 1 min, then goes to normal.
  • No horizontal deflection.

  • AGC problems. Poor reception. (picture attached)
  • Blank raster, sound + EHT OK, no r.g.b. Out of IV21 (HA11498). (with circuit diagram extract)
  • No colour (intermittently).
  • Distorted sound, balance off centre, supersound and NICAM defective.
  • Incorrect horizontal linearity, right part of test pattern is wider than left.

  • 3 to 4 pulses of line transformer then nothing.
  • After deprogramming, followed by a reprogramming, TV functions but the channels have each increased by 9 units. Eg.: 2nd channel is 49 instead of 40. Hence it is impossible to receive channel 62.
  • No search possible, snow.
  • Channel 60 and special channels flicker. U6 (30V) is too low.
  • Switches off then starts up again, mostly when cold. When TV works, sound mute and background noise, but sound reappears at channel switch over.
  • Drifts at switch on after 2 mins.
  • TL31 heats up and blows after 5 mins.
  • Poor start up, RC must be pressed for a long time. (picture attached)
  • No sound or picture. Scanning not very apparent, greenish, flyback lines. Functions occasionally in scart.
  • Dead (after start-up).
  • No stereo LED operation.

  • Switching transistor TP24 fails repeatedly.
